After reading other reviews of Bowditch Point Park, we decided to take a visit and were not disappointed. The area was very quiet when we visited, and although parking is limited we managed to find a space, however when we left the car park was...More

Our family visited here hoping to see the turtles but we were unlucky at the time. Will try again another day. There were some other pretty cool sightings though. As always the lizards were everywhere. We also saw quite a few pelicans and a huge...More

As mentioned, just for parking. however the lot is very small. You might be better catching the trolley that comes in from several points in Fort Myers Beach. It seems to be roomy enough to carry all your great beach... More

Bowditch Point Park (7 Replies)
Hi everyone, We are staying at Kona Beach Club for 2 weeks over Xmas. Can we walk the beach from there to Bowditch Point Park? (We are just a few minutes from Times Square) I know there is some good shelling to be had at Lover's Key...but it looks like it's all the way down the other end from where we are. Does anybody do any shelling at Bowditch? Or on the walk to it? Thank you, -Surf:)

It would be a long walk for me but if your a walker I am sure you can do it. Remember you have to walk to and back which doubles the walk. If you know how to use google earth, you can get the exact milage. Mapquest can also help.

Parking along Estero Boulevard and Bowditch Point Park (6 Replies)
Can anybody give me some details about parking along or just off Estero Boulevard? I plan to fish a lot at night and I can see a series of car parks off Estero Blvd particularly down towards Bowditch Point Park. Are these car parks accessible 24 hrs per day? Is there a fee to park in them (roughly how much)? Is there a parking app that I can download to make it easier then carrying cash around? A related question also: Is it safe to walk through Bowditch Point Park at night to go...More

Thanks for the feedback and links, very useful. Just in terms of Bowditch (and I suppose any other coastal areas on the island, would there be any no go areas for a guy fishing on his own during the night?

We are staying at the Pink Shell and wondered if we should drive to this park or is it possible to walk? Also how big is the park once we get there? Can we wander all around it in a couple of hours? Are there beach chairs available to rent? Many thanks.

Definitely walk. The park is basically next door to the Pink Shell. It's a small quiet public park with bathroom facilities and not much else. Well, other than the view, gorgeous beach, etc. I think 2 hours would be plenty. We spotted some interesting shells, crabs, and birds on our visit to the park in May. You might even see dolphins and turtles. It was not staffed in any way while we were there, so no rentals. Mr. Kooz
