Gary is a wonderful guide with all of the knowledge and experience you will need to have an amazing trip. My only regret is booking a half day, but I will be back for multiple full days aboard his Vintage Willy Roberts Skiff. Even though we had a west wind, Gary was able to find calm water to throw flies to monster snook.

Captain Gary was awesome! He’s a friendly and easy going guy. He’s patient and good at instruction. He’s truly passionate about fishing and wildlife conservation. Gary told us his Dad started guiding in the 70s and he grew up learning the trade, so you can trust he knows what he is doing. We fished for tarpon and then he took us to the flats where we successfully fished for bonefish! It was a new experience and fun that he did that for us. We had a blast!! I highly recommend booking a trip with him.

Our family (3 adults) did a 3/4 day flats and everglades fishing trip with Captain Gary. We started early by searching for the elusive bonefish and although none of us caught one, Gary sure gave it his best shot looking for them and coaching us on what to do when they were spotted. We moved on to the everglades to fish for snook and tarpon. We saw crocodiles, sharks and rays so quite the adventure! We did hook some snook and tried REALLY hard to catch those big tarpon. Gary was determined and knew where and what to do but sometimes they just aren't biting. We would definitely book with him again either inshore or offshore. If we did not have another commitment later that afternoon, I think Gary would have continued to try and put us on more fish. He is a very nice man and loves what he does.

Great fishing experience! We went gulf side fishing with Captain Gary Skrobeck. Capt. Gary knows where the fish are and as a life long Islamorada fisherman (his Dad is a fisherman too) knows lots of area history. We went to 3 different fishing spots. At the first one we did not stay too long because nothing was biting so off to the next spot where we stayed a long time. This is because fish were practically jumping in the boat. We caught oodles of ladyfish, a huge seatrout, snook and a little shark, which was hard to pull in! We then went to another location on the way back to try to catch a sheepshead but they eluded us. We highly recommend a fishing outing with Captain Gary.

Spent the day fishing with Capt. Gary on September 7th 2022. He is very knowledgeable regarding the various species of fish, best spots to find them, best time of day, technique, bait, etc. We did a lot of sight fishing, which means you actually look to see the fish itself, or signs that it’s there, and cast toward it. Different from the type of fishing I grew up with, but challenging and a lot of fun. We were on the hunt for bonefish, snook, permit, tarpon, and others. Gary was able to find various areas where all of those species were there for the catching ;-) , and provided great instruction for proper technique. We even landed some small tarpon in Gary’s super secret spot. Even the smaller ones are a good fight on light tackle and show off with some spectacular jumps. Gary was a good sport and put up with my very rusty casting ability :-). I fished with Gary’s Dad a few years ago who is a fantastic fisherman and clearly taught his son well. I look forward to another trip the next time I’m in the Keys.

Capt. Gary was our guide. i had fished with his father Capt. skip 3 times and both our great guides.
on 17 February Capt. Gary took our group out yellowtail fishing, even thought we didn't catch any fish when our 1/2 day was up Capt. Gary at no extra charge keep us out until we caught huge yellow tail . I don't know any other guide that would do that. Once we got on the fish they were the biggest yellowtail I ever caught!

CPT Gary was great! He reached out to me prior to my trip to make sure everything was still good to go and was very responsive with my questions. He is very knowledgeable of the area as he is a second generation guide having fished the keys his entire life. He is an easy guy to chat with and patient while making sure you are successful in casts as well as having fun. I would absolutely return and I even plan to as soon as I can for another trip. I would not even hesitate to book with his old man, CPT Skip, either! I was able to chat with them both after my trip while waiting for my ride home. They are both stand up guys and deserve your business! Islamorada and Ivory Keys Fishing Charter are the place to be!

Gary took us out for an absolutely fantastic afternoon flats fishing. We had a audacious goal of getting bonefish and man, did Gary deliver. Both experienced and new born fishermen had a great great time. What a lovely guy, and a terrific boat. The man really knows what he’s doing. We will definitely be back and can heartily recommend. Even without the catches we had, there was incredible wildlife viewing including rays, sharks, and many different kinds of fish. Loved it!!

I would have to say the whole experience was our favorite part. From catching our bait to the Everglades fishing and the flats. Gary was our tour guide and captain. Explained everything and pointed out landmarks. We did a 3/4day of inland fishing which we have never have done. Great experience and great captiain!!

Gary grew up fishing these waters. He is respected by all anglers in the marina. He is very knowledgeable and has a fun personality. I would recommend him for skilled fisherman trying to catch their first Tarpon on the fly or for the family that want to have fun with conventional spinning rods. He does it all!
