My husband and I recently took five trips out with Sail Fish Scuba over the course of three days (late October). This was probably one of the best diving experiences we have had! The weather didn’t cooperate on the first few days we had planned to go out, but they were incredibly accommodating and flexible. Jen communicated regularly with us throughout the week until we could finally get out. It was apparent in everything she did/said that their primary focus was on providing us with a great diving experience, not on turning a profit. I have found this customer-focused outlook to be harder and harder to come by in a business these days, and the ways in which SFS went the extra mile to take care of us is something I can’t emphasize enough.
When we arrived at the shop we were both fitted with rental gear, which was great quality and well-maintained. I was nervous having not been diving in over a year, but after just a few minutes of talking to Mike and Jen, all nerves were gone! The atmosphere is very calm and relaxed, yet professional.
The weather was still a bit sporty for the first day, but the diving did not disappoint! The shop provided recommendations ahead of time regarding sea sickness preparation – I highly recommend EVERYONE follow them! We didn’t and we regretted it… Neither my husband nor I have ever experienced any sort of seasickness, but that changed and my husband ended up sharing his lunch with the fish. He tried the medication before the next trip and felt rock solid. Don’t take the risk!
Overall, I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Sail Fish Scuba. They provided us with dive guides without charging an additional fee. Mike and Tom were both excellent, and even acted as professional underwater photographers in addition to guides. And the best part – the pictures were all shared with us for free on the shop’s blog! Captain Bill was helpful and entertaining. And then there was the diving itself – despite having some sporty weather, I was blown away by the amazing underwater life in the Keys. We experienced turtles, sharks, rays, angel fish, and even a dolphin swimming right through our dive group (we were told that one was quite rare). Without a doubt, I will be returning to Sail Fish Scuba in the near future and would give them the highest recommendation to anyone looking to dive or snorkel near Key Largo!

Thanks for seeing the ( Sail Fish Scuba difference ) - that YES....We truly care more about our customers by far than we ever do about turning a profit, heck - most days honestly we lose so much money running just 2 or 3 customers....We are actually paying for ya'll to be diving with us! is why I keep coming back to Sail Fish Scuba. Yesterday I joined four other divers and our guide, Mike for a two tank dive to the Christ stature and Horseshoe reefs. As always, Sail Fish Scuba took the time needed to ensure everything was ready and safe before and during departure. Captain Bill, dive guide Mike, and snorkel guide Tim all shared important information about boat and dive safety and the dives we were about to do. On both dives, Mike made sure our group saw interesting creatures and features all while taking pictures to share and watching us to ensure we were all safe.
I keep coming back to Sail Fish Scuba because I know I will be safe and have a great diving experience with hundreds of pictures of my dives that they provide to all dive and snorkel guests. Another great experience with Sail Fish Scuba is their kayak adventures, again with pictures provided. Don't dive the Keys without checking out Sail Fish Scuba as your place to start.

Jen and Sail Fish went over and beyond with all my first-timer questions trying to navigate a scuba and snorkel experience in the Keys for a group of 11. She was quick to return phone calls and her attention to detail was top notch. We were a group of families looking for a SCUBA/snorkel combo trip with first-time snorkelers including young kids, first time SCUBA diving adult and tweens/teens, experienced adult divers who needed an online refresher option, and a ride-along retired SCUBA diver—they had us covered and were super accommodating every step of the way. Unfortunately the high winds in the Keys were out of their control and didn’t allow us to go out in the reef to dive as planned, but Sail Fish was quick to communicate and offer alternative options complete with pictures and a play by play description of what to expect. We will absolutely turn to Sail Fish every time we dive in Key Largo in the future! Their customer service is above and beyond anything we’ve seen!

The first day started out kind of rough, luckily Sail Fish Scuba hooks up all your gear and makes sure it works before leaving the dock. This is something that doesn’t happen with all dive companies and I was grateful they do this because when I hooked up my regulators my octopus was free flowing and would not stop. Since we hadn’t left the dock yet which just happens to be right behind their building I was able to go back inside to get this fixed before we left. The equipment I use is Aqualung which isn’t something they service so they (the owners Chris and Jen) removed my octopus and replaced it with one of theirs so I could go on the dive. Then to go a step beyond while I was out diving they took my octopus to an authorized Aqualung service center to have it checked out and had it waiting for me when I got back from my dives. Also this was all done without a single additional charge. Furthermore, as the weather in Florida is unpredictable Jen was extremely accommodating by informing me of any schedule changes due to weather and working with me to move things around ensuring I got all the dives I wanted.
As for the crew you couldn’t ask for a better bunch of people. I’m not sure where they found them but all of them were very personable, patient, knowledgeable, and funny. The dive briefs were very informative and entertaining as they would get everyone on board involved ensuring everyone was relaxed and ready to have a great time. During my time there I was lucky enough to dive with Instructors/Dive Master/guides Tim, Mike and Tom. All of which made each dive a fun, memorable and a safe experience. They know the area very well and were able to find and point out various items and sea creatures both large and small that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. Additionally, the ongoing joke on the boat was what do you call the dive master who doesn’t like to get wet? “Captain” and with that Captain Bill is and outstanding boat captain who is always there to tell a quick joke and bring a smile to your face. Once you're at the dive site he is always there to ensure you get in and out of the water safely and to welcome you back onboard the boat.
As an added bonus they all take pictures in and out of the water then share them with you for free.
Overall I had a great time/experience with sail Fish Scuba and will definitely dive with them again.

I have used Sail Fish Scuba as my “go to” Florida, summer dive destination for several years now. From the first time I dove with them till now the only thing that has changed is that they get better and better. Owners Chris and Jenn run a very professional operation that emphasizes safety..but also promotes the fun and excitement of scuba diving. From their well-stocked shop to available diving to their friendly staff..everything is top notch. I love that their dive guides take photos on all dives and you can get them off their blog..free! I had the pleasure of diving with Tom, Rick, Tim, Mike and a guest appearance from Boo. Captain Bill is a riot....yet when we had a maintenance issue one day enroute to a dive site he left the humor behind and expertly, professionally handled this situation. (I am a Captain on a different type of vessel...I feel qualified to judge.) Bill used available resources to keep the vessel underway and safe while he expertly troubleshot the problem. Though he was not able to fix it enroute he made a command decision, turned the ship around and returned us to the dock safely. From the “little things” (snacks and water on board, a shower on board and at the dock, gear storage and cleaning) to the big things (safety, availability, professionalism) Sail Fish Scuba is the BEST dive shop I’ve used since I took up the sport 6 years ago. I’m only half way through my vacation with them and I am already scheming to come back down for more diving soon! Go see them...you will NOT be disappointed!

This place is amazing!!! Sail Fish Scuba is the best dive shop/operator in Key Largo by far!. They are professional, and run a fantastic, customer oriented business. They lead fun, safe and very personalized dives and snorkel tours for their customers making it a great experience. One of the best things about Sail Fish Scuba is the small size of the groups - and they always include a dive guide. That same evening you get to see all the pictures they take of you and the all the fish and other creatures and you can download them for free (Yes! pictures are included in the tour price)
If you are looking to get any instruction this is the dive shop to go to. Great and caring staff and the divemasters and instructors are very knowledgeable and professional. My boyfriend and I got scuba certified with them three years ago and we always go back to them for fun dives and to complete advanced and specialty courses. We look forward to diving with them regularly and cannot recommend them enough.
If you are looking to get any instruction this is the dive shop to go to. Great and caring staff and the divemasters and instructors are very knowledgeable and professional. I recently completed my Advanced Open Water with dive instructor Mike at Sail Fish Scuba. Mike has a passion for teaching and it shows! This was my second time diving with SFS and I will be back again. I specifically incurred hotel and rental car expense to travel to SFS vs. getting AOW near my folks place in Jupiter because I knew they would give me the best experience. I feel like I got so much more instruction than what the AOW course included. It was a very low pressure and fun learning experience but the learning never stopped! Mike took me through Intro to Rescue, Deep, Navigation (with extra instruction because it wasn't clicking for me), Naturalist, Wreck, Buoyancy and Search and Recovery. I loved completing all of the underwater skills and can't wait to continue my scuba education with SFS. Mike was quick to celebrate my success and was so complimentary of my skill level for my ~45 dive career so far. His recognition helped boost my confidence. He is so humble yet, so experienced. Anyone that has the good fortune of learning from him is in for a world class experience.
I also want to give instructor Tom a shout out. I didn't work 1:1 with him, but he made a point to introduce himself and get to know me and even remembered and used my name throughout my 2 day visit. Tom is a kind hearted grandfather to the world and another diver that you would be lucky to have in the water with you. He has an extensive diving record and was excited to show me his video diving with dolphins in the Red Sea. His wonderment of that experience was an inspiration to me - we will never get bored of what the ocean holds for us.
I was there solo and felt completely comfortable and 100% safe at all times. The entire crew was so friendly that I never felt alone. I left with new friends that combined, have thousands upon thousands of dives and a passion for sharing their knowledge and expertise in the most humble way. This certification was me committing to my love of diving and I am so happy that Sail Fish Scuba is where I will have these memories of such a pivotal accomplishment. I can't thank you all enough for your patience, grace and care.

Where do I even begin? My partner and I were taking a quick trip to Key Largo and wanted to dive for a day while there. I scoped out some shops online and decided to book a half day 2-dive trip for both of us with full gear rental. The communication leading up to the day was clear and concise from the shop and I was able to prepay ahead of time for everything. We arrived on the day of our tour and checked in, completed waivers, and got fitted for gear before boarding the boat and heading out. Little did I know, my partner was planning a surprise proposal (underwater during our second dive) and the whole crew was in on it the whole time. Not only were the dives and guides all incredible, they made the day SO fun and everything went flawlessly. Megan and Mike were the stars of the show and made our day so much fun, knew how to perfectly distract me through it all, and needless to say...we are now happily engaged! The photos and video that Megan took were sent to us within 2 days and the quality is just incredible. I am still in shock and can't believe how perfect our day was thanks to Sail Fish. We had champagne on board and just had the best day ever. I can't thank you enough and highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a fun day on the water while in Key Largo!

Let me start out by saying that I was not an actual customer of Sail Fish Scuba, but with another company that only did snorkeling. I lost my camera on the Bendwood wreck, and because it is quite deep I was unable to retrieve it myself. I wrote to many local scuba companies, but this is was the only company that wrote me back. They told me they hadn’t found it yet, but they even rescheduled both their dives and told all their divers to look for it. When they didn’t find it, the owner even went out personally to look as well. They even recommended another scuba company who could have found it that I hadn’t written too. They also sent me all the pictures they had taken when they looked for my camera to see if I saw anything they had missed. They went above and beyond for someone that wasn’t even a customer. I would totally recommend this company based on their care for other humans and willingness to go above and beyond for others. These people have made the sadness of losing the camera better just with their kindness. If you’re looking to choose a company to trust with your time, choose these people who really care about other people and their company.

Jen couldn’t have been more concerned or gracious, and even offered to reschedule us on the afternoon tour to snorkel instead so we could still get out on the water, but we decided to pass on her generosity due to the pandemic and not wanting to be a burden on the rest of the group.
We will definitely be back to Key Largo at some point (I still would love to see Molasses Reef and John Pennenkamp, or some of the other gorgeous reefs we’ve heard and seen photos about!), hopefully soon, and we will absolutely be coming back to use Sail Fish Scuba because of their commitment to safety, kindness, and flexibility.
The online process booking was super easy as well, which was an added bonus. Highly recommend when you are in Key Largo, and I will be recommending to my friends who dive in person as well.

Yes they have boats that handle both divers and snorkeling. I would advise going to the Christ of the Abyss site since it's not that deep and you can snorkel the site and he can dive. I dove this with my husband and saw snorkelers around above me. But not a lot of people

We are a family of four. Two children aged 14 and 9. All can swim but one adult and 9 year old probably more confident/relaxed with buoyancy aid. Do you think we would enjoy the 2-location snorkelling trip you advertise on website or should we be more confident in water to make the most of this trip ?

As we are the only operator in the Keys to always have a snorkeling guide in the water for every group of max 8 snorkel guests, I don't think you will have any problems with our tour.
We provide all snorkel gear/guide/FREE set of photos taken by guide & snorkel vest or swim noodle all in our tour cost.

I think the snorkel trip would be appropriate. Snorkel vests, pool noodles and in water guides are provided. In addition, you will be right next to the boat.

Hello, My husband and 19 year old son are interested in a dive. It has been awhile since they have been diving(just didn't have the opportunity) and my husband is a little nervous about remembering everything. Would a scuba tour be good for them? Would it be better to do a shore dive to get back into the swing of it? Is there anything they would need to do ahead of time?

That's a great question and we are really happy that you asked. While a shore dive is a great adventure, it is still diving with different challenges. The recommendation is that if you have been out of diving for a year or more, you should take the Re-Activate class (formerly Scuba Tune Up). Kudos to your husband for recognizing the need to refresh his skills. There is an academic component that he would complete prior to arriving at Sail Fish Scuba. He would spend the morning with an instructor at the pool practicing his skills. Then he is ready to dive the afternoon boat! Check out our web page for more information or call us here at the shop. I was certified NAUI but can't find my 20yo cert, I've tried! My 12 yo daughter did an intro course in Cayman with me including a 30 ft reef and 45 ft wreck dive at Kittiwake. I'd like to recert and she wants to cert online with the dives down there.
Hubby and son might want to snorkel, he's hesitant, doubt they'll dive.
What are our options? Thanks!!

If you have exhausted NAUI researching for your card, you will have to complete the PADI Open Water Certification class. This consists of an online training module - PADI Open Water E-learner. This is completed before you come to dive with us and is paid directly to PADI - $179.00. The practical portion of the class is completed here in Key Largo. You will review the training module with our instructor. Then you will go to the pool to complete the confined water exercises and learn how to use the gear underwater. The final step is completing 4 Open Water dives over two days. The fee for the practical training is $415.00 and is paid directly to Sail Fish Scuba. Our tours are appropriate for divers and snorkelers alike, so other family members can be on the boat and snorkel while you are completing your Open Water dives.
