The Kanapaha Botanical Gardens were 62 acres of delightful garden zones and themes that really deserve more than one visit. There are cunning pieces of statuary from the giant grasshopper to Asian figures tucked among such places as the Hummingbird Garden, the Bamboo Forests, the Herb and Medicinal Gardens and many more. Educational markers were very helpful and taught you... More

Went here on a recent trip to Gainesville. Pleasant garden with a very wide variety of bamboo plants, but in need of more funds to maintain it in the ideal state. A reasonable diversion in quiet Gainesville. Very hot and humid in June though!

Nestled in the Hale Plantation area of Gainesville is a real jewel. The Kanapaha Botanical Gardens combine the best of native and transplanted tropical splendor. The whole set up of the grounds combine lakes, trickling streams, and fountains to provide a stunning backdrop for the different themed gardens. The visitor center is very spacious and functions not only as a... More

Beautiful gardens that are very peaceful if you are there alone. I wouldn't recommend going during busy times (weekend) however, because then it just becomes to loud of people talking and not respecting the nature in silence.

For an $8 admission, I wish that I had had more time to spend meandering through the various gardens available at this location. A unique collection of vegetation are available for your study.

We have the annual membership (which is a great value if bought on Groupon). The botanical gardens are beautiful and serene and a great place for picnicing! It never seems to be too busy and has lots of cool stuff for kids. My daughter loves the shy briar patch next to the kids garden. The plants close up upon touching,... More

We are locals and have been many times and seen it evolve. There is now a substantial gift store, and then a nice walk with different flora to be seen. Every season brings something new. Much of it is semi-natural looking - not overly tended. There is always the hope of an alligator or two as well.

This is my favorite spot in all of north central Florida for spending time outdoors painting, taking photos, and enjoying the great variety of plants, landscapes, birds, animals, and water features. There are hidden treasures at every turn of the many pathways. The cultivated gardens continue to amaze me in their variety and maintenance. One of my favorite spots is... More

Took our Photo Club there today to photograph the flowers, birds, and bushes. Spent the morning wandering around the immaculate grounds, viewing the ponds, and flowers. Could not have been more enjoyable. A delightful place.

Kanapaha Botanical Gardens are a true jewel in Gainesville: fantastic landscape, an impressive range of plants, pathways, a charming bamboo garden, ponds with monumental water lilies and a well-maintained guest house. It is highly recommended for nature exploration with children.
