OPEN RAIN OR SHINE Come have fun with talking, laughing and dancing...

OPEN RAIN OR SHINE Come have fun with talking, laughing and dancing parrots. Artist and environmental activist Nancy Forrester has been rescuing abused and orphaned parrots for 28 years. Join her at 10 to 11 AM daily for Nancy's special presentation "Parrot 101" or "Storytelling" where guests can take pictures of un-caged birds, hold them and ask questions. We gladly welcome families with children and animal lovers to the Secret Garden to interact with our endangered South & Central American macaws and other parrots. Open 10 to 3 daily. Guided 10 to 11, Self-guided 11 to 3 PM. Educational material for each parrot is offered. Help inspire the birds by spending time with them. Bring a picnic lunch, play musical instruments, paint, write, sing, and dance. Parrots love music and videos played on smart devices! Well behaved dogs welcome. Please, leave your parrots at home! Thank you

We were only in KW a couple short days and did do some touristy things like a boat ride and shopping, etc on Duval. However, finding less cliche and more spirited peeks into what makes a destination truly unique are always what makes a trip memorable and special. Nancy Forrester's Secret Garden is definitely one such place. Nancy herself is... More

Lovely birds to see. Unfortunately for me, fortunate for the owner, an animal behaviour specialist was visiting and she kind of dominated the visit. Didn't get a story on any birds, didn't hold a bird and really, just looked at them through the cage and read the story. I would expect another time would have been more positive, however, I... After checking the attraction's website for the operating hours, we visited on a Sunday morning. As another reviewer said, the attraction is no longer a display garden. Nancy came out and asked us if we wanted to see the rescue birds she keeps, but explained that she is not able to keep up the garden, as the expense is too... More

We went to see the secret garden and were helped by Nancy who was very helpful and informative. While we do respect her dedication to animals there is not much of a garden and the whole experience was a little awkward

We visited this lady's personal home as it was nearby to your inn where we were staying. It was our second visit to the area so we thought we would check out places not seen before. To say in so many words, the visit was interesting....this is a personal home of a very dedicated lady who rescues exotic birds. We... More

I came across this while biking the area. It is a bird rescue & it was amazing! I had no idea this was here & I have been traveling to KW for decades. You should check this out!

Formerly this was a more extensive garden and parrot refuge. Now much of it is being developed and a new home is under construction in the rear. It is in a very poor state, accessed by a litter strewn walkway and so creepy we turned right around. Skip this one.

As other reviews have said, you can walk right by this rather ramshackle home and never recognize it as Nancy's home for wayward and unwanted parrots. Be sure to take the address and look for the one home out of place in an otherwise pristine neighbor. Its a pleasant 20 minute walk from the Southern end of Duval Street for... More

Concur with everything previous reviewers, Kona J and Laurel K, said. If birds are comfortable with you and are "in the mood", Nancy lets you hold and even pet these sweet creatures! Nancy is very interesting and informative, but can get a bit long winded, especially for my ADHD kids, but the personal interaction with her birds is worth it.... More

My daughter and I visited the morning of our departure day back to Ohio. We had a GREAT time! Nancy and Steve really know the birds and it was fascinating to hear about them as I have little bird knowledge. The birds are gorgeous I can see what draws people to them, but after hearing Nancy talk, they sound like... More
