Challenging course with lots of water and wind
Apr 2021 • Friends
Very well-kept public golf course here in key Biscayne. The greens are extremely difficult but very subtle. We had a lot of wind and a number of holes and of course there are a great many water hazards you need to carry. Overall it’s an extremely challenging course that’s in good condition but also extremely expensive for what it is. The guest greens fee is 175 and the club rentals are 10-year-old Wilson’s which is kind of embarrassing at this price point. The restaurant serve some good sandwiches for your proverbial 19th hole. I’ll plan to go back next time I’m here.

Challenging Public course with great views and terrific layout
Jan 2021
This is a public course, but this is no “muni”.

When you drive into the parking lot the clubhouse sits beautifully parallel to the parking lot, with a peek a boo view of Biscayne bay.

Nice practice area with chipping and putting and some irons area. A net protects the hitting area and keeps balls from going into one of the front 9 fairways.

First, this sits in the prime real estate of Key Biscayne, with views of the bay and city of Miami. The slope, indicating the difficulty, is on par with very challenging public course.

Eight Lagoons with mangrove swamps, combined with some difficult to hold and protected greens make this a challenge even for the excellent golfer.

Expect to lose a few golf balls, and take some layups to save bogey. Choose your tee box carefully because you will need the lower irons into the green to hold the ball and have a chance for par/birdie.

We played after 2:00, for the discounted rate of $70, or $60, if you show a military ID.

In the AM, it’s $176 (Winter rates), and sometimes requires a caddie). That seems a little steep for this course to me. Carts were equipped with GPS which was very helpful.

I found this challenging and a GREAT value at the afternoon rate. There was little wind the day we played so that made it a bit easier for our game… combine this place with 20 MPH and you might want to go home after nine holes.

A word about the wildlife… Jurassic park size iguanas’ everywhere!!! And Raccoons that are well fed from raiding your cart while putting. DON'T leave snacks in your cart or you can say goodbye to them. Birds everywhere, but no Crocs spotted at least the day we were there.

Get out there, you will have a good time.... even if you do donate a few balls to the lagoons or mangroves.

Beautiful course and in great shape
Mar 2020
My husband and I played here on March 5 and got the twilight rate after 2:00 pm for $70 per person. This was a great course, very playable and fair. It was so beautiful in the late afternoon as we were finishing up. We really enjoyed the round. The women's tee boxes were placed nicely past a lot of the water carry overs, which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend this one. The round of 18 took about 4 hours so not too long really.

Past it's prime

Had played here years ago but they haven't kept up, probably why the Senior tour no longer plays it. An average public course at best but at $176 a round way too expensive for the quality of the course.

Extremely slow, and not well maintained
Dec 2019
It's quite clear that this course was once great. However, it is now in a pretty poor condition, with scruffy tee boxes, so-so fairways and poorly maintained greens.

A large part of the blame for this must be laid at the door of the players, because most divots go unrepaired, no-one would appear to bother raking the bunkers, and pitch marks are just simply left untended.

Pace of play is absolutely dire, and it would appear that there is no course marshal to keep things moving along. Given our experience, expect to spend 5 minutes waiting at each tee, and then five minutes waiting to play your shots to the green.

On the plus side, the fauna is magnificent, with abundant iguanas, crocodiles (or alligators, you decide) and bird varieties aplenty.

It's very expensive for non-residents, and not really good value for the money.

Given the number of players, there was insufficient practice area.

Overall, there are many far better places to enjoy a round of golf.

Crandon Golf Couse A+
Dec 2019
I played yesterday afternoon, What a course. For a public course it was A+. It's better than some private courses I played. Greens & fairways were in great shape. The views if Miami also was a plus. If you get a chance to play you won't be disappointed.

Where surf meets turf
Sep 2019
Beautiful golf course! Surrounded by the same polluted waters as the beaches on luxurious Key Biscayne. The sight of dead fish washing on the shores took part of the pleasure away though. This golf course is one favorite around Miami and is being ruined by the water treatment plant pumping fecal matters in the water around the Key. So sad.

Golf in Miami
May 2019 • Solo
This is a very good golf complex with more than adequate practice facilities, great layout, buggies included in the price and of course very service in the pro shop. Booking was though EZLinks app which was straightforward after a log in set up. The Marshall on the course is very accommodating and paired me up with a good fun group. The course is a $20 Uber fare from Downtown Miami which is really handy. The return Uber was quick and easy but the pick up time is a bit longer as the course is a little out of the way. Thoroughly recommend this course, much like a resort course on the Gold Coast AUSTRALIA (lots of water and swamp).

Heavily Played and Very Playable
Apr 2019 • Solo
When I learned I would be going to S. Florida for a trip, I quickly looked up great public golf in Miami and Crandon at Key Biscayne kept popping up every time.

So, I had to play it...

Very well designed and very forgiving off most tee boxes.

The first par three stood out as the tips and blues were through a shoot you noticed immediately...very cool and long!

Crandon has teeth as the wind is always in play along with well positioned sand bunkers and plenty of rough to grab club especially around the greens.

Most greens were elevated which was nice on a very flat course so short game is paramount and I let me down today.

There is history here as they use to play a Sr PGA event.

The bottom line is this is a fun golf course in Miami FL. And it is a local favorite as can be seen from all the play this course gets Day in and day out. And it was right at a four hour round. A great day!

Enjoy Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne!
