The beaches are clean, and the water is great. Like the fact that they have life guards on the beaches and here is plenty of private and public beaches. The one issue is the traffic. There is no easy way to get around. It's bumper to bumper all summer. We were prepared for it, but there are other areas I... More

First visit to this beach and it didn't disappoint. We had a condo at El Matador, ocean view was Awesome. I loved we were on the end of the beach, nice & quite. Sand was like sugar. Some seaweed, nothing to get too excited about. No issues w sea lice and my kids were in the water everyday for hours.... More

We are visiting now and we love it! We are staying at Four Points Sheraton with a corner balcony. Excellent views, relaxing beach! There is plenty to do. We especially enjoyed a dolphin tour by AJ's! The Gulfarium is next door and we can hear the sea lions at night. It is a fun aquarium to visit. There are fireworks... More

Okaloosa has decent beached, but the surrounding neighborhoods are VERY run down and some area seem unsafe. I would recommend staying in Destin for a family vacations!

I have been to over 100 countries around the world, and this remains one of my favorite beaches anywhere. Like all great beaches it is eye popping beautiful, with fantastic clean, clear water. The dolphins must enjoy it, because you see them almost every day. But Okaloosa Island has a couple distinct advantages over most, the sand, and the building... More

Love that condos are only 7 stories. Don't love the gentlemen's clubs on the island. The Boardwalk, Pier, and Gulf Aquarium offer interesting distractions from the beautiful ocean. Traffic isn't too bad to navigate. Lots of different condo choices!

Beautiful beach and relatively quiet. Sand is powdery soft and white. Water is great. Being here during a full moon is especially cool. Beautiful at night too.

Okaloosa Island is self contained. If you want to visit this area you can dine out and enjoy the beach. Enough to do for a short stay. National seashore is there on the bay side, and beautiful beaches of the Gulf on the Gulf side. Can also enjoy some shallow waters near the Destin Bridge, close to Crab Island.

So this was the first time we visited this area...we typically do Panama City but decided we wanted a bit slower pace this time around but not to slow. This was actually the perfect balance considering how quickly we could get to Fort Walton and Destin ( although we spent more time in traffic in Destin). The emerald coast views... More

Okaloosa is low-key, yet close to all of the restaurants and shopping! We love coming here and driving where we need to go. The beaches and hotels are nice and there are plenty restaurants!
