We went out with Curtasea twice this summer. First we did a lobstering trip, and two days later a half-day patch reef fishing trip. Curt is a great captain. The Boat is clean. He is safe, knows what he is doing. I saw the two negative reviews on this site, and I must say it is called "fishing," not "catching" for a reason. Sometimes the bite is off. We got our limit of lobsters, and Curt was informative and very helpful with the kids. Fishing was a so - so day but still we caught some, and any serious fisherman knows that the stringer aren't always full. This guys knows the area, knows how to catch fish and lobster. My wife and four kids and I am coming back next year to Curtasea!

Our deep sea fishing trip for my bachelor party last Summer with Curt-a-Sea was awesome! Captain Curt was really professional, but still tons of fun. This was great for me as I was the only guy in our group who hadn't been deep sea fishing before. We each caught a caught a lot of fish and the weather was great which also helped, but it was still fun in between bites. We choose Curt-A-Sea off a recommendation from a friend since they have air conditioned boats. The boat itself was a lot nicer than I expected and I would highly recommend checking them out.

Called the Capt. about 5 hours before the trip and we confirmed the trip. The first thing he mentioned was we can bring our bathing suits in case we wanted to jump in the water. This should have been a sign of things to come. Why would we pay for a charter trip in order to take a swim? This should have been a sign of things to come. He explained that the Tarpon bite was slow, because it was the end of the season. I went with 2 buddies of mine and we explained to him that if the Tarpon bite was bad, we would be happy just fishing for anything else, be it mangrove snapper, sea trout, whatever would bite. We just wanted to fish, regardless of the species. He stated he would take us to a spot that he always goes to and if the bite was bad we would move over to another spot. Well the vessel was nice enough, 61 feet, clean and the 1st mate was a nice guy, his cousin. He set out at 6:30pm and within 15-20 minutes in 10 feet of water, just outside the canal he pulled out from he dropped anchor. He explained that the bite would be slow until it got dark. True enough he was right. Fast forward to 8:30pm. Funny thing is we would tell the 1st mate which rod had the bite; he would run to it, let the drag out but unfortunately never hooked up. By this time you would think, ok maybe we can just fish for something else, be it snapper, sea trout, anything at all, so we are not just sitting here. We haven't even touched one rod yet! Captain came out once to see how things were going. Sure a shark jumped out behind the boat chasing bait fish an hour ago. Maybe one bite per hour was ideal. Needless to say, we never moved from this spot. Meanwhile, the 1st mate is telling us how channel 2 and 5 are world famous for Tarpon fishing. Heck we could see the car lights from where we were, maybe two to three miles away. Long story short myself and my buddies have never ever been on a charter where we did not even touch a fishing pole once. We wasted 4 hours sharing pictures of our previous catches on other fishing charters with the first mate. I did not mind getting "skunked". I understand you don't always catch fish. I get it, Captain Curt had a bad head cold, but either the lack of caring or shear stubbornness to continue doing the same thing when it's clearly not working and doing nothing about it, left a bad taste in the mouth my friends and myself. We clearly told him that we did not have to catch a trophy Tarpon; we just wanted to fish and enjoy ourselves. We were parked in the same spot the entire time. Again, 4 hours in and none of us touched a fishing pole, not even once. If any of this is not true, feel free to call me Captain Curt and we can discuss our Sunday night, August 17, 6:30pm to 10:30pm expedition. Hopefully your head cold is better, meanwhile myself and the other two guys who came along on this trip felt like we got ripped off, again not because we did not catch anything, but the fact that you didn't seem to care that all we did was sit around for 4 hours doing nothing. Take care of yourself, we won't be coming back, but we will be happy to share our experience with others out there. Regards, Eric P.

I bought a groupon in the amount of $250 go fishing with www.curtasea.com. The started very nice with a tour of the 60 foot ship and after that it went down hill!!!! First the captain gave a very brief over view of the life vest and Safety procedure. He said we only going into 8 to 10 feet of water and should be any issues. The captain took us 1 mile from his work place and we stayed there for 5 hours. During this time we didnt get to do anything but watch!!!!!! We were not allowed to touch the fishing rods or setup the bait!! The captain said that once they hook the fish there give us the rods and we would bring them. Well 5 hours later we didn't even touch the fishing rods and came back home. The only good part about this fishing trip is that it only tooks us 5 mins to get back to teh car and get the hell out of there! Worst fishing trip ever!!!! This guys should be shame to call himself a captain!!!!

We are a family of 6 and booked with Curt for an all day fishing trip/spear fishing/diving. He went above and beyond anything we could have asked for! Honestly, I can't say enough good things about his charter. We did 2 dives which included spear fishing and lobstering on both. He had 1 deck hand on a boat that slept 11. The boat was beautiful!!! We did have to bring our own food and I think the website said he provides it. However, he took us out on his larger boat over his smaller one just so our group wasn't so cramped and didn't charge us the extra fee. We fished a lot didn't come up with a ton but he kept trying. I didn't care because I was lounging on his huge bow while the kids and my husband fished off the stern. The boat was CLEAN!! We rearranged our whole trip to the keys based off this captains recommendations. He didn't stear us wrong. I'm so glad we went with his charter I couldn't say a single thing bad about it. If you are looking for a fair price you will get your money's worth and A LOT MORE!!!!
