Just returned from a cruise with pirates!!!! This was a family Christmas gift to our daughter and her husband and 5 year old. We had the most awesome time, Pick Pocket Pete was so entertaining for both the adults and children and he drew the kids in, even those who were a little shy at first. The other pirates, Kincaid and the female (don't remember her name ), were also engaging and entertained the kids and adults as well. This was money well spent, and we recommend it to any family looking for a great adventure. The kids also received a treasure map and gems from the pirate's chest....they engaged all the children, and by the end the kids were going under the limbo pole, sword fighting , and having a great time.
Lunch after at Parrot Key was delightful....a great day and time was had by all.

Us 4 adults and 4 kids (ranging in ages 3-12) had so much fun. We took the evening ship ride at 7:30, towards the end of our trip the boat was lit up with lights. The pirates were so interactive, and creative, and made sure every kid was involved. The kids all got plenty of pirate coins and treasures, we danced like crazy, fun music and we laughed a lot. They send out confirmation emails and texts and all of their policy’s are clearing stated on there site, or purchasing page. (Including cancelation policy). Honestly, there is nothing to complain about, just be laid back, be silly, dance, be loud for your kids, and let your kids have some fun!

Excellent saw lots of Dolphins Captain Teddy and his mate Justin (?) Were very informative and fun. The kids had a great time, and the adult bar was very reasonable. Let you bring snacks and water on board. They had a sun deck and a shade area. The captain knew how to get the dolphins to play in the wake of the boat, jumping back and forth. If you are ever in Fort Myers Beach Florida I highly recommend Salty Sam's Cruises. They have a kids time on the Pirate Cruise, my friends said they really enjoyed that. Have Fun!

Unfortunately the weather wasn't so good, as it was cool and windy which definitely didn't make make for a fantastic time. Try and keep that in mind when you book.
The boat is comfortable and roomy and you are allowed to move around freely which was good for picture taking, etc. The first part of the trip we travelled a short distance from the dock into the bay looking for dolphins. Although we did see a couple of dolphins, you mostly just see their fins; it's not like they are jumping out of the water and putting on a great show. They do come up beside the boat which was the best part, but we never good great views as hoped. You basically are just trolling around the outer marina, as there are boats anchored all around, not the most scenic surroundings. We then headed back close to the dock and around the marina areas which was the worst part of the voyage. You see a couple of nice yachts and homes, but nothing fantastic. Captain Teddy is a skilled driver, but not the best in talking over the mic. He's very brief and not very interesting to be honest. His mate Jeremy was much more of a personality and had some interesting stories about shrimp boats and what we were seeing. He mingled with the group and was very good with the small kids on the boat which was surely appreciated by their parents. We did some half a dozen or so pretty birds, which unfortunately was one of the highlights of the tour.
Perhaps if the wind was less, we would have travelled further, hopefully into the gulf where we may have seen more dolphins as hoped. The vast majority of the trip was within a mile of two of the dock, hardly a nature tour or similar.
If you really want to see dolphins at there best, I would suggest a cruise where the boat gets up to some speed and the dolphins follow alongside or in the boats wake which provides for a much better show of their speed and agility. I have seen this several times before elsewhere in Florida. In conclusion, to be perfectly honest, I was disappointed with the excursion but in their defence, the weather wasn't conducive for a memorable time.

We went on the Sunset Cruise on March 3rd, with Captain Al and his 'most able assistant' Steve. Captain Al has an eagle eye for dolphins, and we saw quite a few. He took us around the tip of Estero Island so everyone on the boat had a great view of the sunset, and even did a 180 so both sides could enjoy the view. This is the second time that we have taken our visitiors on that cruise, and we look forward to many more. Half price Appetizers and drinks at The Parrot Key before, and dinner and great music afterward was a great way to round out the experience.

We were in fort Meyers for 6 days. My kids aged 13,10,5 weren’t very amused with much in the area besides the hotel pool 🙄 until we did the pirate cruise. They said it was so much fun and actually thanked me for taking them! That’s rare lol. Pick pocket Pete was hilarious and engaged the kids that were “scared/shy” my 5 yr old eventually got up and danced and had a blast. I’m not sure who had more fun, the kids or the adults. If I’m ever back in fort Meyers I’m definitely doing this cruise again. The whole crew was excellent, including lady Tesla, the captain, the bartender. The jokes were fun and modern mixed w old school. Prices were very reasonable and we even got 1/2 off tickets for the kids entrees at the parrot restaurant at the dock.

Based on seeing the boat while at the beach and reading one review I took the chance and booked with the pirate cruise. There was continuous activity for the kids including tattoos, treasure take aways, limbo and a dance party. There is a bar for adults and while kids are entertained, grandparents could sit up above and enjoy the boat ride. I highly recommend and will go again. Perfect for kids of all ages. Mine is 5 YO.

Great experience for our entire family. The kids loved dancing, participating in opening treasure chests, tattoos, and picking up coins. We sailed during a storm so our route was altered; we circled around in the marina but the kids didn’t notice. The crew did a great job of keeping the kids distracted through some rain and our experience overall was great!

We took our whole family (16 of us ages 78 to 6 months) on 4/1/21 and we ALL had a great time! Pick pocket Pete and the whole crew were fantastic!! One of our kiddos was really scared of sailing on the boat and Pete made an extra effort to pull her into the fun and excitement and also to calm her nerves. All the kids loved the sword fighting and story telling. All of us adults loved the side jokes that flew over the kids heads. A fun day under the sun, on the water! Highly recommend!! Dress up in your favorite pirate gear when you go, that made it even more fun for all of us!

There were three generations on this trip and we all had a fantastic time. A lot of fun and laughter ... something appealing for all ages. I was especially impressed with Pick Pocket Pete. Not only did he put on a good show for all of us, but he seemed to be in tune with the children. Our 5 yr. old grandson is a special needs child, and he was very shy and anxious at first. He sat up top near the railing and only watched all the fun below. Pick Pocket Pete came up to the top and sat down with our grandson and talked to him and eventually held his hand and led him downstairs to join in with all the other kids. I had tears in my eyes when I saw that. He came up later on to see him again and brought little "treasures" for him. I will always remember this day, it was a real breakthrough.

Is there music and dancing for adults on the pirate ship?
Written January 21, 2020
They have a different “games”, one has a dance. There is music. The 90 mins goes so fast. There is a “bar” on board. Fun to just get in the water, inexpensive.

Is the 40$ buccaneers package worth it? What does the general kids admission include?
Written April 13, 2019
I didn't get that package, the stuff the kids get is cute, but depending on how many kids your taking it can get costly. They still ended up getting pirate hats (for free on the boat) then of course other things in the gift shop.

Where do you get the Boat? Concerned about bridge traffic - planning to go between April 6 and 11, 2017.
Written March 9, 2017
Kate is correct in her answer for the most part. You take the last left turn onto Main Street before heading over the bridge to the beach. You can also make a left turn on to Buttonwood at the alternating light and that will take you to Main Street as well.
The restaurants and pirate cruise are located at Salty Sam's Marina. There is a big sign, you can't miss it. The Pirate Store is located next to Parrot Key Caribbean Grill, that is where you check in.
As for the traffic, it has been pretty bad lately. I would allow yourself an extra 45 minutes to arrive on time. The boat starts boarding a half hour before the scheduled cruise time.

They do not need to wear life jackets. The ship is coast guard approved and the sides are high enough to prevent falling overboard. We do ask that kids not stand or kneel on the benches as a precaution. There is no need to worry about the life jackets with all the fun they will be having!

dustyzz75 you are absolutely correct! The Buccaneer and Captain Kid package are upgrades to the regular tickets and include things such as swords, bandanas, squirt guns, and eye patches.
Written October 26, 2015
Thank you Donna! She is spot on. Adults are $29.95 Kids are $25.95.
You may also purchase either a Buccaneer package for a child ($32.25 - Boarding Pass, Eye Patch, Bandanna, Sword, Pirate Bag) or a Captain Kid Package ($40.00 - Boarding pass, Pirate Water Pistol, Eye Patch, Captain Hat, Pirate Hook, Treasure Bag with Coins, and a Pirate Bag)

I see photos of guns firing. Are there loud noises on this cruise?
Written January 12, 2015
There is a small canon they shoot but they give fair warning and if you are not next to it, it's not bad. We had both of our grandkids, ages 6 and 2 and we just had them plug their ears and they were fine. They only shoot it like twice.
