About
Peg Leg Running Tours offers a running tour that winds through Amelia Island’s historic district. You'll learn about the people, buildings, and events that contributed to the remarkable history of the island as one of the primary eastern seaports during the 1800s. You'll also learn how the island came to be known as the Isle of Eight Flags as the only location in the United States to have had eight different flags fly over it.

This was a fun tour and I very much enjoyed hearing Rob's take on the history, local spots, and modern area. I could not make it through the whole run and Rob was very understanding. Definitely recommended.

Add me to the list of people who found this to be excellent. Rob will go at whatever pace is comfortable. He is very easygoing and knows his history well. No spoilers here, but I will say he has organized his presentation very well, around dates/flags/people/architecture and it's easy to follow and visualize all that he describes in the places as you run by them. There was something about moving and getting your heart rate up while hearing about all the history that made the experience so memorable and worthwhile.

I met Rob at 8am for a 3+ mile jog through the streets of the historic downtown Fernandina. I'm a slow jogger and he adjusted to my pace. I never felt rushed and I even stopped to take pictures as we weaved our way around town. The history was fascinating and he knows it all! Rob suggested heading over to Old Town after my run was over and I'm glad I did after knowing the history of the area. In my opinion this was the best way to get the history of downtown Fernandina.

We're always looking for different things to do when we travel. We are casual runners and this was a great way to learn some history about the area. Very accommodating for schedule and pace. Highly recommend this even for slower runners.

We like to take some sort of tour whenever we visit somewhere new. This was a great way to get our workout in while learning some of the history of the area. Rob was a great tour guide and will go at the pace of the slowest person in the group, so no worries of anyone being left behind.

This was a great way to kill two birds with one stone! This running tour was the first thing we did on our trip- a great way to get oriented to the island, learn some history, and get your workout in on vacation! It was a wonderful way to start the day. Thanks, Rob!

What a great way to get a workout in on vacation! My son and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Rob's knowledge of Fernandina's history while jogging past many landmarks in the historic district. I would definitely recommend this tour to family and friends visiting the area.

I am a runner, but my husband is not yet; we had a great time run/walking through the streets of Fernandina Beach. Rob is a born and raised local and tells a wonderful story of the history of the island. Much more fun than reading small plaques on a museum wall. Thanks Rob!!!
