My wife and i just did a 4 hour fishing trip with Capt. Lawrence Piper and it needs to be shared that this Capt. is amazing. It all started when he met us at the dock, before we left he covered all the safety procedures and explained everything clearly and easy to understand, we both felt totally safe. Then we headed out to fish from the first stop to the last it was obvious he wanted to make this trip memorable for us, he took his time in explaining everything that he wanted us to do and he too shared his wealth of knowledge about fishing and the town of Amelia Island. I just want to share that if you want to experience a good time fishing you need to do it with Capt. Lawrence Piper of Angler's Mark Fishing Charter

Thanks Tim W! That was a fun trip! Although Laura didn't "get on the board", I think she did really well. She'll be ready to land a big one next time! Glad we got a big one for your dinner, thanks again, LP

Memorable day fishing with college age son and high school daughter. We departed from Sawpit Creek boat dock (near Omni) for a morning of fishing along inter-coastal. We had wonderful time and Captain Piper took us to some solid spots to fish. We caught a wide variety, including Redfish, Seatrout, flounder, catfish and Mangrove Snapper. We're not seasoned fishing folks, yet Captain Piper made us all look and feel like pros. More important, we escaped the hustle and bustle of our online daily lives and really enjoyed the experience, conversation, and rooting each other on. Although our time together was priceless, the cost is very reasonable, and you'd be hard pressed to find a better guide.

Thank you sawbk5! Ya'll did great! I'm glad we got into some fish- we usually do and even those that are novices or need to "knock the rust off" tend to pick it up in no time. Yes, you can't beat getting out in the back waters to enjoy some easy fishing and forget about work and school for a bit. Thanks again, LP

We booked our fishing charter with Captain Lawrence and he did not disappoint. We are a family of four with a 14 year old daughter and 12 year old son. From the time our baits hit the water, we were catching fish and it pretty much stayed that way all morning. Everyone was catching them. Highlights included 2 trout over 20”, 2 nice reds with one hitting 30.5”, and 3 keeper flounder. We really appreciated how Captain Lawrence engaged with kids and made it a truly memorable experience for them. We can’t wait to do it again.

Thanks DKgross! That was a fun trip. I'm glad we had some hot action right away and got those big fish to the boat. Every once in a while we have a banner day like this. Thanks again, LP

Capt. Piper gave us an effortless and amazing experience out on the water, in a time where slowing down and having fun is something to truly appreciate. We’ve been out with guides in Charleston to mosquito lagoon, and decided to stay a little closer to home this time. In spite of my initial skepticism, since we fish on our own most the time, I can honestly say it was one of the best fishing days we have had in a WHILE. Thank you Capt. Piper for showing us how versatile and expansive local fishing can be, as well as providing us a stress-free day in the middle of stressful year (as well as dinner for the next few weeks!)

Thank YOU Jenifer and D! It's always a pleasure to fish with folks with good attitudes - it's amazing to see how those that are out on the water to "just" have a good time tend to do so.- and catch fish! It must be a karma thing! Glad we had a good day. Thanks again, LP

My 2 adult sons picked Anglers Mark for our fishing trip on Thursday 8/12. Captain Lawrence Piper did not disappoint. Captain Lawrence was awesome. We met at 7:15 to start our day,and what a day it was. We’re barely set the anchor and my son caught a sea trout on his first catch. It never ended we caught so much fish. From sea trout to stingrays and everything in between. When things did get a little slow due the heat and humidity, Captain Lawrence brought things back to life with his enthusiasm and GPK contest Can’t say enough. When I go back to Amelia Island I will definitely be contacting Captain Lawrence. Oh by the way Bobby is still talking trash and flashing his GPK!

I have been fishing with Capt. Piper for a number of years (15 at least!) and I can truly say it is always a memorable experience. Capt. Piper is direct, extremely knowledgeable about the environment, and a great teacher when it comes to fishing. On a recent charter in early June, he spent the time to tell us about what to expect to catch, refreshed us on how to cast, and ensured he prioritized us having a great experience over anything else, not to mention catching a wide variety of fish (shark, Jack Crevalle, sea trout, among others). To top if off Capt. Piper summarized the experience in a well-written post in his blog and sent pictures for the memories! Highly recommend the experience and will always be my go-to for fishing charters in the area.

Thanks Brent! It was a pleasure fishing with you and B. I'm glad we had some great weather and some good action - summertime fishing almost always means a variety of catches. Thanks again, LP

Capt Piper, in my opinion, is the best guide in the area! I have been fishing with him for over 10 years and can only say that each experience is better than the last one. His knowledge of the area is superb and his equipment and tackle is top-shelf. He is personable and his concern for his clientele is extremely evident. When in the area, do your best to book a charter with him, you will not be disappointed.

Friday the 17th, a friend and I went out with Captain Larry Piper. It was a beautiful but warm day. Through the course of the morning we caught several redfish including one that took me 10 minutes to get to the boat. We also caught mangrove snappers and a couple of flounder.
Captain Larry was very knowledgeable and helpful with the tackle. He took good care of us and cleaned / filleted the keepers for us.

Thanks scotch! That was a nice fish! Sometimes I wonder if we really want to start the day off with an Oversized Redfish as the first catch of the day -it can only go down hill from there! But that was a good fish for the photo album! Thanks again, LP

Want to catch some fish???
My husband and I went with Capt. Lawrence before and this year I went with my 5 year old and brother. We could not have been more pleased! His experience, skill, knowledge (mainly fishing!), and patient with children makes the trip quite enjoyable. He will make a great day of fishing not only for the experienced fisherman, but have kids enjoying it as well!

This was our second time fishing with our 2kids (age 3). Captain Lawrence made the experience relaxing for us, fun, and educational for all. He was knowledgeable about the area, the types of fish, and he made the kids feel safe and comfortable. He took us to several different spots, we caught a quite a few fish and even a crab!

Thanks MBM! I thought the kids did outstanding! Usually those 3-4 year olds lose interest quick-but they did great. I'm glad we had some good action here and there. thanks again, LP

Hello Country Girl! I do boat tours....and we see dolphin...on occasion! We usually tour Old Town, Fort Clinch, Cumberland Island and Tiger Island and do see wildlife-birds, dolphin, manatee, even a gator on occasion. But not always.

I do, but the best time to fly fish is Spring(April, May) and Fall (Sept, Oct, Nov) when we have high flood tides, the water is cooler, and the Redfish are tailing up in the grass. We can sight fish for them. In other times of the year you would be blind casting in similar areas that we are catching fish with bait. You have a shot at catching fish but that can get tiresome casting all day in hopes that a fish be there and take what we are offering. Hope this helps, L. Piper

How young do you accept children on board? I have a 4 and 1/2 year old, I am trying to decide if this would be an appropriate excursion for him and his father in June! Thanks!
Written May 18, 2015
I don't mind them that young, however there attention span tends to fall off after about 30 minutes of fishing. His dad won't get in a whole lot of fishing. IF you want the excursion for the 4 1/2 year old, I'd suggest let's do a 2 hour "Creatures of Amelia" tour. I can take all three of you on a boat ride, historical tour, and also see some wildlife. Knowing that, I set out crab traps the day before the trip. We haven't got skunked yet! I usually have some live bait left over from morning fishing trip so the kids can play with that. IF you want to get some fishing done, I'd recommend sending Dad by himself. We could mix the trip - 3 hours of fishing, come back to the dock, and pick up you and your son for a 1 hour tour. Thanks, hope this helps. L.Piper
