Great Nature at the Savannas

The Savannas is near my home, great recreational area for Nature lovers, I've seen huge turtles in there, and lots of birds, nice quiet area.

My wife and I stayed at Savannas one week in 2015, and then, for two weeks in 2016. Both stays were very nice. The campground is clean and well groomed. We enjoy the wildlife, alligators, sandhill cranes and turtles, etc. We saw two alligators, one was approximately four feet in length, the other was approximately six feet in length. The... More

I recently learned there is a mile and a half paved trail at the end of this park and have been using it for a morning run. It is so pretty in there and a great change of pace from my neighborhood. The trail leaves from the dog park area. If you want a couple more miles, park at the... More

A couple friends and I stayed for two nights. Pretty nice place with lots of wild life. We saw baby alligators. Spot 10 was pretty nice because it has some trees for shade. The spots are kind of close together so there's not a whole lot of privacy. I wouldn't recommend going during the summer months. There's no place to... More

We camped here for 4 days. Had a fantastic site right on the river. The back window in the RV looked out into the marsh. Birds are everywhere and some medium size gators were visible. We fished, caught a few nice looking catfish, but released them back into the water. Every evening at 6ish the Ibis would fly over to... More

Here is a place that puts one back with nature. You can see native birds and animals in their natural environment and in a peaceful spot that people can relax in. The native birds both small and large come here to nest and live in peace without the encroachment of humans and you can imagine what it was like many... More

All things considered this place is a jewel for RV'ers. The roads are packed sand/gravel with no low hangers to avoid. The sites are sand and several sites have unusual placement of utilities, so ask when you call. Birds galore. Close to U.S. 1 and maybe 15 minutes to the beach. Nice location to use as a home base for... More

They have several camp sites and grills for RV's and tents for over night or longer stays. You can also take nice walks and see alligators, turtles and birds. Also can go canoeing and other small boats but no motors allowed. You can also go fishing in there.

This is the county run park - easily confused with the State Park by the same name. This park is free admission and $5 an hour for kayak rentals. Just tandem kayaks available when I visited and they aren't in great condition, but its a cheap way to enjoy the outdoors and see nature up close. There is both a... More
