This half-mile-long, crescent-shaped patch reef is an interesting dive site since it is highly developed and similar to those of most outer bank reefs in the Key Largo area.

If you are snorkeling, make sure to go to Grecian Rocks. This is a can't miss place to see a variety of both marine life and corals.

Some of the best diving on reefs I've had. Saw every kind of fish imaginable...definitely worth the time to get out there. Lots of local dive shops available. I went with Amoray Dives and found them to be great!

The extended snorkeling boat took us here along with two other places. The crew was great. The water was a bit rough but visibility was very good with lots of fish including barracuda.

The boat, captain and crew were all excellent. We were lucky at the end of the season after Hurricane Irma, so not too crowded. The snorkeling was excellent. A great intro to the reefs around Key Largo.

Went out snorkeling with Sail, Fish, Scuba... got very lucky and had a pod of dolphins join us for some water play while we were snorkeling. Saw couple of reef sharks too. Had a very lucky day at sea here.

Snorkeled here on Monday 3/26 - was pleased to see corals coming back after Irma. Perhaps not as many fish, but it was great viewing.

last minute trip w/2 teen boys.Which keys & hotels? (2 Replies)
Hello, We are planning a very last minute trip (this week) with our two boys ages 14 and 15. I would appreciate any suggestions for an itinerary and hotels. We can stay 4-6 nights total in the keys. After doing a lot of research I think there are great snorkeling spots in Key Largo, Key West and maybe Marathon as well as other areas. My boys are snorkeling fanatics and would like to go to where they can see the most colorful and plentiful marine life and reefs (If any still exist). I...More

Sombrero Reef & Coffins Patch off Marathon are beautiful for snorkeling. Aquarium Encounters is really cool - but it is fish in captivity so....... Its interactive and we go often. Turtle Hospital may be of big interest. They are rehabbed and released, if they can be.
