We came from Myrtle Beach to have a little R & R before going back to school.. We wanted to catch a Tarpon but they had other ideas..not his fault if they not there.. We caught some sharks and other fish before the trip was over. He tried his best and that's all you can do. My dad is a Charter Capt. and we knew what to expect. Capt. Ryan tried his best and that's all we ask.. Thank you for a good day on the water. Come fish with us Ryan if you hit SC in Murrells Inlet on the Marshwalk, Shannon's Sport Fishing Charters. We are on Tripadvisor also.... Thanks...

Captain Rob was on time, professional, knowledgeable, and enjoyable to spend the day with. Plus the fishing was better than ever! Shark, parrot fish, grouper and more!!! I would highly recommend!
Thank you Captain Rob!!

The day was beautiful we hooked up with a couple of tarpon. However, when you spend this much money for a "GUIDED" trip you expect a more personable guide. Steve Davis wanted us to feel incompetent and stupid. We have been fishing for many years but we wanted Key West to be the ultimate fishing experience. Didn't happen!
By the way no bathroom, music and a small amount of ice...plan on spending $500 to do all yourself.

we recently fished with Almost There Charters and have to say we were not impressed. we have been fishing Key West for more than 15 years and decided to give them a try. We were told that we could live bait and keep our catch for dinner. our guide, captain Rob was short and abrupt and spent more time teling us what to fish for than giving us options. the boat was not an 'offshore boat' as stated when we reserved. we sat next to other guides with obviously better boats and equipment and watched them joke, laugh and catch fish... thats all we wanted to do. when we returned and voiced our dissatisfaction, the owners simply said it was just fishing!?? i have fished with many great guides and great operations, this was a joke. you get what you pay for, we got screwed. i will be sending a letter to the Key West Chamber and hope the one i sent to Capt. Coogle will be taken seriously. we will not be using them ever again!!

Houston was our "captain" ...... we were looking for sharks and tarpon. Neither were found. We did however dislike the constant texting and phone ringing and telephone calls while we were fishing. Also .... if one of us got hooked up and needed a new hook put on the pole or help with a fish .... you had to wait until he put the rod down he was fishing with to help you. At one point, there were idle paying customers because he was fishing. Could have been a better experience.

I turned up at 7am for my $775 wreck fishing trip. I didn't even get to put a line in the water. I told the "captain" to turn back after 40 minutes because the tatty old 26 foot boat clearly couldn't cope with the wind and sea conditions. It couldn't straddle the waves and was was slamming in each and every trough. As I held a captians license in the UK and have been boating for 30 years I feels I understand when a company has put its profit before my comfort and safety. I went back to the Key West harbour at 9.30 to see all but the very largest boats exactly where they should have been, firmly tied up. A Pizza chef whose hasn't had more than 4 hours sleep a night for a month isnt someone I want to be in charge of my safety is rough seas, and doesn't deserve to be called captain. Subsequently I booked a 42 foot boat (Miss Britt ,Miami) with another crew a week later and they called to cancel in much milder conditions. There are still some good people out there but Almost There Sportfishing Charters doesn't seem to have any of them on their payroll.

We booked a charter here for fishing in April 2012. We had a terrible day for fishing, as it was too wind and the boat was so small that it was really a joke. This was our first time chartering a boat in Key West and will definately not go back here. When I tried to call them after our trip to complain we never even received a phone call back. I would never suggest to book with this group. Once they had our money, they had no desire to make sure our experience was good.

Boat had no working radio, no cup holders, & toilet was in a tiny storage space that reeked like engine oil. I understand they cannot guarantee fish, but captain was not informative at all. He would give us a rod, then few minutes later he would scold us for not using the correct technique. How are we suppose to know if you didn't tell us anything. We have a fishing camp at home so we are definitely not beginners. If you want to enjoy yourself regardless of catching fish (we caught maybe 7 fish in 6hrs), go elsewhere. And if you want to catch fish, go elsewhere.

I went on 2 fishing trips with Almost There on my vacation to Key West. The first was a backcountry trip. After 2 hours of picking at the same tiny fish we could catch off the beach, we asked the captain what the plan was. He said he was planning on picking at these fish.. slowly might I add... We then asked to do some tarpon fishing because we didnt pay 450 dollars for nothing. We then spent an hour watching other boats hook up multiple times.

The second trip was a long planned 10 hour fishing trip for me and 3 of my friends. We called and asked to bring along a 5th person and they said it would be another 150 dollars. At first the captain seemed friendly and excited to get out there, but after the first couple of hours it seemed like he just didnt care. We told him we werent beginners and could help baiting hooks and everything and he took that as we were experts and any and all help stopped. We sat there for hours trying to hook fish none of us even cared to try for.. and didnt hook up at all. Then we tried some offshore and drove around searching for birds for hours on end, only to catch a few very small mahi mahi that the captain told us would be embarrassing to bring back to the dock. After a few more hours of driving around, we asked to go to a reef to maybe bring some dinner to the table. He brought us to a spot, rigged us up with weights way too light to even feel bottom. told us to put an entire ballyhoo on each hook, and told us to just drop and wait. Noone even remotely knew what to do or if they were on the bottom or anything and got no help from the captain. We came back 10 hours and 1000 dollars later without a single thing to show for it except a couple of pictures with "embarrassing" fish. I would not recommend these guys for anyone.
