Rented 2 Pontoon boats for the day. Took them out to the Sandbar and everyone had a blast. We were suppose to return them by 6 but Ryan said that the gas pumps close at 4:30 and since we were staying at Coconut Palms to just keep boats there overnight and return at 8 the next morning and fill up the gas and that will save us $0.45 a gallon with us filling up. Thanks for working with us. The boats were clean and in great condition and would recommend them to anyone looking to rent a boat in Taverneir.
Thanks,
Bob

My wife and I rented a pontoon for half a day. Ryan was very professional and patient. He took his time in explaining how to operate the vessel , programmed the GPS to ensure we reached our destination and got back safely, and answered all of our questions. In addition , he thoroughly cleaned the pontoon and put a full tank of gas before our departure. I highly recommend key largo water sports and will rent from them again.

Rented the pontoon boat for the day for snorkkeling and having fun. I asked about bringing our dog and they told us they love dogs. Chris was great at setting us up, showing us how to operate and where to go. It is perfectly located for either ocean or bayside day trips.price was reasonable to other boat rentals, and best of all KLW does the renting online which meant I got to see the inventory, choose my boat and got a confirmation and my receipt. The boat was in almost excellent condition. Will definitely use them again. Keep up the great job.

We reserved and paid in advance for a deck boat for 9 adults including my 80 yr old mother to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. Four members of our party traveled down early in the morning to join us. When we arrived at the marina it was difficult to find someone affiliated with the company. We were eventually met and escorted to our boat but when powered up we were told it was inoperable and there was no other boat for us. It took 5 days for our refund to be issued. No compensation was offered for our inconvenience. We were told "these things happen". Maybe if the boat had been checked on the day before this could have been avoided. Lack of foresight and planning resulted in a very stressful situation for us and ultimately a rental from another company which cost us twice as much.

Booking was easy and the boat ran well. That was the only positive out of my experience with this company. Called to let them know we would be 45 minutes late for our full day boat rental pick up which was scheduled for 10am. When we arrived at 10:45 the boat was still being cleaned which took another 30 minutes. There were no other customers there. When we got in the boat the man said “oh looks like the previous renters broke the side door off, is that going to be on with you?” Obviously a safety hazard in general but we also had 2 children and 2 dogs and that is the only entrance/exit to the boat so no that is not okay. He offered to do a temp fix but we wouldn’t be able to open and close the door it would be permanently bolted closed. So we agreed as all other boats were rented for the day. While giving us the “safety” check he proceeded to open compartments and find there was no anchor in the boat and there was a ton of trash and cans that were never removed when the boat was “cleaned.” So again we waited another 30 minutes for him to find another anchor and clean up the trash out of compartments. As we are getting ready to leave he says let’s check the gas. Well wouldn’t you know we were near empty. So now we had to drive around to the gas dock and wait for the other boats to get out so we could refuel before leaving. We were delayed over an hour waiting for cleaning, fixes, and gas. When we finally got underway we get to the sand bar and when trying to get out of the water the front swim ladder fell completely apart when we pulled it down. Luckily the back ladder was intact. We took pictures of the condition of the boat and the empty door hinges prior to departure.
I’ve worked at a marina and been in charge of boat rentals and I’ve rented my fair share of boats while on vacation. This was the most unorganized place I’ve ever rented from. There wasn’t even a manager or anyone on site to deal with our concerns. I was told their headquarters are in New Jersey. I called and left 4 messages with the company to discuss all the issues and still have never received a call back. Hopefully this was just a one off bad experience. But be aware if there is an issue there is no one to speak with about it.

Hi,

Our boat rental experience was very frustrating. Your company is a disgrace for your industry and the Florida Keys for the reasons described below.

1. We were fined $50 because our VAN was parked in an unauthorized location. When parking our car we asked with your employee if the parking we used was the right one. Your employee confirmed to me that it was; we parked in from her car that was on. When questioning the charge to the person in charge of the crane, he told us that he is not familiar with your operations/staff because you don't have an office in the area. At the time of parking there is no parking warning sign. Basically our car was replaced by the parking warning sign.

2. Incorrect direction to the Christ of the Abysms Monument - Your employee instructed us to go north from your location to get to the Monument. It was actually the other way around. We got lost before realizing that we got incorrect directions. Also your employees didn't have a clue on how to manage the boat's GPS.

3. Gas - we asked your employee if we had enough gas to get to the Christ of the Abysms Monument. She told us that we had more than enough Gas on one of the tanks to get to our destination and come back; she didn't believe that we needed to use the 2nd tank at all. Unfortunately we didn't make it to the Christ of the Abysms because the first tank went empty before reaching our destination. We could run any chances to run empty on the 2nd tank on our way back.

4. When we got to your place we were surprised that we needed to return the gas tanks full at return. Once there we had no option to agree upon. This is the 1st time that I was charged for Gas on a boat rental; $200 in this case. The contract really specifies that excess of gas will be charged.
The lack of information and your employees lack of knowledge on your business is frustrating and can put your clients in an unsafe situation and put their life at risk. Not to mention the risk of property damage hiding our VAN from us when supposedly wasn't parked correctly even we asked your employee about it.

Hello my name is Phillip groskinsky. I rented a boat for a 2 day rental. I arrived around 9am and got set up. Lady at dock was very helpful and great to work with. Once I got out into open water boat just felt really slow and was almost impossible to get a speed over 9 to 10mph. I had 4 passengers and with 3 in bow of boat still was plowing water extremely bad. We made to Hen and chick's reef after almost hour or better or travel time. We did have some great fun diving with the fish. After a cpl hours my daughter was climbing onto back of boat and I noticed it taking on a quiet a bit of water coming on board. I immediately unhooked from bouy and started to head a shore. Trip back to the home base took me 1.5 hours at a speed of 6mph. Once back i was grabbing belongings and box under control station was completely full with water. I had a 1500$ dji mavic air 2s drone that took some serious damage because of so. It also really scared my children. For the second day of rental they didn't even want to go out because of so. I was informed once grabbing belongings left on boat that the bilge pump fuse was out and pump was not working and was close to sinking boat. I spent quiet a bit of money for this experience and ontop of it all have about 350$ in damaged belongings because of flooding under center council area. I've wrote email with no reply just simply asking for a partial refund. Nothing back as of yet. Spent over 1000$ kinda disappointed.
Thanks Philip groskinsky

Phil, ok let's be honest you had no knowledge there was anything wrong with the boat. After you and your family left the dock after the 1st day and said you had an amazing day. You did mention the boat was a little sluggish on the way in. I did an inspection of the boat and found the fuse had blown for the bilge pump and there was more water in the bilge than there should have been. Problem was fixed and when you arrived on the 2nd day I said I found and repaired the issue and that is why the boat was a little sluggish. You indicated that you and your family got excessively sun burned and were going to drive to key west for the day and may use the boat later that day. Then you wrote a dramatic email much like this review and you saw the opportunity to get money for complaining. Nothing was ruined or wet, You kids were not frightened. Remember i was there. You should be ashamed of yourself.

When calling to inquire about the rental of the boat, the manager stated she'd be there to explain and instruct how to use the boat, etc. When we arrived, the manager was not there, instead an ESL worker and teenage worker were present. When out at sea, we did not feel equipped enough to continue driving the boat and asked to bring the boat back for a half day rate vs. a full day rate. Over the phone, the manager suggested she give us proper instructions and that we could use the boat the next day, however, it was our last day in the area. I asked to pay for the time the boat was used, and she said because one of the cushions was missing (which we didn't know happened), I'd have to pay $90 - making the refund a wash. When emailing the owner he responded that he wouldn't honor a 1/2 day rate. For those who choose to rent from the company, be sure that all cushions are secure in place or ask to not have the cushions at all. The manager, after the fact, says this happens every so often, and most people remove the cushions before boating and put them in the middle of the boat to secure them. Because we didn't have the opportunity to speak to the manager about all of these details, we had no idea the cushions were prone to flying off of the seats. Would hate for others to incur extra expenses or charges.

We rented a 22’ Bennington pontoon for my husband’s 40th Birthday. First I’d like to say that I called and searched all over Key Largo, Tavernier, and Islamorada searching for the perfect boat at a reasonable price. Based on reviews and customer service, I went with Key Largo Watersports and am so glad I did. It was a beautiful boat, in excellent condition (pretty much new) and very comfortable for our family which included 2 young children and my husbands parents who are between their late 60s and early 80s. My husband has a little experience boating but we are not avid boaters by any means. Thankfully, Ryan met us at the marina in Tavernier and was so nice! He showed us everything we needed to know, set us up with the GPS, and gave us some tips on where to go taking into consideration it was a windy day. We had an awesome time, and got a full day’s worth out on the sandbar and cruising around the bayside. The whole family loved the experience. I highly recommend this company and will definitely come back next time we stay in the Keys.

I rented a pontoon boat for my family last weekend. We went to the sandbar to swim but it was overcast and windy. When we tried to leave, the boat did not start. We had to wait one hour for a towboat to jump it (the company offered to send someone out but it would take longer than the towboat). We asked for a partial refund as we were not able to use the boat for the 4 hours we paid. The manager refused. saying that "we had the boat the entire four hours". I wonder if we would have been charged for additional hours if it would have taken longer for the towboat to come!!!!
