Lots of seaweed, but get over it because the birds love to pick through it. We jumped off the pier (no diving) after watching others. My 2 girls, 7 and 9, loved it. Small beach but nice. Good to snorkel wish we bought our gear. Restrooms and outdoor shower available.

Nice sand, gentle waves, free parking, beach volley ball; Higgs Beach has is it all. This is a short drive from the madness of Duval Street and a great place to relax and enjoy Key West.

This is an attractive place but the rocky beach was a little hard on my feet. Yeah, I am complaining. It is paradise and beautiful so I should just shut up and enjoy the day. The area is great for kids so when visiting Key West, it is worth the time to stop by and dip your feet in the... More

We had gone to Fort Zachary Taylor Beach the day before and were pleased to find this beach less rocky and hard on your feet (water shoes from kmart were an awesome investment by the way). There were lounge chairs and umbrellas to rent ($20 for 2 chairs and 1 umbrella). There was a restaurant, public bathrooms, and a pier... More

I recommend Fort Zachary beach it is much nicer. This beach was just okay. It is small and crowded. Lots of seaweed when we went.

Best place to enjoy. The other beaches are a little more rocky this beach has the cleanest and a BIG PARK FOR KIDS TO PLAY IN . This is a little piece from Duval street but worth the walk or bicycle ride.

It's a beach. Nothing spectacular but it was nice that they helped you with seating. There is history there and that is what made it interesting for me. Nice place to spend an afternoon to just chill out.

One of the best free beaches on the island! Great place to snorkel around the pier. Nice park close by and if you like to drive it does have free parking. Plenty of bike parking also.

Cool little public beach that's clean and has a great playground. Great for kids that might need a little break from the ocean.

Higgs beach is located on Atlantic Blvd in Key west. The beach is large enough to accommodate many people but was never crowded or felt like it was. They have many beach chairs and umbrellas available to rent. You can bring your own if you chose to save some money or bring a towel and lie out in the sun.... More
