If you want to be on the very “front” spot on the pier, get there about an hour early. We took a picnic and had dinner at one of the picnic tables. Parking was right next to park, but might get there early to ensure a spot. Many park benches to enjoy the view. This park is on the opposite end of the island but it still had a great view of the setting sun. You can’t imagine the number of people walking up to this small park right at sunset. There are some very wealthy homes and condos in this subdivision and these people seemed to enjoy this activity each night. Tiny beach area so not the best spot to hang out. But you could get wet at this park, just not any room for a couple of groups.Visited July 2021Traveled with familyWritten July 25, 2021

It was pretty cloudy both times we were there so we didn't really get to see much of the sunset but it was still worth going. 10/10 would recommend!Visited June 2021Written June 30, 2021

You can relax sitting on a bench in the sand facing the water. You can walk to the end of the small pier and breathe in a gorgeous view. You can squat on a rock and dangle your toes in the water. You can even come in your bathing suit and swim/sit in the water as you watch the sun setting. There was a couple there having their wedding ceremony and pictures. It was just the two of them and the officiant. I bet their wedding photos are beautiful! My fiance and I were in Marathon on our "Honeymoon before marriage" and we stayed in an Airbnb just down the street from Sombrero Beach (also a great spot to watch the sunset) but we ended up at Sunset Park and I'm glad we did.Visited October 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten November 21, 2021

We went there in the morning after breakfast. If you want to just sit, relax and have a quiet time, while enjoying the sea, then you can try this place. While the place seems small, it is equipped with bathroom, drinking water fountain and benches.
There were rocks along the coastline so it may not be a good option for swimming, but its a good option for picnic while enjoying sunset.

Gorgeous sunsets and a fun, daily ritual! get there early to grab a seat on one of the benches or on the pier. The park fills up quickly. It’s fun to watch throngs of people walk and bike their way to Sunset Park. We were fortunate to stay right next door and just walk over.

Nice small park area with beautiful views. It’s definitely more park than beach. So, we headed over to Sombrero beach to catch the sunset with the sand and water between our toes. But Sunset Park is a good spot for people with dogs too. We saw several people with dogs. The dogs could also more easily get over the rocks to enjoy a splash.

So this is Sept when apparently sea grass comes to vacation in the Keys. Our hotel beach was crap because management wouldn’t clean it of Dead Sea grass (altho the property right beside us was cleaned!) so we walked around the corner to Sunset Park and were delighted to find it was clean and beautiful.
The problem???
NO SWIMMING!!! Altho the beach is almost completely clean and there is easy entry for all ages into the water.
If you want to come eat a sandwich on the picnic tables in the sweltering sun, go to Sunset Park. Otherwise, get in the car and drive somewhere else to cool off.

We went to many different spots in the Keys but found this gem to have our wedding. There are many different backdrops that you could use depending on what you want your wedding to consist of. We could have been on the pier, we could have been on the beach but we chose a Sandy spot in the palm trees. Got our permit from Key Colony to have our small event in advance. Brought our own Arch and little ceremony table. Had our guys rearrange a few park benches so that our guests could sit. And the pictures are just gorgeous what can I say.

This is an excellent place in marathon to catch the sunset. I thought being on the east side of the road we wouldn’t get a sunset- but I was wrong. You get a great sunset here too. Parking is a little limited. Plan ahead.

Went to this park after having dinner at Key Colony Inn and the sunset views were amazing! Lots of benches to sit on to enjoy the view with public restrooms. small little beach was so clean and I even had a stingray swim right by me when I had my feet in the water. Gets crowded at Sunset but I know why it has itś name - definitely not to miss if in Marathon.

Beautiful little park to catch the sunset. We were staying 2 blocks away and rode our bikes to the park. It was super clean, had lots of benches to sit and enjoy the view, and there's a pier to go out over the water. There's not really much of a beach, but you can get on the rocks and get your feet wet. If you're looking for a chill spot to watch the sunset though, this is the place.

Hi,
Sunset beach park looks gorgeous for a wedding. I'm wondering how do you contact them to set up the wedding there? I'm getting married next summer and would love to contact this location but i'm having trouble.

Since Key Colony Beach is a municipality, I would start with Key Colony Beach city call. It is a very friendly place, and if it's something they can allow, I'm sure they will work with you for your beautiful wedding. Best of luck to you!
Hi, looking for ideas for reception location after a wedding ceremony on Sunset Park Beach.
Can anyone give me ideas?

Key Colony Inn has a perfect room for a reception. It is a very short walk from Sunset Park
