One of the things I look for when I travel is local experience. It’s a unique blend of customer service and unique understanding of the immediate area. Let me tell you that Johnny with Anna Maria charters fulfilled that experience for me today. His lifelong knowledge of the Island and the waters around are unmeasurable. He immediately catered to my needs and got me situated and made the fishing trip all about me, which I can say is rare in the line of work. He took me to catch snapper for dinner and assured me that we had plenty of time to tighten the line on some Snook. He dropped me in the ultimate spot in the afternoon to toss my line around and hook some amazing snook on my 8wt rod that I had fished for the first time in saltwater being the inlander that’s I am.
Let me just tell you from being around this type of business and line of work on and off for the last 25 years of my life you couldn’t find a better outfitter on Anna Maria island to take care of your needs. Johnny and David with Anna Maria Charters are the premier experience here on the island of you are looking for a day of bent rods and tight lines. These guys know their stuff and they make sure that your experience is just that.

We booked two trips with Captian Johnny while we were vacationing in Anna Maria and had an amazing time on both charters. The first trip, Captian Johnny took out my whole family (5 people). We caught tons on Snook and two sharks! The second trip was for Tarpon. We jumped a big Tarpon and landed a 140-pound Tarpon, fought it for over an hour. I would highly recommend Captian Johnny and will use Anna Maria Charters next time we are visiting the island.

Capt Dave White is the true AnnaMaria Island salt water fly fishing expert! I was looking for an experienced pro who could help a beginner (me) with getting my basic fly fishing technique down. Capt Dave surpassed all expectations. Got me fly fishing with some decent technique in the first hour, with some humor and good natured ribbing blended in. And caught a great mix of fish off my fly rod. He definitely elevated my salt water fishing game. Looking forward to getting family and friends out with him so they can get hooked on salt water fly fishing off AMI as well. Up there with the best salt water fisherman I’ve been around. If you want to up your salt water fishing game captain Dave White is the way to go...

Just got back from a family vacation on Anna Maria Island for the first time and it won't be the last. I snuck away for a 4 hour trip one morning and was pleasantly surprised. David worked tirelessly and literally put me on fish from the first cast to the last cast. I've fished all over Florida inshore and offshore for the last decade and David is now at the top of my list. I look forward to chasing some fish with him again soon.

Fantastic day of fishing with someone who knows the area incredibly well. He is not afraid of hard work either. He spent an hour and a half netting bait to blackout the live well before picking me up and starting the day! Caught a Permit on the fly which if you know anything about fishing is incredibly hard to make happen.

Chartered a four hour salt water fly fishing trip with Captain Dave. It was by far the best charter fishing trip I’ve had and I have done a number. We started by looking for Permit and we found them the first place we looked. Between two of us we caught over 20 Permit in about two hours. We then looked for other fish and caught fish for grilling that same evening. This was my first “fly fishing” salt water trip and Dave gave me all the right pointers to be more effective in technique. The boat was fast and equipped perfectly for scouting and fishing. I’ll be back next year!

We wanted action and we got it! From the first line in the water we had fish on. Sometimes double hits. We moved to several spots and Captain Dave always had us on a school. We caught several varieties of fish and many huge ones. Lots of fun!!! Best yet, Captain Dave is hardworking yet laid back! Full of good instructions but not intimidating. And he’s very friendly and talkative eager to tell stories and island history and facts. We still don’t know who was more excited about our fish catches as Captain Dave is so full of enthusiasm and glee when a good fish is landed. You will have a day to remember and stories to tell after a day out with Captain Dave. His boat is clean and accessible and his equipment is top notch! Captain Dave runs his boat with skill and mastery and you will feel very safe. Loved our day of fishing and catching! Thanks Captain Dave for making great memories!!! When we come back. We’ll see you again. Till then, tight lines, my friend!

We had a great time, we caught at least 50 fish inside an hour at one spot. Our captains were good, funny, and knew where the good spots to fish were. Also we got to keep some of the fish so we could eat them. Completely recommend you go here, we had a great time.

Had the best time! Captain Johnny knew exactly where to take us so that we could lure in some Permits. He went beyond duty to help us (total novices) have a great time and be able to go home with some fish. Definitely one of the best charters out there.

My daughter, 2 grandchildren (11 & 13) and myself booked an inshore/offshore 4 hour fishing trip with Anna Maria charters. The day of our trip was extremely windy with rough water. Captain Johnny contacted me the night prior to our scheduled excursion to let us know about the less than ideal weather conditions that were forecast and he gave us the option to reschedule or cancel our trip. Because this was the only day that we were able to go, we decided to take our trip. We had a terrific time! Due to the rough seas Johnny took us to areas in the bay that he knew were sheltered from the high winds yet still provided great fishing. We all caught multiple fish and took home enough great fish for 3 meals.
Johnny was quite knowledgeable and extremely helpful to all of us. You don’t have to be experienced to have a great time with Captain Johnny. He will make you feel like a great fisherman even if it’s your first time! We had a fantastic day with captain Johnny and left with lasting memories of a great day!
