The aquarium is a very small place. We expected to have animals swimming above us and such and that’s not the case. There are bunch of small tanks along the wall with fish in it and they are cute, but small. There is a touch...More

We have visited Key West several times in the past couple of years. We thought we would visit the Aquarium this time. What a disappointment it was. Being close to the ocean and a major tourist area, I thought it would be worth the visit......More

We took the kids, and they didn't even enjoy it. We have been to many aquariums all over the country and this was by far the worst, and also most expensive. There is really NOTHING in there. The back side was still half demolished from...More

The KW aquarium may be small but definitely lots of fun things to see for families. The pass you get works for two days so well worth it and if you check out their schedule you can even feed the manta raes.

Even though they say they are still cleaning up after hurricane Irma, this place needs more fish tanks to see. I was there in 1982 and can't say it improved much.More

A small aquarium with nothing going for it except a whacking entry fee of over 15US per person. I felt so sorry for animals in there, especially the turtles that were in solitary confinement in tanks that had not a rock or weed to give...More

Unfortunately, being from Omaha Nebraska where we have the best zoo in the states, we were disappointed with this aquarium. Hands on adventure helps make it a good experience for kids.

The ticket we had allowed us to go back the next day but I reckon 2 hours should do it if you include the shark feeding and the outside fish feeding events.

Tipping in Key West -- Explain it to me... (13 Replies)
I understand tipping street performers, waiters, bar tenders & taxi drivers, but was surprised while I was in Key West that tour guides and boat crews were also soliciting for tips (the Conch Train; Hemingway's house; the Key West Aquarium; the Yankee Freedom II crew; a sunset cruise crew). It's too late now (we left small tips under $10 for some) -- but I'm still curious -- what's the story (are they all underpaid like waiters?) & what's considered a decent tip?

As in any tourist area, EVERYONE has their hand out. I'll tip handsomely if I feel I got exceptional service. Was the crew good with my kids, my wife. Did they smile, laugh at my stupid jokes, give me interesting area information. If so they'll get something extra. If all they did was take my order, bring me my Islandtini with a smile, forget about me until I go to the bar for my next Islandtini. I figure they are being paid to do that, and will tip them as such.

Where are you staying? You are covering a lot of ground here, how will you break up days one and two? Keep in mind that all the attractions you list under stops one, three and four are very close together. You really don't need to use the trolley. You might want to stay on the trolley for a complete loop to get a tour and your bearings around town and then us it to get to the further destinations such as West Martello Tower and Smathers Beach. The West Martello Fort is at Higgs Beach. You...More

Here is a link to the article about Pirate Soul. It is supposed to be open through late spring, tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g34345-i53-k341796… I had a coupon for the Butterfly Conservatory. I think it was buy one get one free. I probably picked it up at one of the kiosks arounf Mallory square. Google Keys Kash. It had lots of vouchers you can print for restaurants and activities. Have a great trip with the little guy!
