Our family is new to the Gainesville area, and while my Wife was handling the paper work for our new home me and my little one decided to visit one of GNV's treasures, the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. We had a great time exploring and seeing all the sights, our favorites were the childrens garden, and the Bamboo garden. ♡ FYI,... More

This is not the biggest "tourism garden," but it was a nice representation of what we grow in Florida. Easy pathways and a detailed map make finding each section a breeze. I don't know if I'd make this a full-fledged destination, but next time we're driving by we'll probably take an hour or two to walk through.

Arriving at this botanical garden, they give you a map to show the sections of the park. I knew that I wanted to see everything. There was something special about each nook, and many chances to take photos. The air smelled great since it was just after a light rain. This is such a peaceful place for anyone of any... More

A great way to spend a few hours. We strolled the gardens. Easy to follow paths, so if you forget to pick up the map at the ticket counter, no worries. The Children's garden is especially funny. There are signs to BEWARE of snakes, and another couple there said in fact they did see (venomous) 2 snakes.

We were told about the Bontical Gardens by the staff at our hotel. We were looking for something to do to pass time in between Dr's appt for our son who goes to Shands. We all loved it we were in disbelief at all the beauty. There were so many new plants we had never seen that we got to... More

Serenity. Nature. Wonderful employees. The banquet and meeting room was wonderful! I highly recommend this for groups of 20-100.

This garden has a 1.5 mile paved path on one side and a .5 mile path one the other. We really enjoyed wandering throughout and seeing all of the different plants and trees. It's a beautiful place and when we were there they were actually setting up for a wedding. It's a great place to spend a couple of hours.

The gardens are beautiful. I went in summer time so it was quite hot, but not as buggy as I expected, which was nice. Great place for photos.

When I went, there was nothing in bloom but the bugs and especially the mosquitoes. I really wish there had been someone there that advised us on that before we paid to go. My sister was in a wheelchair so none of the trails were handicap friendly. Very disappointing.

Nice walking trail through garden of tropical plants. Appreciated the labels and occasional sitting areas. Couple tips: go early as it gets hot and muggy; apply bug spray before your walk.
