We visited here twice during our stay in Fort Luaderdale (in February). The first time was at the weekend during the evening. We found one of the greeters at the restaurant extremely helpful and he told us where we could walk up to Los Olas Blvd or down to the Performing Art centre.

We strolled up to Los Olas Blvd and actually ended up eating there, and the stroll back was nice after a big meal.

It was lively with plenty of people around.

We did a similar thing in the week, but there were fewer people around and the lighting on the footpath was not good. I felt uncomfortable and not safe as there were also a number of down and outs on the walk from Los Olas Blvd back to the Riverfront area.

How does it even happen that all those buildings, fountains, escalators, etc. are left to just ROT right next to a beautiful, well-landscaped walkway along the waterway? Within steps of a nice downtown, a museum (which is why we were there), near what look like million dollars per unit condos? What kind of colossal greed and/or mismanagement ends in this eerie, zombie-apocalypse movie set? It doesn't seem like a reasonably well-run city couldn't do what's necessary to either fill those spaces or take it all down. This is a testament to something, but I don't really know what.

What a SHAME.

This was once a very nice place to spend an afternoon and evening. It is now a mere shadow of its former self and maybe not even that good. Only one decent restaurant still exists, the Briney Pub. You can pick up the water taxi there which is nice and there is a very good river cruise boat there, but that's about it. I rated it 2 out of 5 because of the Briney Pub, the water taxi and the river cruise. In the evening, it is a hangout for rude kids and panhandlers.

Just came back from Florida, spent a few nights down at the Riverfront on Las Olas. What can I say...it was the most fun I've had in a while. Cross over the train tracks and there is a whole 2 blocks of nothing but bars/clubs where you can walk around with drink-in-hand and hop around bar to bar! During the week is a bit more quiet, but on a Friday or Saturday night, its a popular place, very crowded! If you are in the 20 to 30 something age...check it out. Even if you are older and still know how to party with the best of them, you should go too!

It has many many years since we have visited this once vibrant spot. Looking at the place now, it is sad to see the decay and the void. The economy clearly has made an negative impact with only 2 stores and the AMC theaters listed on the directory. Don’t waste your time here.

Was there 7 yrs ago & it was the place to be. Vibrant; plenty of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, shops, etc. Came back last night (nov. 2013) with my wife & child and can honestly say it was scary being the only people walking around in the dark, along with the 3 homeless people. Up the street is where its happening. Our waitress informed us that the riverfront was bought out a few years ago by a real estate developer, with the intention of improving it, but she said it seems to have been abandoned.

Lots of restaurants and stores are closed, we need to invigorate the area with attractions to bring more tourists and locals there.

I went here with my husband before we were to see a musical at the Broward center theater which is nearby and to my surprise there was nothing here except for a movie theater. My husband asked me if I was crazy for wanting to go there but I remember when I was a teen coming here in 2001 and this was the "it" place to go. It used to be so awesome back then but now it is a sad desolate piece of property left to rot. The city of ft. Lauderdale needs to do something with this place. It's horrible.

it's a ghost town here. It used to be booming with restaurants, bars and people. Not sure why everyone left but there are only a few restaurants left. Save time and skip this area.

We had been visiting the Fort Lauderdale area for a number of years when our kids were smaller and we remember how lively and entertaining Las Olas Riverfront was some 10 years ago. Full of restaurants, shops and galleries. It's a complete ghost town now. All the buildings are still there but the windows are boarded and if it wasn't for the tourist coming off the river cruises there would not be a soul to see.

Save some time and skip this place (at least until it is revitalized since the city has just approved a huge project to bring it back to life). Stick to the Las Olas Blvd in the meantime.
