Every time I pass by this place is closed. Has a sign out front that says only open two days a week certain hours I don't recall. This place is a GEM! The history is rich! I think I know the people involved but they travel a great deal unless I am mistaken. Easy to find if you get off Florida Turnpike in Florida city and go west on palm drive then make a right and go north on Krome ave (SR 997) for 1/4 mile or so going toward the entrance to Cracker Barrell. If you see Capri you went too far. If Capri is open eat there because food is good. The history and the people you meet at this place is worth the effort! Ask the people questions as they have a rich story to tell of south florida life. Also go north to visit the Homestead Museum that is free admission on Krome near Losner Park and the new Homestead police station. If you visit both places you will have many more ideas what to do while in the area. Also see the Seminole Theatre and eat at El Toro Taco and Casita Tejas (305) 248-8224 and Redland Fruit and Spice Park and Everglades National Park before you visit the Florida Keys!

Florida Pioneer Museum is a nice historical museum. It has unique things to be seen. It is maintained by City of Florida. It was built at a time when the local community identified a need for a center to house a growing collection of local artifacts.

The Florida Pioneer Museum in Florida City, near Homestead, Florida is a treasure trove of early 20th century artifacts, household goods, farm tools, railroad memorabilia and much more... staged in a pioneer home build for the local stationmaster by the FEC railroad more than a century ago. They're open much of the year on Wednesday and Saturday, staffed by enthusiastic volunteers who grew up in the area, most from pioneer families. Their web site is a wonderful resource for information about the museum, as well as articles about pioneer families and prominent citizens that contributed much to the area in their lifetimes.

This is a s!!urprising little gem of a museum, in the middle of Dade City. It's a bunch of separate buildings, each just chock full of actual relics from the local area. There's a one room schoolhouse, orange packing plant, train depot... and a whole lot more. If you find yourself in the area, this is worth a few hours of your time. They also have special events, and since I live in the area, I'll definitely be going to some of these. For dates, you can follow them on facebook. My favorite building was the one that housed all the old horse and buggies- pretty cool stuff. I take off a point because a lot of the stuff there has no explanation as to what it is, and how old it is. However, that is kind of part of the charm- if this stuff was in Washington DC, it would all be in glass cases-- here, it's just sitting in buildings with similar things. Like I said, you have to see it to understand. Also, just want to add, not for young children And older children, only if they like historical stuff.

This museum doesn’t appear to be open. It looks like something that may have been open before the pandemic, but anymore. We couldn’t find hours of operation anywhere at the site.

its always good to know a little history of places you are going to visit and this stop was a nice example of getting some infos how the railway to Key West was built and how people lived there. The excursion was led by a very nice lady, thanks :)
