So many nice water views right in the heart of the city. It's a nice river, it's fairly clean and there are so many boats and nice tours on it too. But you can still just enjoy it's beauty from the riverbank.

The new river is just off the ICW. Nice to see. Traveling the ICW is a great time the first time. After that it is a slow way to travel. Great for seeing all the megayachts, and villas, Iguanas.

Spend a day going up and down the river if you have a boat. If not you can rent one at several places or take a tour or water taxi. Watch for manatees and check out all the beautiful million dollar homes. You can even go past but not close to the big cruise ships.

A trip up the new River is a fun experience. See all the new and old homes and many boats are docked in both sides of the River. Well worth it.

To see the real beauty of Fort Lauderdale, take a River Cruise down the Nu River to the mouth of Port Everglades, most trips are an hour and a half and feature light snack and beverages.

This is a very scenic trip on the water taxi. Pretty narrow, but you see some very expensive homes on the river. This is part of your water taxi route.

New River was a water way for the local Indians long before the first Europeans arrived. It now runs through downtown Ft Lauderdale. The Stranahan House, The Riverwalk area are a couple of sites along its modern shore.

You will love the historic hotels, the lovely riverside, the boats, the opera house and the museums. You can take a free water taxi or wander until you find a nice place to eat or have a drink. The first Sunday of the month there is a free jazz brunch.

We boated through on a rental. Great views of the rich and famous homes and boats. A lot of places to stop and eat/drink.

Park for free in one of the back streets of N Las Olas and walk up the pedestrian area. It is a lovely walk along side the new river.
