- Kim CKansas City, Missouri1 contributionGreat get awayEnjoyed our beach front walks. Took a Water Taxi Tour. It was very educational and beautiful views of homes and yachts. Walk Los Olas boulevard and experienced the stores. Divers were practicing at the International swimming hall of fame. Many platforms to practice from. Did not tour the museum. Will definitely do that when come back to Fort Lauderdale.Visited January 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 4, 2024
- Grant A5 contributionsA couple fantastic days in Fort Lauderdale! We found this hotel to be perfect for our couple nights in Fort Lauderdale. the location was great, with tons of restaurants to choose from. The hotel itself it in excellent condition considering it's age. The staff were all commendable.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 5, 2024

The people watching is good, the dog watching is better, and the yacht watching is amazing. This goes for quite a distance so it really doesn't matter where you stop and start. The bridges provide crossover opportunities as long as the drawbridge is not up. Mostly residential along the sides with few restaurants.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 3, 2024
- Patty BNashville, Tennessee1,465 contributionsAlways FunThis is a place that we love to revisit when we are in Ft. Lauderdale. We have a brick there on the walkway. It’s always fun to try to remember where it is. I only wish they maintained it better. We also don’t like the iguanas that are scurrying about. They weren’t there when we lived in Ft. Lauderdale from the 1980’s till 2000.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 26, 2024
- Bea1,301 contributionsWonderfulWe were told that Fort Lauderdale is American Venice so we definitely wanted to check it out as Europeans. A very nice place to have a walk and admire beautiful views, boats. If was laid back just in the middle of the busy city. We loved the city, its riverwalk and I would definitely like to get back here.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 11, 2024

If you are waiting for the Cheesecake Factory to open just turn left and go down to the walkway by the river. It is very quiet and beautiful and you are able to admire huge boats of all types. The tour boat is right there also. They seem to do the tour every couple of hours. Unfortuneatley like everywhere, there are a few homeless men handing around. Just be aware of them. There are many dog walkers in the area. This a is beautiful area of quiet.

The views of the New River and all the boats are amazing. The walkway provides a great way to see the river and enjoy the outside cafes and restaurants along the Riverwalk. The New River Cafe is a must stop for either a coffee or a light lunch. You can get a Water Taxi or the Water Trolley right out side the New River Cafe.

Nice walk along the riverfront. There are shops, restaurants and businesses here. You can also walk to Old Fort Lauderdale and its historic buildings. There were people riding bikes and walking dogs here as well as occasional sketchy characters. A nice riverwalk.

My husband and I just loved walking this area - to restaurants, The Wharf, waiting for water taxi.... would have loved more seating or park benches to view the beautiful boats coming and going. There are restaurants off the path, but few along the River. Upscale area. Nice

Super fun and safe area for a great walk, cocktails, brunch or simply enjoying a nice sunny day people and boat watching. Lots of restaurants and bars mixed with condos and boats. Also, a great area with some very historic buildings.

The Riverwalk area was a very nice area to stroll around and see the immense yachts! We spent about 2-3 hours walking up down and taking the free water trolley from one end to the other. Enjoyed watching all the draw bridges go up and down as yacht after yacht cruised by. Also there are several restaurants where you can sit outside and enjoy a meal or drinks. We parked at the parking deck next to The Wharf and had no issues with security as I've read in other reviews.

The river walk is actually very beautiful. We walked the entire length of the channel and saw some interesting sites on foot. Fabulous outdoor restaurants, condos and historic sites. We really enjoyed our time and will take the time to walk the river walk when in the Las Olas area.

We took the walk on a Friday about mid day in August. There are lots of yachts to see parked along the water's edge, with several drawbridges. There are few restaurants along the route with several a short distance away. There are free water taxis that can pick you up at select spots and bring you to other locations. The total distance end-to-end is less than a mile. A nice way to spend a couple hours, and do take the taxi for nice ride on the water.

I like to park behind the police station south of River Walk. I think it's like $1.25 an hour or so. Great place to sit by 3rd avenue bridge too

According to Google it's closed on weekends. Is that so?
Written June 4, 2017
Not sure; There are bricks on the walkway everywhere with names on them. A great walk right to the end. Bring your camera and sit in the massive Adirondack Chair and have your picture taken. It's hilarious.

Call water taxi. From what I understand they go from one stop to another all day and as they go along they give tours
Written March 16, 2015
The water taxi I was on did not give tours, but maybe some do I would call the water taxi company

Is there a water taxi or boat that will give a tour of the Riverwalk system and allow a person to get on and off and explore shops and such?
Written January 10, 2015
Call water taxi. They should have a stop all along the river. The Opra house, the watering hole bars, broardway theatres, performing arts, museums are all spits they will drop folks off

Do you have a shuttle service to the airport?
Written January 10, 2015
RiverWalk is a shopping, dining and entertainment area. There are one or two hotels in the area, where taxis and Super Shuttle are available. I'm uncertain if any of the hotels there have a free airport shuttle service.
