Had a great day on the water with Kingbird. Captain Craig got us on the fish quickly and tended to my daughter, family friend’s teenage boys and myself tirelessly. I felt safe and at ease during the entire trip. Craig was professional and patient with all of us, and did a great job. I highly recommend Kingbird

Captain Craig and Lenny are great people and excellent fisherman. The fishing spot they put us on was on point! No sooner did a line go in and we had our first yellowfin snapper. Ended up with 20 keepers that day. Also was able to see a couple sea turtles near bot. The Agra’s did come in and show their presence the guys on boat fought them for a bit of time. I think we had a total of three on hook that day! Also caught a Bonita(so?) which was not radicle but was super pretty to see. If you are ever in the Keys I highly recommend hooking up with these guys for a trip! They took the time to get all acquainted with the proper way to fish. Colleen G Bristol Pa

Kingbird Charters deserves their #1 Trip Advisor rating! They know what they're doing and took excellent care of a party of first timers. Capt Craig is low key and gets things done. He got us out to fish quickly and took good care of us. He and his mate cleaned and packaged all 25 fish in short order and helped us figure out how to get them home with us. We will be doing this again! Read on for the details of our trip... We have been coming to Key West every October since 2010 and had always toyed with the idea of going on a fishing charter and catching "dinner." Not interested in sport fishing. This year things finally aligned and we made it happen! We connected with another couple via Key West Trip Advisor forums and made arrangements for a shared half day trip. We tentatively scheduled for the 10th, on Capt Craig's suggestion, so we could adjust later if weather looked better later in the week. With hurricane Michael blowing by, we moved to the 12th. A beautiful clear day. We shared a cab to Geiger Key, and the 6 of us were underway in short order. Capt Craig is a no-nonsense fisherman who knows his stuff, his mate Lenny was fun to chat with, and he was no slouch either. Three of us were planning to fish, with the other wife watching and soaking up the sun. After a 15 minute blast out to deeper water, and dropping anchor, Craig asked if any of us had been fishing before, when S, the other hubby, said he had, Craig said he needed to show him a few things as deepwater fising is different than freshwater. Quickly done. Meanwhile, Lenny started putting out bait and a chum block to get the fish interested. Within 10 minutes we had hooked our first fish. A couple big (15-20 inch) yellowtail snappers. A lost bait or two followed, then it seemed like we caught 10 more snappers in 45 minutes. All good size. Both Craig and Lenny commented that we were doing great - their last trip had only yielded 3 fish total. We had a few lost hooks, lost bait, tangled lines. Managed to almost hook Lenny once, but all was dealt with in good humor. While we were spooling out our lines, Craig set two sturdy rods with heavy sinkers off one side, baited with live pinfish to try and get a grouper. Those lines caught a 3 foot Cobia - really cool looking fish, but too small to keep. A second hooked cobia got eaten by a shark just before S could bring it in, the line suddenly slacked and S reeled in the head. We had attracted two 7 foot sharks along with a school of 15 or so grunts. We discovered that it was important to reel fast, or the sharks would steal our hooked fish. A young marlin swam by, investigating the bait, but moved on. It really did look like a black trash bag in the water, until you make out the bill. There is little shade on the boat, and not a lot of room. The heat started getting oppressive. Had to take a break and drink some water. We had a lull in bites on our lines, and a run of lost/stolen fish. We caught 3 or 4 blue runners which are the bane of the local fisherman's exsistence, apparently. You can't eat them, they just steal bait and waste time. Lenny unhooked and tossed them back without kindness. We kept saying, "this is the last one," but tossed our lines out again. At last we had had enough, and we agreed it was time to pull anchor. Craig has a pretty cool method to hoist anchor involving a big orange float and metal ring. We motored back to shore. Once the boat was secured, the fish were pulled out of the live well. 25 yellowtail snappers in all. Holy cow! It would have been nice to have some variety, but fresh fish is fresh fish!! Craig and Lenny made short work of fileting the fish, I requested 4 of the smaller ones be scaled and left whole. While they were working, M called around to find out which restaurants will cook your catch, and I called a cab to pick us up, and we were returned to our lodging. It was an awesome day!!

6th of april I went fishing with craig, lenny and steve. As i was interested in catching some nice sized pelagic fish we first went trolling for a couple of hours. Caught some good sized amber jacks, baracuda, tuna and spanish mackerel. Steve and lenny helped the whole time with preparing rods. Only thing i did was reel in the fish! After trolling we did some reef fishing. Caught best fish on the reef: 75 lbs shark!! Gave a good fight and had a lot of fun! All thanks to captain craig and his crew. Doesn't matter what fishing you're interested in. Captain craig comes through! Pricing is also fair compaired to other charters. Thanks for a great day craig! I'm definitely returning someday!
