While looking on Groupon for fun outside activities for me and my son to do, I found the Princess Glass Bottom Boat tour. We’re in lauderdale, so I thought it would be nice to drive down for the day. We got there and were able to board right away. Parking was easy. The boat departed right on time and we sat on the top deck, while getting some sun and looking at the beautiful views. On our way to the reef, we saw so many dolphin jumping in the water! I was also able to see a sea turtle. Once we got to the reef, we went to the lower deck and went inside where the viewing area is. The ac was pumping so it felt great. The crew member was great at pointing out the different sea life and giving a little history on the keys. Overall great experience! Would do it again.

I thought this trip was well worth the cost, especially for those of us who are not swimmers and can't get the whole breathing thru the snorkel thing. The crew members did a great job with social distancing (I thought) and had mandatory masks in the enclosed cabin for viewing. Great job telling us where to look and explaining about the reef and the fish.

My wife and I enjoyed this trip overall. However, there is minimal seating on the upper deck, which is a bit tough if you are elderly. On the reef, unless you get early to the viewing areas, it is again a bit tough to find a spot to stand, especially if you need something to hang on to (i.e., if you are elderly and mobile but a little 'wobbly' under wavy conditions). Having said all of the above, my wife and I both enjoyed our trip out to the reef, and especially the youngish gal who described (very well) what we were seeing out on the reef. Highlights for us included: a sea turtle, barracuda, many various fish, and especially those small who consume the coral and produce ~1/3 of the 'sand' on the beaches in the Keys. Overall, I recommend this trip!.

Thank you for your recommendation. We have had top side seating before and we found it to be a serious safety issue and had to have it removed. However, we are glad to hear you and your wife enjoyed your time out with us and we hope to see you both again soon.

I booked the tour so my brother and our wives could witness the reefs from the safety of the boat versus in the water. I had toured the reef in 1962. I was shocked to see the desolation of the reef and the lack of fish. I assume the boat tried to show us the best of the reef.
Also, I have a severe hearing loss and am currently in the first stages of learning how to understand a cochlear implant. I should have made that clear when I booked and asked if you had any accommodations for the hearing disabled. Unfortunately, I didn't and regret that. My guests say that your guide was very knowledgeable .
We are from Savannah, GA and my brother lives at Ocean Reef. He told me about the Cary's reef project.

Thank you for the 4 star rating, we try to teach people about the connection between what we do on the land and the effect it has on our oceans, there are several reef restorations projects in the Keys, from artificial reef creation to the replanting of corals.

We wanted to sneak in a sunset cruise while in key largo for 2 days. We found key largo princess right outside our Holiday Inn room!

They offered 2 hour reef cruises in their glass bottom boat and had one departing at 4 pm! What a bargain reef cruise with a sunset to boot!

The price was almost half of what the other sunset cruises would cost and was a half hour longer!

The boat trip to the reef was nice and smooth and we were able to purchase adult beverages on board.

The reef was kind of quiet , but the crew provided a very informative and entertaining narration about what we were seeing and how we can help protect the reef (one of the largest in the world)

On the way back we were all treated to a spectacular sunset!

The boat narrator told everyone the ride would be rocky and it was. However, more appropriate words would be thrill seeking. It was so rocky we were scared we wouldn't make it back. Others were getting sick. Thank goodness we didn't. Afterwards we sat in the car for 30 minutes to calm down. Never again. Recommend calling them the morning of for conditions if extremely rocky and thrill seeking are not for you.

We are sorry that Mother Nature and King Neptune were not getting along during your trip with us, we do try to provide the conditions as we know them at the time of the trip but it is nature in action.......

The good: check-in was very easy, and there's a good diner across from the hotel. No problem finding the boat, and plenty of room on board to stretch out. You can go topside for some sun or below for air conditioning. The ride was smooth (only one rough spot, not enough to bother this seasickness-prone passenger), and the commentary was interesting. The bad: There wasn't much to see. We went on a 1:00 outing, and she explained that we didn't see many fish because most of the interesting predators are out in the twilight, along with their prey. The colors of the reef are not as specacular as some others. But if you look as it as a pleasant, informative boat ride you'll have a great time.

This tour is pretty expensive for the amount of actual glass bottom time you get. It was about 15 minutes of boating slowly to see the coral area, but the boat was scaring everything away and we didn’t really see anything except coral. Expensive drinks, and I wasn’t allowed to bring my water bottle on the boat, so they are forcing your hand in buying expensive drinks, and then asking for a tip at the end. Not impressed overall, would not do again.

Nikki, thank you for taking the time to rate and review our trip. We spend thirty minutes over the reef unless conditions do not allow it. I am sorry you found the Coral a bit underwhelming but it is a trip to the "Coral Reef", the boat generally does not "scare" fish and sea creatures are like people sometimes they have things to do and places to be. As long as it was water in you water bottle then there should not have had any issue bringing it aboard. I am sorry that you found the cruise expensive but given the recent rise in Fuel, payroll, dockage. and expenses in general our pricing is right where it has to be.

It was a pleasant way to see the reefs with two VERY young kids. I probably would not go on this tour again, once was enough. I have snorkeled the reefs and that is the ideal way to see LOTS of bright fish. I was hoping we would see the statue of Jesus, but they did not take us over that part of the reef. I have snorkeled over the statue in the past. We didn't get to see anything other than jelly fish and the shadow of a barracuda. They claimed that there was plenty of room for everyone to see through the glass at the same time - there is room, if you stack people two deep. That meant either sitting down with someone over the top of you, or peering over someone and seeing dangling feet. I was not overly impressed. The boat was clean and well maintained. There was a sales pitch at the end to make sure you tip your crew, that was a bit off putting. Check Groupon before you go, they have deals to make this tour more reasonable. The highlight was seeing dolphins jumping the boat's wake on the way out, that made the tour worth while.

Thank you for your review. We do not go over the Christ Statue as it is in too shallow of water. We do hope you enjoy the rest of your time in the Florida Keys.

There is no refund when you book your tickets unless the operator cancels. So we are on the 10 am tour. It started raining once we left the canal area and was choppy for the 45 min ride out. You cruise a portion of the reef for about 30 min with rain part of the time. It was dark & murky. We did not see much at all. On the ride back another 45 mins with the sun starting to come out toward the end.
We would have rather took a “rain check” for another time.

If you wanted to change the time of your cruise all you need to do was asked and we would have changed your party. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in the Florida Keys.
