A trip up the New River.

A trip up the new River is a fun experience. See all the new and old homes and many boats are docked in both sides of the River. Well worth it.

To see the real beauty of Fort Lauderdale, take a River Cruise down the Nu River to the mouth of Port Everglades, most trips are an hour and a half and feature light snack and beverages.

This is a very scenic trip on the water taxi. Pretty narrow, but you see some very expensive homes on the river. This is part of your water taxi route.

New River was a water way for the local Indians long before the first Europeans arrived. It now runs through downtown Ft Lauderdale. The Stranahan House, The Riverwalk area are a couple of sites along its modern shore.

You will love the historic hotels, the lovely riverside, the boats, the opera house and the museums. You can take a free water taxi or wander until you find a nice place to eat or have a drink. The first Sunday of the month there is a free jazz brunch.

Park for free in one of the back streets of N Las Olas and walk up the pedestrian area. It is a lovely walk along side the new river.

Rode the water taxi through here and the homes and boats are unbelievable along the river. The boat captain had stories about the homes, boats and history of the area, very enjoyable. Of course the captain you get will determine the entertainment value as some of them are better story tellers than others. If you ride the water taxi over... More

We walked along the new river and enjoyed it. Saw some very nice yachts and boats. There aren't a lot of shops or restaurants, but if you are interested in taking a leisurely walk, this is a good place.
