WOW, where to start... First of all, Britney, our instructor was beyond AMAZING!!! She was super knowledgeable and made both my husband and son (who had never ridden before) feel very comfortable. When you arrive, everything is all set up and waiting for you. Britney went over a couple safety rules and before we knew it, we were being assigned a horse and saddling up. The horses are extremely gentle and VERY well trained. During our very serine gallop onto the beach some kids decided to let off fireworks about 200 yards in front of our horses. As soon as the fireworks started to go off my horse and my sons horse turned and started to quickly gallop the other direction. Immediately, Britney reminded us to hold pull up our Snow cone and within seconds the horses slowed and came to a stop. It all happened within a matter of seconds and could have been a disaster had the horses not been so well trained along with Britney and her expertise on instructing and coaching. Britney quickly took charge and made sure the kids knew that fireworks were illegal on that part of the beach. Soon after that our much enjoyable, pleasant trot along with beach was spectacular. Watching the sun set and seeing the horses walking along that water line was breathtaking. Britney filled us in on what the horses like and don't like and which ones tend to lead and want to stick together. She also, pointed out the home of the infamous writer John Grisham.
Before booking our reservation with Amelia Island Horseback Riding, I researched other companies. Some of which may have been a little less expensive. However, you definitely get what you pay for. Amelia Island Horseback Riding, is a top-notch company with beautiful, gentle, well-trained horses and a staff that is friendly, knowledgeable, and more than happy to take photos of you (something that was a must for me as I am a huge scrapbooker) We HIGHLY recommend Amelia Island Horseback Riding and look forward to riding with them again in the future!!!

My husband & I booked a sunset ride for our 5 year wedding anniversary. We were hoping it would be just us, but in order to guarantee a private ride we would have to pay double (paying for 4 people instead of only 2) Although 3 other people were in our riding group, it was still a great experience. Our guide Deby was amazing. She made us feel very comfortable and her genuine love of horses is evident. We loved that she took pictures of us during the ride and she even got off her horse at one point to position our horses for the perfect picture!! We can’t thank her enough for capturing this special memory. I highly recommend this experience, especially the sunset ride.

This is such an amazing tour. We are a family of four including a seven-year-old who had never been on a horse before and within minutes he was galloping down the beach like a professional because of the help & instructions from our tour wonderful guide. Our guide was absolutely amazing and took so many pictures of us on the horses and together as a family! It was so relaxing yet fun riding these beautiful horses on the beach! It was definitely our favorite tour! This tour is for families of any age or would be an amazing romantic ride for a couple at sunset!

My husband and I had such an amazing time doing this! The horses are super tame and beautiful. Our guide, Brittney, was knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. Brittney told us they usually only have five guests at a time, but my husband and I were only with Brittney and one other guest. It's super intimate so your guide can answer questions and really ensure you'd having a great time. We would definitely do this again!

Kate was our guide. She was totally professional, took her time checking all the horse's tack and getting each rider up in the saddle and adjusting our stirrups. My friend and I have ridden our whole lives and it was so nice, for a change, to let Kate do all the work!! LOL Our horses were content, well fed and nicely groomed. They have been very well cared for, which is very important when I go on ANY guided trail rides. I only patronize businesses that care for their animals with love. Kate told me about her daily routine, packing up a trailer with 6 horses in tow to the beach every day is no small task!!! She really knows how to get the job done! Thanks for a great hour long ride on your beautiful beach!!! We'll see you next time we come to visit Amelia Island for sure.

Having owned and ridden horses for most of my life, I sometimes hesitate to book a trail ride when I'm out of town. I am so happy I did this time or I would have missed out on one of my best rides ever! From booking online till the end of the ride, my experience was the absolute best. My trail guide Brittaney was excellent! She gave excellent guidance and briefing for the inexperienced riders in the group and at the same time, gave me plenty of room and space to experience a great ride on the beach. The horses are obviously wonderfully cared for and gentle. I could have not asked for a better experience. Thank you Brittaney and A.I. Horseback Riding :)

Every vacation, my kids get to pick one activity that we do as a family. This time, my youngest son chose horseback riding, and the one hour beach ride sounded like a perfect fit for us. We LOVED it. We ranged from inexperienced to comfortable riders, and we all loved the horses and the gorgeous ride on the beach. Our guide, Brittney, was incredibly positive and knowledgable: we felt safe and happy. And our horses were perfect; a little dog had gotten loose from it's owner on the beach and yipped around at our horses ankles, and Brittney quickly whisked the dog away while the horses stayed completely calm. THANK you, Amelia Island Horseback Riding, for such an incredible experience! We plan to come back again and again!!

While on our honeymoon in mid-December, we greatly enjoyed our sunset horseback ride on the beach. Everything went smoothly and, since we don’t ride horses on a regular basis, we felt safe in the care of our guide. We would certainly ride with them again!

Great experience overall. Best price and great customer service. LOVED that our guide took time to take photos from our phones from diff angles so we could perfectly capture the moment. Owner was easy to reach by phone, laid back staff, offered a 3 rider discount, the entire experience was flawless from start to finish. Highly recommend.

This was a great experience! Britney was our guide and she was wonderful. She was a great teacher and explained horse behavior basics and how to treat the horses respectfully without putting too much pressure on them. She also put a lot of emphasis on safety and was very explicit about the risks of riding on the beach. As an experienced rider this was something I really appreciated. She was also very respectful of the beach rules and all of the other beachgoers :)
Expect a relaxing, gentle walk down the beach with your horse. Our ride was walk-only, but I'm not sure if this was because we had beginner riders or if this is an overall policy. Still a very enjoyable, relaxing experience for experienced riders as well!
Our guide was also great with the young child that was in our group. She guided his horse on a lead next to hers to get him started and then let him go at his own pace when he was comfortable. This experience would be a great introduction to horseback riding for your children (6+) in a really unique setting!
I called to reschedule my ride the same week (not during their limited, busier season) over weather/schedule concerns and they were very nice and accommodating.
Getting to ride a horse on a beautiful sunny beach is a rare treat for most and I definitely recommend trying it!

Is the TA map wrong? It shows it inland while it's supposed to be on the beach.

The business is located inland. However, they meet you at a public park next to the ocean and assign you your horses there and do the entire ride from the parking lot to the shore, along the shore and back again. As a customer you never go to the stables or business office.

We are planning a trip to Amelia Island next month. What direction does the sunrise or sunset tours go and how far (distance). My mother isn’t sure about riding herself due to a history of back surgery. Is there a place she can sit & watch?

We look forward to taking you riding! We meet at a public park at the beach where your mom can sit and watch while you get on your horses.... then she can walk over to the beach and watch you ride by. We ride north approx 3/4 mile and back... we love taking pictures of you as well at no charge!

Hello,
I have three children, ages 5, 8 & 12. Are they able to go riding? My 5 year old has ridden many times both tethered and solo, and I'd love to let her do it on the beach. Thanks!

We usually start from 6 yrs old and above..... but if you feel that child can ride on a horse by themselves and be tethered to our guide we will gladly take your family riding!

Is photography from cell phones allowed if the cell phones are in airplane mode?
Katy G
Jacksonville, FL2 contributions
I would say cell phones are always allowed, but if in airplane mode I think that would require a WiFi signal. I don’t know from personal experience if there were any WiFi hot spots available on our ride. I will say that the guides are amazing photographers and took great care in handling our cell phones to take phenomenal photos along the trail.
Just wondering about bringing our own horses and we have a living quarters trailer. So would love to camp and ride on the beach. Thanks

I think this area of the beach allows anyone to do so. You might want to google for Amelia Island beaches to get more details.
