The beach was great with soft sand, don't get me wrong, but the parking enforcement policies of this township are completely crazy. I thought local townships should be happy about people coming to them during Covid-19 lockdowns everywhere, appreciate every traveler bringing money to their small business and not bother people with unreasonable regulations... well, not Holmes Beach, unfortunately. Parking in a perfectly legal spot, precisely between signs, in line with "Parallel parking only" regulation, with all wheels where they should have been... still cost me $50, because the DIRECTION of my car was apparently wrong. I understand this regulation being enforced on wide busy city streets, but writing tickets for a wrong direction parking on a narrow secluded street is outright insulting. I truly love Florida and very much enjoying coming there and spending more than $50 every evening in local restaurants, but I see it as a very clear "dude, you are NOT welcome here" message from the local authorities. Bottom line - there are so many nice beaches and state parks around. I don't see a point in going to a place that clearly doesn't want you there and communicates it in such a clear way.

Wonderful place to come for lunch, cold drinks, sun and sand! Despite a number of people being around, there’s everything you need here. The food is what you would expect at a Public Beach and the Bar serves up fantastic old drinks.

Visited Manatee beach with my daughter for a day and we really enjoyed ourselves. There was plentiful parking (probably due to Covid) and lots of space on the beach to spread out. The water was pretty calm, warm, and shallow. There is a bar and restaurant right on the beach as well as shops.
