Snow birds and locals pack the theater for almost every show. Just saw "A Gentleman's guide to Murder" which was very well staged and acted. The Rep, located in th eArcade in downtown Ft Myers is always on top of their game with a good choice of shows. If you spend time in Ft Myers, be sure to get tickets to at least one show.

I have seen many performances over the last five years, and Florida Rep is the premier live theater in the Fort Myers area. The acting, sets, lighting, costuming, etc. are always of the highest caliber. Their plays run the whole spectrum of comedy, drama and musicals. I also like that they have presented premier pieces. I recently saw Barefoot in the Park and it ticks off all of the boxes for an outstanding comedy.

This is one of the best community theaters we have seen. The play, Barefoot in te Park, was great, and the actors energetic and enthusiastic about their work. Tge theater is small and quaint with good views from every seat. I would highly recomend the Florida Rep Group.

First time after new management and I give it as many stars as possible. The cast of Barefoot in the Park was excellent and as good as any I’ve seen on Broadway. Staging, timimg, comedic effects seemed effortless! I’m ready for my next experience!

First time to this venue and was tremendously impressed. All seats seemed great no obstructed views. Comfortable. Inside the historic downtown arcade.
The production was a shear joy to watch. Was superior to the same production we saw @ Shea’s Buffalo.
Very close to several great restaurants.
Veterans get big discount.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND

We live in Fort Myers and have seen plays at the Florida Rep Theater several times.
The theater has been restored to its original condition and takes you back in time. The Florida Rep Theater Company is excellent and has the reputation as one of the best in the country. This is a medium size venue and you won't be let down by the talent on stage! To be honest, we need to do this more often! Pair the Rep Theater with dinner, dessert or drinks in the River District and you've got a super night out!
One thing of note: Ask about a handicap entrance as the lobby entrance is steep (compared to everything being flat in Florida) and may be a little challenging for anyone using a walker, wheelchair or pushing a stroller.

When we drove up to this theatre for the 1st time we thought we may have made a $110 mistake. The theatre was old with a small lobby where 2 people took orders, sold candy and made drinks. You had to walk uphill to get to the concession and the too small toilets for the size of the crowd. The seating was very close together so if you got there early and had an end seat you had to stand or go back in the aisle until the whole row was occupied. Once they started the play it was pure entertainment! The sound system was good and the actors were excellent! What an enjoyable afternoon!

If you like High School Plays and acting you may like the Florida Repertory Theatre. Starting even before the play you have to listen to the big Blow Heart Robert Cacioppo. He likes to brag about the rep and is very very boring. So when you finally get to the play you have lost interest. Someone please shut this guy up. Talent is always forced and like I said high school.

This is the best adaptation of the book I have ever seen. The cast, and especially the children, were professional, funny, and into their characters, so much, that I felt like I was sharing their experiences with them, along with all the emotion that they delivered!
A great show, in an intimate, yet well designed theater, where the cast could deliver their lines, without microphones, and still be clearly heard.

Do they ever have musical plays, i.e. Phantom Of Opera, South Pacific? Do they serve food? Where can I purchase tickets?

They do not serve food, but being downtown, there are numerous restaurants in the area. They have had musicals in the past, but that is not the norm. I have never been disappointed by the talent in any of the plays. You can purchase tickets online, small convenience fee added, and pick up tickets at will call on the night of the performance. You can see from any seat in both the Arcade and Studio Theaters.

yes, but have not looked at a schedule. FYI: Mr Cassiopia (director, et al)n keeps in close touch with his NYC contacts. Call the theater, or use the net and find schedules of shows and reviews. We are never disappointed.
