Tropic Cinema is South Florida's only nonprofit multiplex cinema screening 1st-run indie, foreign and documentary films and Hollywood blockbusters every day. With 4 theaters, state-of-the art projection services and the best concessions stand anywhere (we serve wine and beer and drizzle our popcorn with 100% melted butter), it's no wonder Florida Monthly magazine named Tropic Cinema "Florida's Best Cinema" for four consecutive years.

Some of my favorite movies have been shown at the Tropic--The Sapphires; the Conspirator; Papa Hemingway in Cuba; Danny Collins, etc. Some main stream ones, too. Several small theatres under one roof. Popcorn with real butter and a zillion toppings. The usual water and soda,...More

Went on line & the site did not say that the ONE showing of this movie was sold out. I drive 30 miles in the rain to be turned away. Won't be back.

Much of Key West is very "casual" but this theatre adds a sophisticated touch. There are 6 screens that show first run and artsy films. The schedule is printed and in a rack outside the main door. In the lobby is a wonderful full bar...More

The Tropic has a mix of first run and older films with special events as scheduled. A community effort, it is staffed by volunteers and the opening short about turning off your phone and other basic necessities is produced by local high school students. Ticket...More

We spent a rainy afternoon at a matinee showing of a first-run movie with plenty of company. The seating is comfortable and you have three screens from which to choose your film. Prices for seniors are reasonable, and the theater runs with volunteers. A statue...More
