Receptionist was informative and welcoming. Gardens themselves were lack luster. Needs some work in and out. Inside staff seemed annoyed with questions. House and grounds need attention but can't do it without our support. Bring friends and family.

We truly enjoyed the butterfly sanctuary as a quiet, peaceful place where we learned so much that we never knew before about butterflies. Everyone is friendly, and the sanctuary was beautiful.

Although it is smaller than other butterfly sanctuaries that I have been to, it is still an excellent place to bring children and to learn more about our native butterflies. There is also a gift - garden shop next door. They sell both nectar &...More

Butterfly Estates--How is it? (2 Replies)
My husband and I will be staying in Ft. Myers for a couple of days before staying on Sanibel Island for 5 days. I've looked at the website for Butterfly Estates, but I'm not sure if its where we want to spend an afternoon. Does it have beautiful butterflies from different parts of the world flying around? If so, I think I'd like it. Could someone who has been there tell me what the butterfly population is like there? Thank you!

We have been there a few times and I really like it. They have all kinds of beautiful butterflys and often while walking through it they will land on you. There is also a cute little cafe on site that makes wonderful sandwiches.
