Although he’s from Ireland, Daniel is passionate about the surprisingly rich history of Amelia Island. He has done a tremendous amount of research about it and remembers endless dates, facts, and figures which he conveys most entertainingly. And ask him about drumming and the musicians he has worked with. Highly recommended.

Thank you very much for your comments. They are always really appreciated by everyone at AIHT's in our pursuit of providing a memorable experience for your stay. What can I say that hasn’t already been said in other reviews?
Dan was delightful - great accent and wonderful sense of humor. Knows his history. The best part? I had requested he add a few stops he doesn’t normally do and he not only added them on but he asked US if it was ok if we added more time to the tour so he could fulfill everyone’s request!
I found the stories about the owners of the various old houses especially interesting.
Some of the properties on this island are absolutely gorgeous!

Highly recommended Amelia Island historic tour for visitors and locals alike. Daniel is informative and animated and truly enjoys sharing his vast knowledge of local history. ("yet is not scripted") The vehicle is very comfortable a climate controlled. If you're in the area...DO IT!!!!

Thank you for your 5 star review. No, we do not have a script as the history is a learned passion that all of our guides share in research and understanding of the incredible history this Island has to offer.
The hygiene and comfort of the vehicles is alway of the most upmost importance especially in this current worldwide pandemic.

Hi,
I moved to Florida right before the state went into lockdown. I am now starting to explore Florida and thought Amelia Island would be a good start on history and the different types of locations that Florida has to offer. I am from snow and desert this is a big difference living in Florida. I took the tour Amelia Island Historic Tour with Daniel and was not disappointed. The information of the Island and the history of the backstories of the people of the island were a great introduction to the island and its history. I will defiantly take this tour again when visiting the island. Thank you, Daniel.

It was a last minute idea, but we should have done this tour of Ferdinanda Beach first. Very inexpensive, and worth your while. 1 1/2 hour- 2 hours of the facts and mystery of the area. Daniel was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and interesting. His deeper dives into facts for accuracy was amazing. GO

We took the Historical Homes Tour. This was an amazing tour! We loved it. Daniel did a fantastic job, so much information and history! Loved how informative he was and how he made it interesting. We learned so much. The tour van was comfortable and the 90 minutes just flew by. So glad we took the tour. We recommend it to everyone! Excellent!

Always fun to be out with interactive groups and we certainly had a few questions thrown out there. Amelia is a truly magnificent location rich with history and some pretty amazing homes from our Golden Years. Your 5 Stars really makes a difference to us and without you there are fun tours to give! I’ve done historic and ghost tours in many cities but this one is at the top of my favorites. The information was presented with detail and although it is historic in nature the presentation made it very interesting. There was humor and the driver Michael was awesome. I will take my friends each time I return to Amelia Island. Thank you

We were a party of 6 including a 4 year old and a 97 year old. This was an excellent and entertaining tour! Daniel was a very knowledgeable about the history and told many interesting stories. I did think that charging $21.00 for a 4 year old was excessive but they did provide a "goody bag" with toys and a coloring book.

We are delighted that you enjoyed the tour and it was incredible to have so many generations from the same family together on a tour.
In regards to charging $21.00 for a 4 year old. Our prices reflect limited seating on a 12 seater van, that we cut off and eight and during these times currently, six is the maximum allocation of people on any one tour. If you book online there are regular prices, military / senior and children prices. We have taken note of your observations and reduced the children discount to $15.00 for under 16 years of age. This price also includes the "goody bag" you mentioned in your comments.

We called at the last minute and joined the afternoon tour. You are on the van the whole 90 minutes - no walking - which was fine for us on a chilly afternoon. You just sit back in comfort and enjoy the ride - and the guide. Daniel shares history both large (gruesome massacres of the French colonists by the Spanish) and small (the nuns hiding a drunken Father Halligan from the bishop). He also discusses the local economy and industries, so you really get a sense of the place. Highly recommended.

Amelia Island is loaded with history and Daniel is THE ONE you want as your tour guide! Daniel is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, engaging, entertaining and eager to share his wealth of knowledge of his beloved Amelia Island. His tour also involves much trivia that other tours may not encompass. Definitely a tour worth taking!
