My son and I have spent three seperate weeks diving last two years with Rainbow Reef, plus took EFR, Rescue and Wreck certs there. First class operations - reservation specialists (and hotel packages), check-in staff, gear rental, etc. Friendly, informed and helpful - great perm staff hiring. Captains Nikita, Lou and Dan are terrific and run safe, tight ships. Best instructors we experienced have been Jennida and Paul H (outstanding - experienced, patient, courteous and great communicators). Guides and first mates can be uneven, but mostly excellent (attentive, safety-focused and know wrecks and reefs). There are a few that are not communicative and a bit too relaxed. Guided groups were never greater than eight (usually six or less). Retail store is annoying - nothing is price tagged and everything can be 'discounted' free-style (Divers Direct is close bye as an alternative). We will always use Rainbow Reef when diving north of Marathon.

The dynamic duo of Capt Dan and Diver Dina are awesome. I have been diving for five decades now, and I can say with some authority Capt Dan and Diver Dina are the best. They are extremely professional, knowledgeable and excel in service. They are credit to Rainbow Reef as well as the entire dive industry. As a dive instructor myself the highest compliment I can give is I would trust Capt Dan and Diver Dina to take any of my loved one’s diving. I have been diving every year for the past 30 years in Key Largo. First with Ocean Divers and now with Rainbow Reef and they have continued to provide superior care and service. They are truly a 5 Star diving center. Thank you Capt Dan and Diver Dina as well as the entire Rainbow Reef team. Woody

We loved the boats that Rainbow Reef had, as they were spacious. The location was convenient to the Marriott Courtyard and Holiday Inn. We dove with multiple dive guides, and Bella was by far the absolute best. She was slow and patient with all divers in the group. She was also the only dive guide that kept checking the groups’ air pressure and took the time to show us the small and large creatures in the water. I have some complaints for this dive operation which make this rating go low. On 8 different dives, there were WAY too many people per dive guide. We had 12-13 people with one guide!!! And 6 divers got separated from 1 group because the dive guide was swimming too fast and rarely checked On the divers. All 6 divers ended up surfacing at another boat and had to swim 200 yards back to the Rainbow Reef original boat. On 3 dives we were NEVER asked about how much air we had. Consistently, 2 dive guides were swimming way too fast and it seemed as if were doing the dives for their own pleasure instead of guiding paying customers- as they were taking pictures and video and then downloading them to their phones after the dive. All of the excuses around “liability” were hypocritical. I had a hose on my personal equipment that needed an O-ring to be changed, and the dive guide said “I can’t help change an o-ring because of liability...”. Well.... I dive once a year, so would your rather have liability with me changing it, and the possibility of it not installed correctly and something bad happening in the water under your watch? And then they go and put 13 divers with 1 guide and lose half of the group? On 2 occasions, we dove sites that had 4-6 boats already on the site in good weather conditions. So there were 60+ divers on one site getting intermingled. They also gave me a rental computer and it was broken so last minute before I got in the water the dive guide gave me another one. They also will not keep personal gear onsite. So we had to carry our gear back and forth from the hotel every day. This operation boasts they have trained more PADI instructors than anywhere in the US... Maybe you should focus more on QUALITY vs quantity. As much as the Captain’s incessantly BEGGING for a 5 star rating after every trip, there is no way I could give anything near that rating for this operation- especially if you are diving with children or anyone who doesn’t dive these sites on a regular basis.

Great week of diving with rainbow reef. Captain Dan and first made Dina were absolutely first rate. these two dive professionals were quick to attend to any need our group required and we’re extremely flexible in accommodating our requirements as we worked to to certify our group. The personal attention and their attention to detail really made the difference in our overall experience. We look forward to coming back to rainbow reef to dive with Dan and Dina soon!
