We had a terrific time with Captain Wes over the holidays. My three teenagers were thrilled that the Captain put us on some fish and was patient with them, baiting their hooks more times than we could count. I recommend this outing for families looking to see the area by water and make terrific memories catching a ton of fish.

We had an incredible day on the water and Captain Wes got us into a ton of fish early, and kept the bite going all day. We did a 6 hour trip and were 100% satisfied with the results. I’ve been on numerous charter boats and this was by far the most productive and fun. He saw my 10 year old light up when a shark stole my catch and immediately got him set up with a shark rig. I’ve never seen my kids so excited. (My apologies for my boy getting so excited and saying “I need a shrimp” vs normal manners but he was so excited for this trip). I cannot recommend FishSkinner enough. We will be booking another trip soon... like two days soon!

We had a great day on the water with Wes. The conditions weren't ideal due to the tide changes, and we had to keep moving to get on fish. But Wes was great with my two sons, who are really into fishing, and super competitive with each other. He did a great job helping them bait up and cast out, keeping them in enough action to make it fun for all of us.

I flew in from VA to visit a friend and we spent a great day on the water with Wes.

We got into fish on the second cast, and ended the day having caught lady fish, sea trout, snook, redfish and even a catfish.

Wes really knows his stuff and is a pleasure to hang out with too. We highly recommend FishSkinner!

Captain Wes was a great host and made the day fun and easy for beginner fishermen. We went shark fishing and our two teenage girls were reeling them in within minutes. We had a great time and will definitely do it again! Thanks Wes!

Captain Wes was awesome! We caught lots of fish and had a great time. It was my wife and I and our six year old son and eight year old daughter. Our main goal was keeping our kids interested and catching fish... and that is what we did. We caught a bunch of different types of fish and were able to bring some back to be cooked up by a local restaurant. It was amazing! Highly recommended and will come back again!

Captain Wes was an excellent guide and me and my two boys (10 & 11) had the time of our lives. Awesome outing with many fish and we even brought home a huge tripletail for dinner. Thanks Captain Wes. Hope to see you again soon.

worst fishing trip I ever experienced. been on this boat before and was happy. this trip it seemed as though Wes didn't even want to be there , only moved twice and seemed to have given up. No fish at all, which doesn't bother me if he tried. Paid a lot of money for nothing. will never be on this boat again

Carl, I'm glad to know that you had a great experience previously fishing with us. I'm sorry to hear that you felt I didn't want to be there. Sometimes when the fish aren't biting I have a tendency to start focusing on where the fish may be rather than being in the moment. However I always try to give a 100%. I recall being on a school of Redfish that didn't even want to eat even after throwing hand fulls of bait at them . The moon was very full the night before which usually means the fishing the day after will be a bit slower. I was also communicating back and forth with other guides who were having the same problems. I sincerely apologize for your bad experience and wish you the best on your next fishing charter, whomever it's with.

Booked a 6 hour tarpon trip with Capt. Wes. He was supposed to call the night before with details about our meet time. By 6:30 we hadn't heard from him so we called and his wife said he was out fishing but would call us when done. 8:30 still hadn't heard so called again but got voicemail. Then I sent a text and finally heard back from him shortly before 9. The next morning he was on time and prepared. He invited us aboard but never introduced himself, just kept talking to the captain next slip over. My husband took the initiative and introduced us. He never offered a place to keep our things. We took off and quickly found tarpon. Capt. Wes gave my husband a reel but never offered one to me. My husband cast right into the tarpon but no bites. We expected that though and knew tarpon were a tricky fish to go for. It was awesome seeing them jump in the water though. Capt. Wes was very knowledgeable about the different fish and conditions for fishing. After having no luck, we tried another spot. Saw some tarpon but Capt. Wes was leery of sharks steeling our bait because the crabs we were using were $3 a piece. I totally understood that, but hooking into a shark would have been nice seeing since we had no bites, plus we paid $600 which I'm sure helps pay for the bait. At the end, a storm was rolling in so we had to get going, plus our time was up anyways. We got nailed with heavy rain coming back in and were totally soaked. When we got back to the marina, Capt never said much other than "how are you going to cover the balance." We paid, then he got off the boat and he went straight to his truck. Overall I was not impressed. I understand that he can't help the fact we didn't hook a fish or that we were soaked from the storm. Just wished he would have made up for it through his personality and the overall experience. We had done other charters on our trip and thought they were much better.

I'm sorry your fishing charter was "not all you hoped for". We strive to be professional and personable so that each and every excursion is enjoyable for our clients. However, The evening prior to a charter I will call my clients to confirm the arrangements. Your husband called and spoke with the office in the late afternoon and he was told that I had two trips that day and it may be late before I could call you back. He was asked if it was ok to text to confirm if it got too late and his response was, " No, it's ok to call anytime. We're going out for drinks now so that will be just fine". Very friendly husband! Next thing I know at 8:30 PM, as I'm cleaning my boat off after a long day of work, I get a less than pleasant voicemail from you about how you hadn't received your confirmation yet. I'm assuming there must have been a lack of communication between you and your husband. Once I hear your message I immediately call you back apologizing. Even if I did just get off the boat, haven't had a chance to eat or see my family because I'm in the middle of cleaning my boat to prepare for my next charter, your phone call should have been my first priority. I have to address the issue of not offering you a rod. Lol, I am married to a very strong willed woman who would probably throw me overboard if she thought I was not fair or treated a lady the same as a man. Because we were Tarpon fishing it was my intention to hook one and then hand the rod to you. Fishing in Boca Grande pass is tricky and the technique and pressure of the pass is not for everyone. I do apologize if I handled that wrong. As far as the Shark stealing our bait. I have to be cautious of that when we're on a Tarpon charter because we're on a Tarpon Charter NOT a shark charter. Crab is really, really, REALLY hard to come by around here. As a captain we have to hunt them down and have secret stashes that we hide from other fellow captains because they are hard to find right now. So, It really came down to making sure the shark didn't eat all of our bait because I wanted you to be able to catch a Tarpon. When we got back to the Marina, I asked for the balance and headed to my truck to put my stuff away to keep it from getting wet. Normally, I will be much more personable and gracious but because we were in the middle of 50 mph winds along with rain and lightning, I thought it might be best to get you and your husband out of the weather. I know you're not from Florida but our afternoon rain storms are not something that you want to mess with. I was thinking of your safety and well being not my good looks and great personality. BTW, I had a great time with your husband and I thought you were having a good time too. I can honestly say that I was surprised to know that you were so disappointed.
