We arranged for a private jeep tour of the lower Florida keys and it was exactly what we were looking for. Brian picked us up at our Key West hotel at 9 am. We drove north with stops on Big Pine Key to see the deers, stopping at Baby’s Coffee for breakfast. Then a waterfront lunch at a local seafood restaurant and then drinks at a secret waterfront tiki bar. Then a lap around Key West to get back to the hotel at 5 pm. Along the ride we heard local history and stories. This was a perfect mix of nature tour, food tour, and happy hour on one perfect day.

Incredible walking tour. Captain Craven is the man!! Tons of great history of the city from a pirates perspective. You get incredible key lime pie, conch fritters and conch chowder as well as several great drinks. Would recommend that this is one of the first things you do as he gives you his must do island list complete with a TON of coupons for food and drink while you are there!!!

Fun night learning some local history. Also information about local customs, including sampling local cuisine. Had fun visiting First Legal rum distillery and learning how to make monitors the Cuban way. Great tour in a great city.

This was a lot of fun until the end of the tour when the guide, Craven, followed my wife into the bathroom and asked to see her breasts. This was one of the most disappointing and insulting experiences I've ever had while on vacation. There wasn't much food either. Avoid this tour.

FAKE NEWS: I need to set the record straight. I know you loved my tour, now that you have sobered up, you know that too. You tipped me $40.00(on 2 tickets at $49.95, which is a 40% TIP. Thank you!) and took several pictures with me and raved about my tour the whole time. You both even had some extra free drinks at our 'Treasure Stop' and met some locals and snapped lots of pictures. You also enjoyed Key Lime Pie with an infusion of Vanilla Brûlée Rum, 3 conch fritters each, several rum tastings, some extra Cinnamon French Toast drinks and conch chowder, so lets admit.... you had lots of drinks(maybe to many) and some great tastings of local food and the intriguing stories that cover hundreds of years of a great sorted history!
Now, after the tour that you obviously really loved, you asked me to stick around at our last stop and you bought me a couple of drinks... again, Thank You! I enjoyed spending the extra time with you. Then at the persistence of your wife, you asked me and my wife to join you for dinner at a place that we would recommend. We were happy to join you and enjoyed a few drinks and some dinner together. Now, this is where it all fell apart. When your wife had to go to the bathroom and I realized you had all had a few to many drinks at this point, I offered to walk your wife to the bathroom which was a little tricky to get to and a few stairs involved. When your staggering wife finally made it to the bathroom, she choose the one closest, which just happened to be the Men's room. Now, usually 'what happens in Key West, never happened in Key West', but since your wife had to tell you a story that did not happened, I feel compelled to set the record straight. Now, when she went into the men's room, she pulled her dress down and flashed her breasts to all that were in there. Guys started laughing and taking pictures, and I broke it up and said 'hey guys, it's not Fantasy Fest yet, the poor girl is just a little drunk' and that is where is ended and that's what happened. I feel sorry for you that your wife had to make up a story that reflected her in a better light, but seriously, good luck with your 6 month marriage making it a year if this is the way ya'll are going to be acting and communicating with each other. I can send you a copy of any of the pictures taken by a few of the guys, that i just happen to know (it's a small town) so, just let me know! I'd be more than happy to supply the truth to you!
OH, and let's make sure that this is perfectly clear. This did not happen on my tour, and a negative review of my tour is very inappropriate.
PS. you ran out on a $157.10 bill at the restaurant. It would be great if you send that to me!
No Cheers for You.

Was underwhelmed by the food included, it was just your standard Key West offerings available anywhere (and not the best examples either). The tour guide was lively although I think his facts are more fiction. The vouchers at the end were useful, hence three stars.

Ok, I'm going to have to straighten you out. First, most of the food included is well advertised in advance, so you new what you were being offered.(but always be ready for a surprise or two, or a bonus stop) We stop at some of the best 'Taste Makers' in Key West and always make sure to include Key Lime Pie, Conch Fritters, Conch Chowder and lots of Rum and other Adult beverages as these are the 'Top Bucket List' wants of Millions of visitors and we aim to please!
Now, about your 'Foodie' comment. I'm going to have to give you a 1* on your review, because you don't seem to know what a 'Foodie' is or you would not have made such a silly comment. According to Wikipedia, a 'FOODIE is a person who has an ardent or refined interest in food and alcoholic beverages. A 'foodie' seeks new food experiences as a hobby rather than simply eating out of convenience or hunger. The word "foodie" was coined in the 1980's and has become a very overused pop culture lightning rod... poorly defined to the point of meaning everything and nothing at the same time. BUT, we sure do serve food and alcoholic drinks, so we are truly a 'Foodie Tour'! I'm sorry to hear you were so underwhelmed, with what millions of locals and visitors love and crave, but at least now, you are better informed about what you tried to talk about!
And, as to the 'facts' that you speak of.... We certainly claim on our advertising that 'some of the stories will even be true' ha ha ha,,,, This is entertainment steeped in History!!! As one of my local favorite story tellers named Capt. Tony once told many " never let a little bit of truth, get in the way of a great story" Lighten up! History can be fun!!!
Cheers,

Captain K Raven was indeed entertaining and we did enjoy him.
Having said that, the rest was a bust. They start you off with a tour of a rum distillery which is just a marketing ploy. Raven said to pay the extra $10 for a souvenir shot glass and you would get one to one and a half ounces of their rum. No, you barely got a half ounce, if that.
The first place we stopped for a "drink and food" only had beer and wine and the food consisted of fried conch fritters...no more.
The second, and last, place we had a drink and food consisted of a simple rum punch drink and a very very tiny bit of conch chowder!
Really, Plunder?? You have a great idea going, and a great tour guide, and yet you threw in the cheapest possible amount of "food" tasting and drink. Please rethink your game, you might wind up with a winning tour. As it is now, it is a big tourist ripoff.
Our whole group liked KRaven but we ALL were highly disappointed in the rest.

Colorado State of Mind?
You mentioned ‘ Really Plunder??"... Did you really think we were going to Plunder Key West, or did you maybe not realize that you were going to hear some great stories our of Piratical and sorted past and treasure found as a result from it? REALLY??? I think as your fearless guide it would be rather foolish of me to encourage actual acts of PLUNDERING, as I think we would all end up arrested these days for such acts and that can really ruin a good tour and vacation!
Now, you also mention a "marketing ploy" at our first stop. You must be the type that boycotts Disneyland because you always end up in a gift store at the end of the ride. To set the record straight, after an informative 'How it's Made Tour' at the Rum Distillery and consuming the Best Vanilla Brulee Infused Key Lime Pie and enjoying a High Proof rum tasting AND another tasting of your choice at the tasting bar (all included), you have the nerve to imply that it was all a 'Marketing Ploy'? Well let me tell ya, that you were presented with the 'OPTION' of purchasing a FULL tasting experience at the Rum Distillery which is something that they offer. For only $10.00 you can sample ALL of their top shelf rums (usually 8-9 types) and you also get a 3 oz. shot glass souvenir to take home and all the tasting together usually yield about 1-1/2 oz., depending on if you do them all. You intimated that you think you "barely got a half once", but remember, you were sampling out of a 3 oz. shot glass, so let's just say, I am right, and you are wrong! Like they say at the Distillery "Rum is the answer,,, but I forgot the question"!
And, you obviously can't count either, because you state that 'the first place we stopped for a drink and food only had beer and wine and... conch fritters. You must have really enjoyed ALL your rum at our actual first stop, because you forgot to count that as your first stop! Maybe it's time to admit that drinking and Colorado smoking affects your memory! And, at each stop you are offered a drink and an appetizer that is included in the entire tour price of ONLY $49.95 and we purposely pair different foods with different drinks, so thanks for noticing.... sort of....
Now you also stated at "the second, and last, place we had a drink and food consisted of a simple rum punch drink and a very very tiny bit of conch chowder. Ok,,, again to remind your alcohol soaked memory, not to mention your very poor punctuation and sentence forming abilities, that was our 3rd stop and the drink we offer is a Two shot Plunder Rum Punch and The Best Fresh Conch Chowder Tasting Ever!
Maybe you weren't the one that signed up for this Bucket List Drinking, Food Tasting and History Tour, but did you really think that for the awesome all included price of $49.95 per person that you were going to be in line for an ever ending unlimited buffet?
I must brag, that thousands of our visiting 'Krewe' have been satisfied and happily overwhelmed by our quality offerings of Food, Drink and Knowledge. So sad that you could not remember your experience enough to give a proper review! Capt. K’Raven has to call you out and state that Your review is a 'big ripoff' and I as Captain of the ship would have ordered you to walk the plank so that you would not be able to seed anymore lies and deception!
Cheers!

Make this tour one of the first things you do when you get to Key West. Captain Craven will take you ALL OVER old town and introduce you to his friends and the different foods and drinks around old town Key West as-well as some history including a trip to Key West first legal rum distillery where you get to learn how to make a PROPER Mojito (you even get to keep the tools you used to make them with!) and if you do the tour in pirate garb you get "rock star" treatment allover town the rest of your trip

Thanks Ray! (aka: Singray) Showing off this little island as seen through the eyes of a Pirate does give a special perspective for sure! Thanks for coming on tour 'in garb' and adding to the fun and frivolity! I see many more good times in our future! Fair winds and following seas my friends!

Our family loved this tour with Capt. K'Raven....our personal favorite pirate! We started with a delicious conche ceviche at Fishermans Cafe at 205 Margaret Street....the best food on the tour...we went back for breakfast the next day., This was followed by tasting
how key limes can be used in many delicious ways...next day we went back and bought some pieces of key lime pie....so yummy. Also learned why key lime pie tastes so good here!! Then off to Key West First Legal Rum Distillery to be taught to make great mojito's with the Best Rum made at the distillery. We had food, and drink...more key lime!!....at Pacific Jewelry and learned the fascinating history of sunken Spanish ships and their treasure....Spanish coins.....so interesting and fun!! Our last stop was the Chart Room Cocktail Lounge for more libations and peanuts, popcorn and hot dogs!!
A truly memorable tour that had us laughing and enlightened. Thanks to the Captain....be sure to go on this once in a lifetime tour!

Wow, you are making me blush! Thanks so much for the great detailed review. You have summed up why we always recommend to take this tour first, as it sets you up to help you plan the rest of your visit here and get a sample of all the favorites of the island, and lots of suggestions and discounts for some great places on and off Duval. Oh, and stopping at 6 places and having a drink and a food pairing at each place helps to make it fun too!
Cheers,

I must start off by saying please save your $ - this tour is certainly not worth $60 per person! Booked this for a group of 10 based on tripadvisor recommendations - really wish I hadn't. Cpt Kravin is certainly a nice enough guy but this tour is lacking - especially for the cost. I have been on food/pub tours in Charleston, Charlotte, Louisville, Barcelona & Amsterdam and this one most certainly didn't live up to the TA reviews - there just wasn't that much to it. Maybe the info needs to be more exact about what is ACTUALLY INCLUDED: small cup of key lime pie out of the capt's cooler at the rum distillery & few small tastes of rum at the distillery; a beer & a few conch fritters standing at a roadside booth; a trip a jewelry store!!?? where we had a shot of rum chata & fireball; last stop was at a dockside bar for a rum drink & a tiny taste of some kind of fish stew. Capt seemed to be a bit on auto pilot with his informational speeches - he needs to take into account how much interest his audience is showing - even when expressed interest for him to move on to the next thing, he just kept on explaining distillery workings (we had already been on the KY bourbon trail a few years ago so we knew how a still works & 2 of the couples are even from KY). I want to conclude by saying "buyer beware" - hope I have explained EXACTLY what you are getting for $60 per person. I was actually embarrassed after the tour because I had booked this for my friends and they had paid $120 per couple. Price should be about half that honestly - it would been ok for a $30 tour.

After trying to show your group of 10 a good time, I must admit, it’s the first time I came home and told my wife “that’s the worst, loud, most obnoxious, narcissistic, braggadocious, drunken, disrespectful group I have ever had to deal with.”
After 8 of you showing up 10 minutes late, even though your group had requested a special starting time, most of you showed up already 3 sheets to the wind and one of your 1st declarations to me was “we all suffer from ADHD, so good luck Captain.” After spending 3 very very very long hours with y’all, I determined none of you have ADHD at all, you just all suffer from severe rudeness and alcoholism. After 2 more of your group showed up 45 minutes into the tour, you were all so self-absorbed with each other, I might as well have left right then, and let you all wonder off into your own abyss. But, being the strong Captain that I am, I tried to restore some semblance of rule, but I must admit, control or decorum was not something that was going to be established with your out of control group. Every time I tried to say something, I was inundated with requests for MORE SHOTS, MORE ALCOHOL, Let’s Just Drink! Well, I do want to point out, that you obviously signed up for the wrong tour. You signed up for a tour that supplies a drink and an appetizer at all our stops, 3 rum tastings, as well as some great historical stories, architectural points of interest and tales and touching of treasures that swayed the direction of the world. But, you guys just wanted to drink. I’m sorry you felt you had to review our great tour the way you did, but I would like to point out that I was obviously the subject of your displaced anger for choosing the wrong tour. There are plenty of ‘Just Drink Tours’ available in town, that lets you just ‘Rent A Friend’ to take you from one alcoholic drink venue to another alcoholic drink venue, but that is not our tour. I am happy to say that I can even prove that our tour is great and in great demand, and that you are in a very small minority of unhappy participants, by pointing out that over 97% of our reviews on average are EXCELLENT across several review platforms. Even though you did request a ‘Private Tour’ at a set price, you did not request up front that you ‘just wanted unlimited drinks for $60.00 per person’, as I quickly would have pointed you in a different direction at that time. Good luck in the future with making better choices, and I would just like to close with, “I already feel sorry for your next future tour guide”!

My dealings with this company have been poor. They made a mistake with our booking, cancelled our tour then refused us a refund.
We had two nights in Key West and booked this tour for our first evening. Due to getting sick the day before getting to Key West I called the company to see if I could cancel my 2 spaces. I was advised that I was one hour out on the 24 hour cancellation policy but they offered to move our spaces to the following night, which I agreed to.
3 hours before the rescheduled tour was due to start I was emailed to say the tour had to be cancelled due to a St Patrick's Day private event. I called the company to reiterate that we couldn't do the tour any other time as we were leaving the following morning. I asked for a refund on the grounds that if we knew there was no tour we would have attended the original booking. By them booking us onto a tour which was never going to go ahead they caused us to miss out completely. He accepted a mistake had been made in offering us the alternative date but would not accept that their error caused us to miss out entirely and lose 107 dollars, instead blaming me for attempting to cancel in the first place.
The company misled us, they accepted they made a mistake but still refused a refund. I was accused of being "unreasonable" and he put the phone down on me.

My favorite names that I would like to call you are not allowed by Tripadvisor, so I'll have to go with LIAR, BULLY and POND SCUM. I told you on the phone that threatening us with a bad review if we didn't refund your tickets was not a bully tactic we were going stand for and Tripadvisor was NOT designed as a weapon. Shame on you! A severe Keel Hauling would been my order for someone like you back in the day on my ship!
Our cancellation/refund policy is simple and stated clearly on our website prior to making reservations. Refunds will be given if you cancel at least 24 hours in advance of the tour departure time. 3 hours before the tour clearly does not qualify. We did however offer you another day, but our tours were already closed for a private event the only day that you could go because of your limited stay and no spots opened up that day as we informed you. We tried!, but this was not our fault and we made no error. We have a strict refund policy because our tour does require advance reservations and often sells out days in advance as we limit our tours to 15 participants to keep it small and personal. And, we need an accurate head count as food is prepared fresh for our tours daily. By someone cancelling at the last minute and wanting a refund, would mean a loss for our company and a loss for someone else that would have wanted to make advanced reservations and wasted food. However, you are correct by stating that I finally had to put the phone down on you, as you just kept going over and over and over the same thing. I informed you that we offer a 3 hour tour, NOT listening to a 3 hour threatening, repetitive phone call.... good-bye.

Thanks for interest in Plunder Key West. As everyone's appetite and alcohol tolerance is so different, that's a hard question to answer. As you can see by the advertising we offer Key Lime Pie with a Floater of Rum, a tasting of Conch Chowder and a tasting of Conch Fritters, as well as a drink at two restaurants and 3 tastings of Rum at the Distillery. We do start with the Rum tastings and Pie. At our final stop at Two Friends Patio Restaurant they do have a great menu with great prices if you are still hungry, and they also have great happy hour prices before the tour if you want to fuel up ahead of time.... only you know
