You are in a busy city, cars all around, people all over and then you step into this park and it all disappears. A lush garden of beautiful woods, a winding lovely river and tons of birds. We absolutely loved walking the trail.

This lovely little park is located near where a spring flows into a major Gainesville creek. It offers trails and a lovely tree canopy. Wonderful for a cool break under the trees, this park is accessible year round. Dogs can be taken on a leash. Do not recommend trails when it is raining; the leaves are too slippery.

There is a nice pavilion with picnic tables next to the bathrooms and playground equipment for children. One should not water their dogs from the creek or wade in the water etc.. Wild animals drink from the creek, but they don't frequent the veterinarian. I have found this place to be very peaceful and most patrons respect the rules, i.e. pick up after your dogs and dispose in the appropriate receptacles.

There are a lot of different trails to take. There is a pavilion so you can have lunch. Restrooms also. If you are athletic enough to jump (which I am not) you can go other places as well. There is a small creek... And in that creek you can find sharks teeth. Pretty cool huh?. Just takes a little work. At the moment you are not supposed to get in the water.
You will also see lots of wild HUGE magnolia trees. In the summer it is pretty steamy but that day there was a breeze, so not bad.
People were biking on the trails as well as jogging. Dogs are allowed as long as they are leashed. There are at least two doggie poo bag stations that you can use.
WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK TO EXPLORE FURTHER.
I AM PROUD TO HAVE GOTTEN THIS PARK ON TRIPADVISOR AND PROUD ALSO TO BE THE FIRST ONE TO REVIEW IT.

My fiance and I used to live nearby, and we could walk around these trails often. The dense greenery makes you feel like you're in a jungle. Definitely do not allow your pets or kids to play in the water, though, as it has high concentrations of fecal matter.

You need to know where this is, but it is a nice walk close to the town. I am glad that Mr. Ring gave the money to preserve this green space. I particularly like the bridge from the parking lot at the top - it reminded me of Costa Rica (OK, a very small version of the views possible there).
