There are several picnic pavilions on the river. We enjoyed our lunch there. We attempted to walk one of the trails, but a portion of it was completely underwater (the ranger did provide fair warning). I think one section of the trail might benefit from...More

Nice, clean, level sites (gravel), and surprisingly, very few mosquitoes. Especially considering the swampy terrain. We didn’t do much hiking, but the trails we went on were easy to follow. The only bit of useful information, we either missed or weren’t told about, was about the...More

Blessed to live close to this State Park. Very well maintained, with Forestry staff close by. The Blackwater River is stunningly beautiful... please if you visit, help us keep it that way. Keep our river clean, so it will remain beautiful. Thank you! 😎 PS:...More

This was our first time here. It was very clean and well kept. The staff is friendly and helpful. We rented tubes from the local outfitters and spent a leisurely two hours floating down the river. Totally recommend for short getaway. However, nearby helicopters can...More

All the reviews are accurate - it's a beautiful park, well maintained, great staff. Definitely paddle the Blackwater River. HOWEVER - There's a naval air station training field next door. We had loud, ow flying helicopters overhead from 7am to past midnight, constantly. We travel...More

Spent three days camping in the park. Camp sites along outer circle are spacious--sites on the interior of circle are smaller and some very close to one another. Each site is a fine, gravel pad---very clean. Driveways are all paved. Boat ramp available for boats...More

This Park actually sits in the Black water state forest and so there is an extensive trail system. There are also several rustic camping shelters for through hikers. Be sure to pick up a map at either the ranger station in... More

There is minimal hiking trails right at the campground. However, the Florida trail is close and you can go for as long as you'd like on that.

The sandy bottom is very nice. It is not "crystal" clear, it does have some tannin. No alligators, they have to put signs up just in case. I have been going to the park for over 25 years and have never seen a gator on... More

Things to see and do in Destin (5 Replies)
Besides beaching it in Destin, there are plenty of other things to see and do in the area: Fishing – head to the Destin Harbor to charter a fishing boat or if you are budget minded check out some of the party boats. There is a reason we are called the Luckiest Fishing Village. While at the harbor take a ride on the “Original” Seablaster – fun for the adults and the kids. Free beer and soda included in the price of a ticket. Try the Buccaneer Pirate Ship, the kids will love this. Take...More
