As we had hoped, given it’s reviews, Amelia Adventures provided an excellent kayak tour to Cumberland Island. They assigned two experienced guides to our small group—Stacy and Thomas—who were each safety-conscious and informative. We asked to bring our own sea kayaks and gear and Amelia Adventures accommodated us without batting an eye—after checking on the seaworthiness of our yaks.

Our goal was to get a feel for the waters around Cumberland, in anticipation of more trips on our own. Stacy’s and Thomas’s guidance exactly fit the bill. In addition, we got to see a nuclear sub and it’s tenders transit the waterway as it returned to Kings Bay submarine base.

The trip provided excellent value for the money, and we’d recommend it to anyone with some appropriate kayaking experience. Amelia Adventures is very safety conscious, and certainly knows how to do a great tour. We don’t think you can go wrong choosing them.

My family and I (children ages 8, 11, 12) were over-the-moon happy with the Sunset Cruise that we took through Amelia Adventures. Our captain/guide Jeff was genuinely friendly, extemely experienced, and wholly committed to ensuring that we, and especially the children, had a memorable time. The children fell asleep that night still talking about dolphins and rays and horses and swimming alligators and thanked us an untold number of times for the best experience ever. Amelia Adventures was markedly committed to ensuring that our experience was overwhelmingly satisfying, from talking with the owner herself to book the cruise to having an amazing evening on the open water with Jeff. Cannot thank them highly enough and would absolutely recommend this cruise for any others to take.

What a FANTASTIC tour! This was one of the highlights of our visit. Stacy was a fantastic tour guide! He shared LOTS of fun and interesting information and history about the local area. This was our first kayak tour on relatively open water with other boat traffic. Although it was admittedly initially intimidating, Stacy kept us safe, and he adjusted our route to take advantage of the winds and tides. Of course they can not promise wildlife sightings, but we were fortunate to see multiple dolphin pods while kayaking in open water. What a thrill! We were also fortunate that although a bit windy, the weather cooperated on the day of our tour. Recommend scheduling a tour early in your visit, so if Mother Nature doesn't cooperate, you have a hope of rescheduling. You don't want to miss this!

Our family did a couple of kayaking tours with Amelia Adventures, they are one of the best in the St. Marys and San Fernandina area. Rachel was our tour guide for both the Lofton Creek and Egan Creek kayaking and she did a great job of getting us to navigate the narrow creeks. We had a wonderful time kayaking with Amelia Adventures and would definitely recommend them to anyone that wants to experience the beautiful water body around Golden Isles area.

A group of five older adults scheduled a kayak tour from Fernandina Beach to Cumberland Island. We were all fairly novice kayakers, however we had all been on trips with this group in the past. The young lady in the shop took time to explain what was going to occur, making sure we were all comfortable with the trip, and gave us easy directions to the boat launch.
Our guide for this trip was Rachel, and she was absolutely wonderful. She was very knowledgeable, had wonderful people skills, and made us all feel very comfortable as we began our trip. Rachel gave us a nice background on the area as we were paddling, and her love of the sport was very evident. This was our first ocean kayak trip, and I learned very helpful basics as we were moving out. When we arrived at beautiful C I we had a chance to explore a bit. Rachel shared island history and we even saw several of the wild horses in the distance.
Our return trip was beautiful, the wind had shifted greatly, so we really had to work hard….but it was absolutely amazing and Rachel was extremely supportive as we paddled our way past historic Fort Clinch and our home dock.
This was an incredible experience for all of us, right from the moment we began. We are planning to do this tour again, slowly working up to the longer C I tour.
We need to profusely thank Amelia Adventures and their staff for being kind and patient, and for providing us with a trip that will remain in our memories for a lifetime!!

Absolutely excellent experience. I did the Cumberland Island 3 hour kayak trip on 5/17/22, and it was wonderful. An easy paddle over to the island, where we paddled around a marshy area and looked for horses and wildlife. Walked on the beach a bit and then an easy paddle back. Will was a fantastic guide, full of knowledge and enthusiasm for what he was doing. This was definitely worth the money, and when I found out that they take photos for us that are included, that was an added bonus. We saw dolphins (in the distance), a small shark, horseshoe crab on the beach, lots and lots of birds, and beautiful scenery. Overall an excellent trip that was well-run, fun, and safe.
Also, just a quick note. I kayak a LOT when I travel, and Amelia Adventures was by far the cleanest, best-equipped, and best-run kayak facility I have ever used. Kayaks were in top shape, check in and equipment was easy and clean, and everything was smooth as could be. HIGHLY recommend!!

We took the Egan Creek paddle with Jeff & Ali on a perfect day. It is well worth it, especially if you want a leisurely, scenic paddle combined with a touch of adventure on either end! The first & last 10 minutes are on the river and subject to tide/winds/boat traffic. Our guides prepared us well and we found it exciting! The creek ride takes you along a parade of boat docks and lovely private homes, passes by the Amelia Lighthouse visible in the trees, and ends with a paddle through the marsh on the way back to the river. The company and guides are professional, very knowledgeable and, most of all, fun and welcoming to paddlers of all ages & ability levels. Thank you! We will be back:)

I could go on and on but mostly I'll say just do it. 6 people at $350 + tip for 2 hrs on the FL water was well worth it. Plenty of wildlife, history and just the enjoyment of being out on the water.

We have been coming to AI and Fernandina for years and always talked about but never did this. We're already planning to do it again next year.

We'd been dying to see the wild horses on Cumberland Island (across the sound from Amelia Island), but it was cumbersome to try to go to St. Mary's, Georgia, to pay to get on the ferry to go to the island. This was the solution! The boat was small and nimble enough to get us in close to the mansion remains AND to see the horses. Our captain took many candid photos of us AND pointed out the wildlife around us in the marshes and other historical points. Because they only take up to 6, our group of 4 had a private tour and it was very comfortable.

We had a great trip on the Amelia Island to Cumberland Island Sea Shore with an Outstanding Guide, Stacy Moran. Stacy was informative & well informed, and added greatly to the experience. Saw lots of sea & shore birds on Cumberland, as well as a small herd of the horses twice while taking a break on Cumberland Beach. enroute Stacy took us around the point for a cool of Fort Clinch from the river, where we saw at least five ospreys in flight and perched in the trees.
Most outstanding was being joined by many dolphins and a small sea turtle on our paddle over and back. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience & are recruiting friends for a return trip. As somewhat experienced kayakers we had debated making the trip on our own but Stacy made it much more enjoyable & safe, familiar as he was with the tides, currents, jetties and oyster beds, not to mention the ton of photographs he took.
Catherine, the co-owner, was also amazing and patient in setting up the tour, adjusting to a cancellation on our end and several weather related issues. She was always positive & helpful. We also love the fact that they are native to the Island and a locally owned business. Can't wait to return for more tours!!
