About
As one of the most affordable private charters in Southwest Florida, Luck o' The Irish is one of the most exciting back-bay fishing and sight-seeing boat guides you will find. With experienced captains, we work all year round, running 2 boats (a 27' Carolina Skiff and 20' Mako). Depending on season and tides, our fishing charters target anything from Sheepshead to Snapper, Red Fish, Trout, Snook, and the occasional shark on our back bay adventures. If you prefer to fish near shore, we will have you fishing for Snapper, King Fish, Grouper, Permit, sharks and more! During the summer, we offer specialized Shark fishing trips. If you prefer to put the poles down and enjoy scenery, book one of our Sunset cruises or Dolphin tours. We offer serviceman discounts! We'll provide the bait, poles, ice and fun! Passengers 21 and older are permitted to bring their own alcoholic beverages. Call today! Relax, catch some dinner, and enjoy the scenic tour of Fort Myers Beach in Sunny Southwest Florida!

My boyfriend and I went back bay fishing and had an amazing time! $300 for 4 hours of fishing; you bring the beverages and cooler and they provide the ice; willing to stop at marinas for potty breaks (very important); and we caught SO MANY FISH! We ended with at least 12 sheepshead and snapper keepers, but also caught a grouper that we unfortunately couldn’t keep because it wasn’t in season! We took the fish to a local restaurant and they cooked it for us for dinner.
Rich was a pleasure to work with to set up the day, and one of his new captains, Frankie, was a blast to hangout with all afternoon. He brought us to the right spots and was on top of baiting and casting where we wanted or needed the help. Definitely worth every penny and we would do it again if we return to Fort Myers. Thank you!!!!

There a so many things that I loved about this trip but I will give you the top 5.
1. Capt Rich and Capt Scorpion understand what the client wants. They knew we had a 9yo boy on our trip and they knew he just wanted to be put on some fish...not necessarily hunt Moby Dick but be put where there is constant action. Well done.
2. They were unbelievably patient and understanding of dealing with a 9yo boy and two novice parents. Every time we needed new bait they were there to put on a live bait with a smile and every time we snapped a line because we tossed it in a tree or onto a dock, they were there with a smile and another rod.
3. Communication was impeccable. Expectations were clearly stated at the beginning and we wasted no time somewhere that wasn't hot and they always let us know how much time we had to fish an area before we were going to take off for another destination.
4. They are unbelievably well versed in where to go and where to find the fish. Never once did I have a sense they were guessing on where the fish would be.
5. They always made us feel like we were the most important customers they have ever had and that their livelyhood rested upon us having a good time. It's nice to be appreciated as a customer and to know the people who are providing you a service are genuinely happy to be with you.
This was my second booking with Capt. Rich and it WILL NOT be my last. 11/10 rating!

After calling multiple charter companies I reached Captain Rich and I knew instantly this was the guy that I wanted to go with. He was upbeat and very personable on the phone while booking our charter. We booked a 4 hour back bay trip and all I can say is Captain Frankie didn’t disappoint. He had us on fish right away catching sheepshead, snapper, jack, and snook. My 10 year old son loves to fish and I wanted him to have an awesome experience while in Florida and Captain Frankie went above and beyond to make that happen. Frankie was very friendly and easy to converse with as well as being very knowledgeable about what we were fishing for. The price of the charter was spot on. I have been on multiple charters weather it be for salmon up north or on the ocean and I will say this was the best 4 hour trip I have ever been on. If your looking for a great experience that is very family friendly look no further than Luck O The Irish they will not disappoint.

Booked this trip for a birthday present. When we went to the dock to start trip it was ok boat had no seating so we had to use a beach chair . Than we went from the dock to literally across the bay to Snug Harbor and tied up to a boat slip and was told this is I was urban fishing stood in boat and cast along pylons to catch sheep head .so we said we wanted to try someone else and was told hey ur catching dis we stay
So then we finally moved not far from where we were and no fish there .. the boat didn’t even have a FISH FINDER on it ...
So if u wanna waste $300.00 dollars plus tip
to fish under a boat slip this be for u.
I could have went to Walmart bought 2 poles and bait & fishing license for less than what we paid to go on this boat knowing now that we were just going to fish underneath the pier makes no sense .
I would be giving you no stars but have to do one to have this published so all can see

Hi Michael, I apologize for the delay in responding. I'm going to take a different approach to your review than I usually would. You see, readers aren't aware that after you left this review you proceeded to bombard us with emails, including the following two which we received 8 days after you left these reviews, and 12 days after you fished with us:
"I wish you would have told us that we were going to go Urban fishing and that we would be tied up to a boat slip in front of Sung Harbor for 2 hours for the $300.00 we paid . I could have went to Walmart and got new fishing poles and license for under $100.00 dollars This was one of the worst birthday present ever. Back bay fishing and finding even go 2 Mike’s form were we boarded your boat. I will make sure to tell everyone about the rip off your excursion is. Michael Hilsee. The trip was on March 6 2021"
"OK so you miss read I know you’re not located in snug Harbor we’re the under the assumption that captain you were taking us out not another person number one number two he took us to snug harbor and tied up in a boat slip and said this is urban fishing for us I’m gonna post your reply on yelp no we’re not looking for our money back it just would have been nice to let us know upfront that we were going to be jerk off and not taking fishing"
Michael, here are some things I'd like to note:
*We've actually never heard of the term "urban fishing" until you used it. I had to google it because this was honestly new for us. I can assure you, nobody used that term and absolutely no one told you "hey ur catching dis we stay." I am 100% positive that nobody in our business speaks to our customers that way. This is the first time I've ever heard of such a harsh accusation.
*Snug Harbor is one of the places you fished in front of, yes. But you weren't tied up to their dock for 2 hours. That is one of many stops for our captains, depending on tide. In your case, the fish were on fire in that location that day. However, we are not located directly across the bay from Snug Harbor so I struggle to understand where you got that from.
*Fish Finders aren't necessary when fishing back bay. Our captains know where to find fish, such as underneath private docks where a Fish Finder couldn't reach and you couldn't get to by land. Our near shore boat, the Mako comes equipped with a Fish Finder and also plenty of seating.
*Nobody boards our boat at "Mike's form." We don't have a Mike who works with us. People board our boat at our slip called, "Luck o' The Irish Fishing Charters." It's located at Getaway Marina, which is run by Bob.
*You made very blunt accusations in your emails and on Yelp that the owner "substituted himself for another person to take you out." The owner (Capt Rich) never told you he was taking you out, he simply made the reservation over the phone with you. The owner very rarely runs charters on weekends. You were always scheduled to go fishing with another captain. These are the type of allegations that I referred to in my email as "false claims."
Capt Rich responded to your emails, attempting to find your booking because your review and messages were honestly confusing and we could not find Michael Hilsee in our bookings. Between that and the fact that you supposedly rode on a boat with no seating except beach chairs, we began to wonder if you had us confused with some other charter company.
You continued to get more aggressive with your responses to Rich when he was simply asking for information. You threatened to leave more reviews and you said you would share my response to your emails, which you did on Yelp and I still stand behind what I said.
UPDATE: I understand that I am behind in responding to reviews (not only yours, I promise) but your response to my comment on Yelp today was quite aggressive. You threatened to show up at our dock to further discuss matters. You also made a brand new accusation today, that our captain was "smoking something that he shouldn't have" while he had you on our "seatless boat." You proceeded to threaten that you'll show up at our dock and then go to USCG to report us. As I previously mentioned to you, we belong to a drug consortium program through the CG. All captains are drug tested at any given point. We joined this program voluntarily a few years back, but our marina also requires all captains to be a part of it. Therefore, we have absolutely no problem with you calling the Coast Guard, but we kindly ask that you refrain from coming near our place of business.
I am still very curious why you knew that our captain was supposedly smoking something he shouldn't have been ever since March, but you waited until today to bring it to our attention. Why didn't you call the CG then? I would've.
I do want to thank you for the opportunities you've given me to clear up some real sketchy allegations that were made. To summarize for everyone else reading this: Yes, our boats have PLENTY of seating. We don't even carry beach chairs on our boats (so if you want some, you'll need to bring them). As clearly stated under our charter descriptions, yes we sometimes fish near docks on our back bay charters. No, we will not force you to fish there against your will for hours at a time. No, our back bay boat doesn't have a Fish Finder nor does it need one. No, our captains don't smoke weed or crack, or whatever this man is implying. ESPECIALLY while running a charter! If anyone has any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me or Capt Rich directly, just as we wish Michael would have done in the beginning. We would've loved the opportunity to try and resolve this issue amicably and professionally, but we understand it's not always possible. Thank you again, Michael, and have a great day.
Best,
April T

Our original charter was canceled but it ended up being a blessing in disguise. Captain Rich asked if we wanted to go out for sunset and it was amazing. He was incredibly nice, fun, and we were able to enjoy the most beautiful sunset. Our 2 year old had the best time as well and he was so sweet to her! We would recommend Capt Rich & Lock o' the Irish Charters hands down!

Had an excellent time fishing with Captain Dalton. She knows where the spots are and did a great job setting us up to catch a variety of fish. Lots of them too. Will definitely be back next time we are in Florida ☀️👌🎣

We had an amazing time going fishing for shark with Captain Rich! He makes the trip very special for us and guides us with what we need to do to catch fish and be safe. We have fished with Captain Rich before and we will be back for sure! I highly recommend Rich as he is one of the best there is.

Great day fishing in the Bay. My wife and college-aged son spent the day with Captain Rich. He got us on the fish and was very patient with our novice fishing skills. Spoiled us by baiting all the hooks, handling everything we caught, even cleaning all the fish once back at the dock, all the while giving us pointers to improve our technique. We couldn’t have had a better day. Excellent family experience; we plan to become regular customers.

Great adventure for two teenage boys on St. Patrick’s day. They really enjoyed captain Rich and his fishing “secrets”.
Both 16year olds rated the tour a “10” and the fish were fantastic for dinner. Thanks for the great day! 🍀

Went out for a 4 hour trip with Captain Kenny and had so much fun that we decided to stay another 4 hours. We caught mostly snapper and sheepshead but we also landed on a nice redfish! my kids loved seeing the dolphin playing nearby the boat and when we took off to move to our next spot they swam behind the boat and jumped in the wakes. it was truly a great day and we'll be back for sure! Thanks Cap'n Rich and Cap'n Kenny!

Luck of the Irish is a small fishing boat with no bathroom. They fish near homes/piers, i.e., they do not take you miles out to sea. Hope this helps.
