    A fun landmark
An interesting landmark for US highways. Mile marker zero notes the start of the highway for U.S. One. It is a nice quick stop for a photo op. and certainly hyped up with all the tee-shirts and key chains noting mile marker 1. It is not far from other attractions so worth it for a quick 5 minute stop.

Cool for photos - and its FREE
Like many places in Key West, Mile Marker 0 is one of them. There is one on the right hand side of the road (when facing it) that reads it is the "End" and the other one is on the other side of the road saying it is the beginning. There are 2 gift shops near there with come cute items. Fun picture place for free that does get busy. Usually others help take pics if you have a group so no one is left out etc.

    Another one in our collection
Having travelled all over the US we have several such mile marker photos in our collection, including Rt. 66 start and end, as well the West coast US 1. So, being in Key West it was logical to add this one of the eastern US 1 which runs the entire east coast. Be sure to check it on both sides of the street - on one side is the beginnig going north, while on the other is the end.

Mile Marker Zero is one of the types of tourist destinations that you visit and then you scratch your head and say to yourself , Why. On a side note we meet a former sea captain named Rocky who crashed his boat off the coast and wanted explain the importance of this sign. Jolly Chriss.

    Easy to find
Located this while walking to the Hemmingway Museum. Luckily there weren't too many people waiting to take a photo so we were able to snap some quick ones and move on. There is a cute touristy shop on the opposite corner of the intersection for all things "US 1 Mile Marker 0".

    Yeah, It's a sign.
It's a street sign. If you've got time, stop by and get your photo with the sign, but it's not a must. You'll have plenty of time to buy virtually anything you want with this sign on it at a multitude of different gift stores.

A Great Place for a Picture
You are at the end of the road when you are here. You will find a couple of shops and places to eat at mile marker zero. I did not partake of food or shopping but I took great pictures of where the road begins or ends!! Fun.

Yes, you have to have your picture taken here, too
Just like the most southernmost point, you should have your picture taken at Mile 0 marker, too. We went early evening on our way to watch the sunset in Mallory Square and after the southernmost point picture. We just pulled over onto the side of the road, hopped out, and snapped a few pictures. Yes, go do it!

I knew that this picture existed but it took a bit to find....once we did, we almost took the picture across the street at the store. But another visitor pointed out the post with all of the numbers on it.....we passed it forward and did the same for someone else. Just neat being able to say we were at Milemarker 0

    Cool Roadside Attraction
I drove by the Mile 0 point of US Hwy 1, the southernmost US highway in the Lower 48. As a roadway designer, it was a must-see stop. I drove a little out of my way just to say I started back to the mainland right at the beginning. Who knows? Maybe I’ll end up driving it all eventually! Grab the first leg of the road to Maine before leaving Key West!

I accidentally walked right by this marker without taking much notice. It’s definitely worth snapping a picture in front of it. Take a quick iconic photo and you can be on your way. It’s very close to a lot of the big sites in Key West and there is street parking in this area.

My friend and I were walking and I looked up - low and behold - Mile Marker 0. There is was and yes, it is a total photo opportunity. I thought how many times do you find mile marker 0? Yeah it's corny but we are being tourists and having fun so it is worth five minutes. No line. Just pictures. Good times.

Another great photo opportunity in Key West! We actually stumbled upon this by accident while walking around! We drove down from Miami so it was cool to see mile zero after driving on US 1 for so many miles!
