Friendly & helpfull staff. Great location in a nature preserve. We took the eco tour. Saw crabs, egret, eagles, osprey, pelicans, and several dolphin.

We saw a few dolphin and also a mother and baby manatee. They do rent double (tandem) kayaks.

I can help with a couple of your items: 6) Denali to McCarthy is about 11 hrs. A couple of rental companies that allow gravel roads: Go North, Midnight Sun, A-1. Or...you can use Kennicott Shuttle, and park your car anywhere from Glennallen to Chitina, thus avoiding gravel roads. If you decide to break the trip into 2 days, good stopping points for hikers would be either Hatcher Pass or Matanuska Glacier. 7) You mean Root Glacier. Exit is near Seward.
