Going with a new fishing guide is always a risk . Before booking Capt. Ted Wilson I asked a lot of local knowledge questions to qualify him as best I could . Home run !! This Capt. knows his sheet . He worked hard and ran us to a bunch of his secret spots . You couldn't ask for a better Capt. or time , and even if you did you wouldn't find it . After 50 plus years of fishing the keys with my brother we agreed this was a top 3 fishing trip of our lifetime together . And yes we will be going back soon.....

We had a great 1/2 day trip out with the Seahorse Charter Boat, Captain Rick Martinez and Mate, Cole. We caught many fish including; black fin Tuna, Mahi, Dolphin fish, king fish and a Barracuda. It was effortless on our part as Cole and Cpt Rick took great care in our comfort level. They gave us several options regarding our trip, including the 1/2 day vs a full day due to choppy waters and high winds. It was a great, relaxing day trip out on the Seahorse Charter Boat, Saturday Sept 29th, 2019

Went fishing with my 18 year old son. The guide was John Johansen. The day did not start well when he suggested I had made a mistake in the booking and wasn't due for a couple of days. Thankfully I had the emails on my phone. Once that was sorted we had an excellent days fishing. Really noticeable that Capt Johansen knew where to go and what bait to put on the rods. In comparison to a number of other boats and guides we were moving around and pulling in fish all day whereas other guides would come over ten minutes after we had set and fish nearby with none of the results. He also responded both to changes in the weather and the tide as to where or how we were fishing. I had asked for a good days fishing and we certainly got that and as we moved around the fish we went after got bigger and bigger. Ended the day after shark and between the two of us we caught 5 and one of those my son caught was 5-6ft. So all in all I would definitely do this again, but I would caution people to research their guide carefully as there is clearly a difference between guides and their knowledge levels and would happily recommend Capt Johansen.

I reserved a 4 hours charter with Jeff for my 17 year-old son and myself. It was the first time I have ever chartered a boat for fishing. I've owned boats and my son and I have enjoyed fishing together as he has grown up. I was unfamiliar with "Fishing the Keys" so I allowed Jeff to recommend and plan the 4 hour charter. We started with some channel fishing. We caught a fish on our second cast...a keeper Red Snapper. We went on to catch several more keepers. Then we switched bait and my son landed a 24" Grouper. A great fight and a fun catch. I then landed a 4' Nurse shark. What a battle. Our last stop was in the Mangroves, where we were able to catch enough Red Snapper to feed my family that night at a local (recommended by Jeff) restaurant. An incredible, very memorable day for everyone. I can't thank Jeff enough for the highlight of our vacation!

I have been going to Islamorada for decades. These have been trips that were solo, a couple, family, and group(s). This is a unique location in several regards. As an avid fisherman, I always fished if weather permitted. The variety of fish and methods of catching them is amazing. This is a unique location from the standpoint that three different eco systems converge here. There is the Atlantic, the Gulf, and Florida Bay where the Everglades empties. You can do offshore in the Atlantic or Gulf or you can do backcountry shallow water fishing. Nearly every variety of fish is available except for the more exotic like rooster, etc. If you are not into fishing, there are plenty alternative activities available. Numerous guides are available for all levels of fishermen from beginners to expert. There are even eco tours that can be amazing. I have been fortunate enough to fish in Alaska, Honduras, Panama, Virgin Islands, etc. Islamorada is heavily fished but still well worth the visit. I would suggest you book a guide before going if possible. As someone who loves to eat, I can vouch for the fact excellent restaurants are plentiful as are excellent accomodations.
