We love walking and biking on the trails on Black Island. In the summertime they offer a respite from the hot sun. Some of the wildlife you may be lucky to view include dolphin, manatee, alligators, gopher tortoise, raccoons, armadillo and more. The birds are amazing! Egret, Heron, Owl, Pelican, Osprey and an occasional Eagle.

The beach is very clean, and you can walk out in the water quite a ways. Very nice place to relax. There are a lot of shells for the taking too, as long as there isn't something living in it.

We plan an entire day when going to this beach. Lots of sun and great beach. You must bring all the supplies for the day. They do sell things in the little store just before catching the shuttle train to the beach. You can keep going past this area and have your own cook out with charcoal too. Bring your... More

Ok, the beach is AWESOME! I recommend going to park and using the North entrance, it's a lot cheaper than the main gate in the middle of island. It's a little piece of paradise, and its great to sit out, go for a swim and watch people pull their boats right up to the beach. We were out there for... More

Lovers Key must have been named with visitors in mind. It has trails a boardwalk, birds, wildlife, but most of the action is on the beach. Parking was $8. with a tram to take you to the beach.

On a hot day, this is a almost perfect way to cool off. A tram can take you to the part of the beach that rents umbrellas and chairs, if you didn't bring your own. There is a snack stand with a limited menu. The hot dogs were boiled instead of grilled so we were a little disappointed with them.... More

We stayed the dsy at the beach here. It was $8 to park, but well worth it. There is a free tram down to the shore where you can rent an umbrella and chairs. The water was great. There were some small fish and we spotted dolphins. Bring food and drink as the concession stand had very little.

I read reviews about this place and noted a certain amount of grizzling from some of you guys about the water. All id say is try Southend in June! This was fantastic, the water was a bit greenish and some Mangrove pods were in the water. It was warm, clean and lovely, it felt really natural and we loved it.
