Nice walk. Informative and peaceful. The mangroves were beautiful. Boardwalk was well maintained.

Wonderful green space. It was by chance we found the board walk that led us through a maze. Lovely little find in the middle of a busy area.

Saw birds of variety and walking through Mangroves was peaceful. Dolphins passed by and sunrise is pretty from here.

As another review pointed out this is a small boardwalk, but I'm not sure what anyone would expect. Sand Key isn't even a mile wide, how much boardwalk could there be? Anyway, it's a nice boardwalk to a water view and a view of the drawbridge. The only downside is limited parking. If you don't find an open space in the parking lot, go out of the lot and make a right. Turn left on the one way street and there are a few more parking spaces there.

Wouldnt have known this existed if I hadnt seen it on Trip Advisor. Nice boardwalk about 5-10 mins walk but the beauty is the Yellow Crowned Night heron, who were in the trees relaxing. Nice to see them.

This is truly a fascinationing educational walk through a beautifully preserved estuary. There are signs along the boardwalk explaing what you're seeing and why it's so important to preserve mangroves and sea oats.
It's truly a beautiful walk.

We read about the Nature Park whilst staying at Indian shores so decided to visit.
As you walk out on a boardwalk the views are beautiful with the sun catching the lovely intercoastal water. The boardwalk goes out a long way. Along it are notices to show what kind of wildlife you should see. Whilst there we saw lots of herons - in fact one landed right near us on the boardwalk. We watched small boats go by.and just stood there taking in the local wildfife and views
We were told by local americans that apparently as soon as the water cools, the manatees can be seen and the odd dolphin.
It was truly a beautiful setting and if you enjoy wildlife you should visit this beautiful place.

There are certainly bigger parks with more amenities and things to do, but this small natural area tucked between Gulf Blvd and the Intracoastal Waterway is a gem. Facilities include a small parking area, a couple of covered picnic tables, a small grassy area, and a public restroom, but the real draw of this nature preserve is the boardwalk through a small section of dense mangrove forest which has survived development on this narrow island. At first glance, most people notice a variety of birds, but if you walk quietly and watch intently, you can spot movement on a branch. Is it a bug or spider? No! There are claws! Crabs in the trees! It's a little Mangrove crab well camouflaged in the greenery, and once you see one, you'll see dozens more! We also spotted a starfish, a marsh rabbit, and several lizards in addition to various birds. When we reached the Intracoastal section, we watched for dolphins and manatees but didn't see any on this visit. The boardwalk is just the right length for small children accompanied by grandma with a bad knee!
The parking lot is accessed just north of the intersection of Park Blvd N and Gulf Blvd. It was full when we arrived but no one was at the picnic tables or on the boardwalk. I wish they'd reserve a few spaces for visitors picnicking and walking the boardwalk rather than allowing beach parking throughout.
Allow 30 minutes or so for a quick visit, or longer if you wish.

You wouldn't expect mangroves and some wild jungle scenery right next to the Gulf Blvd. But you probably should - in this part of Florida, as well. It's a lovely park, a real nature preserve, a good spot for a short stop and a short walk... and some picture-talking! Cozy, covered picnic area, clean grounds, nice info boards. And wooden boardwalks lead you to the intracoastal waterways, with some picturesque scenic views. Didn't have much time to stay longer - next time, for sure!

Enjoyed a short walk with intracoastal views, mangroves, and several birds. Nice break from the ocean and the traffic.
