The home is very old 1920 unable to get up close and personal but you can tell it was a beautiful estate at some point.

The street view of the estate made you want to see more the interior. The outside shows that it was a grand place at one time and very special to the owners. Would love to see in the inside. It is currently for sale and hopefully the buyers will restore to its original grandeur.

We were told about the house and then Google searched for it. Amazing story behind it and the day we peeked over the Stone wall a Bank inspector was there taking pictures cause the building is in need of a new roof

Well, it's an intriguing story, and the old Howey estate looks like the one in the B&W film, SUNSET BOULEVARD, with its stone walls and iron gates surrounding a moldering, once grand mansion. But it's boarded up, with No Trespassing signs on the gates. Too bad, it's such a romantic tale from the story of a truly larger-than-life 1920's robber... More

Too bad you couldn't go up to see the mansion. The gates were locked so you couldn't get close. Very over grown with a lot of vines. You could tell it was once a beautiful place. Too bad it is in such disrepair . Hopefully someone could buy it and fix it up.

My lottery house still sits in disrepair. No action going on as far as I can tell. Such a shame because the mansion is spectacular. You can take a virtual tour on YouTube. There is also an organization called William J. Howey Mansion Community Restoration Project and they have a Facebook page. Looking for volunteers. Hopefully we will see some... More

I've been fascinated by the mansion since I moved to the area in 1990. There was a picture of it on the cover of the phone book. It's abandoned now. I ride by all the time just to see if there is any activity with the house. It is slowly being dismantled by nature and needs a lot of TLC.... More

A 20 room mansion built in 1925 - designed by a female architect, Katherine Cotheal Budd. The mansion sits in the middle of the acreage reminding one of a mysterious lady who you can tell is past her prime, but boy does she have stories to tell. It is fascinating to look at and imagine the lifestyle of the "rich... More

I live down the street from this estate. It is a mystery that I love to pass by. It is currently for sale and you can not enter the fence. You can only view it from the perimeter. I wish someone would buy it and turn it into a bed and breakfast.

Unfortunately, the Howey Estate has fallen into disrepair because the owner is no longer there and the estate is possibly in foreclosure. Too bad because it was a lovely place at one time. Maybe someone will purchase it and bring it back to its former beauty.
