Spent part of a rainy day here. Interesting small free museum about the eco system of mangroves & tidal marshes etc. Have raised walkways through the mangroves to lookout towers & lake. We did not rent any kayaks or other options due to the rain but would certainly be an enjoyable time.

We rented single kayaks and enjoyed 2 hours following the well-marked trails through mangroves and across West Lake. Saw iguanas swimming and sunning in trees and Herons and Ibises along the shore. A very peaceful interlude to our week in Hollywood beach, and a great family outing.

This nature center offered many trails, many scenic views, many places to come with your lunch and have a private picnic, etc.I enjoyed the observation tower, clean bathrooms, and great scenery. It did start pouring rain when I was there but I would definitely recommend visiting to see everything there is to offer.

We visited this preserve because it was right next to where we were staying and we are big nature lovers. When we parked in their lot we saw a white ibis picking at the ground. We also saw so many large iguanas running around the parking lot and grounds and also little lizards. We took the elevator up to the observation deck for a panoramic view of the preserve. It is located right by the visitor's center. We also hiked the trail to the mudflat thinking we would see interesting wading birds. However, when we got to the end of the trail, the tide was in, so we had a view of a lake instead. There may be parrots in this preserve as well because we saw and heard them from our hotel which was very near the preserve. It is worth checking out if you are in the area. I did see more birdlife, though, while driving through the Everglades.

We had a very short window of opportunity to visit this center - unfortunately it was at dusk and we didn't have any bug spray - do not make this mistake if you go to visit. I could have spent hours there as it is truly a natural treasure, but I was tired of fighting off the tiny, flying, biting insects. It is definitely worth your time if you've any interest in the natural habitat of Florida.

My husband and I visited this Nature Center the last week of February. It has multiple wooden walk ways that take you around the grounds and these are very nice. However, the boat trip was not available because the boat had mechanical issues. You couldn't go up in the Tower because the local authorities hadn't certified it for occupancy yet, and the "aquarium" is really nothing but a few tanks with hard to see small fish and/or sea life.

The onsite guide was especially helpful in warning us to go through the exhibits quickly because several school trips were about to arrive, so we did that. I think the grounds must be lovely when the weather is warmer. It is amazing how quiet the area is given it's close proximity to Ft. Lauderdale airport. We couldn't locate any sealife or birds on our walks - maybe they weren't ready to show themselves. All in all, a nice place for a nature walk but not much else.

My daughter (12) had to do a beach clean-up for Community Service hours in her 7th-grade homeschool class. The center isn't very big but the employees and volunteers were extremely nice and helpful. The center is clean and so are the inside restrooms. Me and my daughter combined gathered about 25lbs of trash. So, in some areas especially the picnic tables and benches, it is a little trashy but overall it is a beautiful park with lots of scenery. The trails were very nice and mostly shaded with the occasional park bench to relax and watch the waves.

On vacation we enjoy walking every morning, and wanted something different than walking the beach or the boardwalk, so we came here. Very happy to see Florida residents felt it was important in the 1970’s to preserve a little nature so close to its popular beaches. It has a very nice small education center, with a couple of walkouts to the water and a tower you can walk up or take an elevator up to the top. We also took the the 2 mile trail under the highway near the drawbridge, very poorly marked as far to which trail to take to stay on the looped trail. The trail is very rocky and paved partially with cement, most likely to prevent erosion as the mangroves and water come right up to the trail during high tide. It was a nice January nature walk, not too much to see. We did however see a Yellow Crested Heron perched in the mangroves. I guess most locals know where to go, but if you are a visitor, you will be guessing as to where to turn on the 2 mile trail. This didn’t knock our socks off, bus was free, educational and good exercise.

We visited the nature center for the first time this year and we are glad we did. We biked and walked through this very peaceful park with great views a quiet trails. If you are looking for something to do other than sitting on the beach take time to check it out.

Horrible. We came looking to rental a kayak.. then we’re told there were no more life vest.. which makes no sense. They don’t throw there life vest away.. why couldn’t they just wipe it down and give it us to use I have no clue. Which they would have done at the end of the day.. We went to 7 different stores looking for one and they were all sold out.
