Played today in off and on-again rain. Course drained well, greens were in fantastic shape. Course attendants were friendly. Folks in the clubhouse grill provided great service. My friends and I typically play in Ponte Vedra Beach or San Jose Country Club in Jacksonville. Decided to venture to Fernandina Beach for the day and we are glad we did. Only downside was we played behind a fivesome who had to be hurried along by the marshals. But that's not the facility's fault. Recommended.

You will like to hit-em-up at North Hampton. The staff is very friendly, the cart girl is around quite often and the food is EXCELLENT.
The course is tight on some holes and open on others. It has a good deal of sand but it is not tricked up at all. It is always in excellent shape with greens that hold and run true.
Also they have 5 different tee boxes so it can be fair for everyone.
It is also a MUCH better value than most of the high-end courses on the island.

OK, full disclosure here. I have a North Hampton membership. I love the course. It's an Arnold Palmer Signature course that will require precision with every club in your bag. The design is intended to mimic Scottish links-style courses. However, there is water on almost every hole (14 of 18, I think). To score well here, you have to be able to hit your irons accurately and make putts (the greens are tricky). I actually know some people who complain that its too difficult. I think that's nonsense. It's a great course that tests every aspect of your game. The best course in NE Florida, except The Stadium, in my opinion.

Played with a buddy on 1/26/21 and we won’t be going back. We’d played there a couple of years ago (he lives locally, I was vacationing on Amelia) and loved it so I booked us again. Boy, things have changed! Half of the tee boxes had little to no grass, the fairways had little grass, and most of the greens had weeds growing on them that would redirect a putt. The maintenance guys were removing beautiful bunkers and sodding them in “to make it easier playing and easier maintenance”. I don’t know what’s happened, but it’s not good!

It is a beautiful setting and great layout, but they’ve dropped the ball on maintenance.

Oh, #18 green behind the clubhouse was in great shape! I guess that’s for viewing pleasure.

i was in the yulee area with my family to spend new years with some friends who live there. i wanted to take my son to play a NICE golf course in the area. let me begin by saying the website makes this place look awesome. it was anything but awesome. first of all, the fairways are horrible, the greens look they had not been mowed in several days and they had weeds growing out of them. the bunkers were even worse. as we got to the first hole and started to get our drivers out of our bags we were passed by a foursome that informed us that they were already late for their tee time and they were going to be slow so we need to just be patient. so after they finally teed off and were out of the fairway headed to the green our group proceeded to hit our tee shots and go to our next shot. we waited for 10 minutes to hit our second shots from the fariway while the guys on the green ahead of us argued over who made double bogey and who made quadruple bogey, {they could have argued it out on the way to the next hole, just saying}. while we were waiting to hit our second shots we were paid a visit by the course starter who informed us WE were going to have to speed up or leave. it was the first hole and we were still waiting to hit our approach shots to the green! the group ahead of us was still arguing on the green, even though they had all already finished the hole, and he did not even go up there and say anything to them. as slow as that group was we did not see the group behind us after the third hole. i feel sorry for those behind that group. to make matters worse the starter stalked us several different times throughout the round with a very sarcastic smirk on his face every time he rode by us, still yet he never said anything to the group in front of us about speeding up.
i will never go back to this golf course. all i wanted to do was take my son to play what we thought would be a very nice golf course in the area with some friends to start off 2021 in a positive way after the year 2020 has been.

Not my favorite course.Best part of our experience the people that worked at the course and restaurant. If your index is above 15 I would suggest finding another course. The backside is very difficult. It's a lot like a links course with the addition of water. It's not in the best shape starting with the tee boxes, fairways marginal, and greens not so good.

No marshaling, took almost 90 minutes to play 4 1/2 holes. Drove around the group in from taking 7 holes to catch the group in front of us.

The restaurant food was pretty good. Burger is very good and chicken tenders were also good.

I would not go back

Being a member at North Hampton, I play there often. This is a tough course; rolling, with lots of water and sand, you never seem to have an easy shot. It has two short par 4s, but several long 5s including a monster at hole 2 that is 625 yards from the tips. The course is always a challenge and pleasing to the eye.

What a treat. My son and I played there on our way north. It's a beautiful, challenging course in an extremely pretty beach, dune and tidal setting. Back home I can't play in the Bronx for what this costs. It is by far a bargain and a course that forces one to strategize on every hole.

We tried the dinner at the Clubhouse Restaurant on Friday evening - it was very disappointing! The condition of the restaurant was terrible! They are doing upgrades on the restaurant, but it was filthy and pretty disgusting. Carpets were nasty and the place smelled like paint fumes - both not very appetizing. You would think that with the terrible condition of the facilities they would charge a reasonable price for the meals, but all of the prices were at a premium price! The staff and the processes used by the restaurant were extremely lacking and in need of serious training and improvement. Extremely slow service - took 35 minutes to get out check once we asked for it. Staff just did not seem to know how to work together or properly service the customers. The food was good, but it did not make up for the condition of the restaurant or the poor service received. Maybe in 3-6 months they will get things cleaned up and people properly trained. Until then, we will dine elsewhere.

Certainly trying to perform a food service while under construction can present challenges. Our contractors finished painting early Friday and the carpeting was removed Monday. New hardwood flooring is being installed currently, wiring for the new televisions was completed yesterday, and the plan is to be ready to go for Friday Night dinner service. All the updates should make the experience even more pleasant and complement the food quality more. We trust that the review you leave based on your next visit will reflect our effort to improve. Thanks for your feedback.
