We dive the Christ statue every single time we dive in the Keys! It is just a must see dive destination when in Key Largo. But if you are looking for a beautiful diving location along with the statue you will be disappointed. The diving around the statue is really just ok not the best. There are plenty of other dive spots that are much prettier.

I saw the statue. Was hard to get down far enough to it. But did get some cool pictures with my go pro. Saw a reef shark, a large tarpon, lots of fish and lots of jellyfish. The captain and Ashlyn on our boat were awesome! Ashlyn was the coolest first mate. Would recommend the snorkel tour through the Silent World dive center

An iconic dive, a large part of the allure of this site is wrapped up in the spirituality of the diver. For many divers, this dive's truly a religious experience. Others will find the site crowded. and somewhat underwhelming. If you go, don't touch the statue - it's covered in fire coral. Backing away form the statue allows an explotration of fun terrain , some bits of lovely coral and some great fish sightings.

My husband recertified his PADI with Sail Fish Scuba.
And went with them to see Christ of the Deep. He was very happy to see the statue and all the marine life around it:))
Very exciting trip and a lot of species to see while diving.
Thank You, Tim and SailFish Scuba:)!

Great place to snorkel. Great going on the boat concession out of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. Several trips a day. Great ride out. Beautiful reef and area. Lots of sea life to see & marvel. Highly recommend. Schedule with concession- they’re awesome- Hannah & Lindsay do fabulous job!! Captain Dan & First Mate Gabe took great care of us on the boat.

But not anymore! (and if you get the Cake reference, congratulations, you get a point).

Dry Rocks is a great reef. Unfortunately, with climate change, ocean acidification, and thousands of tourists whom feel entitled to touch things they shouldn't be touching the reef is not-so-slowly dying off.

But Underwater Jesus remains available for your high-fives and selfies and it's what everyone wants to see. Personally, I say take the obligatory pic and then go look at (but don't touch) the reef, since the reef really is one of God's more impressive creations.

We went a snorkel trip to Christ of the Deep and Grecian Rocks. Christ of the Deep is in deeper water and Grecian Rocks is a shallow location. Both sites have plenty of fish and beautiful Coral Reefs.

Most of the snorkeling tours in the Key Largo area will go here. It takes a decent boat ride to reach the reef, but it was worth seeing and there were tons of beautiful tropical fish. Note that sometimes the water is too choppy for the tour boats, but if that's the case they'll take you to other reefs nearby.

We took the snorkel tour from John Pennekamp State Park. I recommend getting clear directions to where the statue is and go there first. On the day we visited, it was a relatively calm day but there were 1-2 foot swells and currents. There was a good distance to the statue from our boat mooring and we were quite tired simply going to the statue and back. So glad we got the chance to see it. Visibility on the day we went was 40 feet, but still a little hazy. We had to be pretty close to the statue to see it.

It was recommended to me to reserve the tour in advance. We did it a week out to get an early morning tour. There are coupons on the website that you can print and present when you arrive for $5 off each person.

The tour is really nice, crew is friendly, but keep in mind, this is a dive tour, boat is very "basic" and packed, so limited shade places to seat... not really the most conformable ride. But again, if you're going exclusively for the dive, which is the purpose of this activity, it's definitely worth it.
