In terms of guided tours in Florida, this is as professional and personal as it gets.

Note: before we arrived for our tour with Capt. Jesse, we stopped at the Marathon Gas station for fresh stone crabs to eat on the boat. We will touch on this later in the review but highly recommended if in season.

We met Capt. Jesse at the dock and after a quick safety primer headed out to the islands. Make sure to arrive early because it was like a scene out of National Geographic with flocks of birds soaring alongside our boat. As the sun was rising and the mist lifting, it felt like we were flying.

When we reached the secret fishing spot (no GPS coordinates to share, sorry) we quickly realized that *Capt Jesse will put you in the best conditions to catch fish that day.* He puts savant-level attention into everything: from the time to leave, to the live bait selection, to the configuration of people on the boat. It’s all part of a meticulous planning process — so if you don’t have appreciation for that kind of thing, best to choose another guide.

I won’t go into how many fish we caught (for a good period, one redfish or snook per cast) because the service here is only partially about fishing. Capt Jesse’s knowledge of the area, history, and wildlife is encyclopedic. Jesse just doesn’t want your money. He wants you to have a good time.

As mentioned earlier, we brought stone crabs and beers (there’s an ice chest on board) and Jesse gave us a lesson on how to eat them. We enjoyed them with the sounds of fish jumping and alligator growls coming from the mangroves. A truly Evergladian experience we won’t soon forget.

We ended the perfect half-day outing eating the fish we caught with Capt. Jesse across the road at Cafe Havana, an open-air seafood gem that’s probably been featured in plenty of magazines and TV shows. The owner Carlos and his wait team treated us like kings. Randomly John Boehner was there too.

All in all, this half day trip way more than a fishing tour. It was a window into the absolute best sliver of Everglades City. Capt Jesse is like a natural ambassador. He’s figured out something pretty beautiful in life. And you pay him gladly to share it with you.

My Brother and I fished with Capt. Jessie and we had non-stop snook and redfish action all day. Jessie worked hard at finding us fish all day and I would highly recommend him if you are visiting the 10K Islands. Jessie also has a great sense of humor and we immediately felt comfortable and welcomed from the time we stepped foot on his meticulously kept boat.

Captain Jessie Hill is the man! Me and the boys had such a fun trip. His boat was perfect to fish us 3 with plenty of room and beamy and stable to enjoy the ride and really FAST plus sits in skinny to give us access to water in exotic Everglades backwater spots. He is a true southern gentleman and was really patient as we wrapped many baits in the mangroves plus helping us land a ton of fish. Plus he uses top tackle and worked real hard to teach us all the backwater tactics. Would highly recommend his services to anyone experienced or not, single fly anglers or multiple angler trips.

After 1 hour of cruising trough a maze of bushes and trees Jesse took me to one of his hidden spots. Once we start casting....it was like the water was boiling, Snook, Grouper, Red Fish. Almost every cast we got a bite. We made so much splashing that even the gators came to check out what was going on. If you want to catch fish, book Captain Jesse.

Two full days on the hunt in high winds for fish with a guide who worked his tail off under adverse conditions. Jesse put us on fish! Good natured, a born storyteller, fun to be with, very tolerant and helpful with a couple of rusty casters, Capt. Jesse changed locations, moving to find fish. We’re planning on fishing with Jesse Hill next year!

Capt Jesse was awesome our family. He kept the kids (5,8,11) engaged and knew just when to change up the scenery. They still talk about him and the fish months later. I would highly recommend a trip with with Captain Jesse.

Great boat, great rods tackle and bait. At one point we were all four hauling in trout and mackerel as fast as we could get them off the hook! Jason is a fantastic captain who loves what he does, takes care of his equipment, but really takes care of his clients. We had a wonderful day of fishing. He’s the best.

Great Day
Booked a 3/4 day charter with Capt Jesse and had a great adventure with lots of action.
From catching some bait to watching him work his net, then off for some Trout and trying to get them to the boat before a shark would grab them, got bit on almost every cast by something.
Playing with the porpoise. Worked hard to put us on some Snook, tried couple techniques until we got on them, then some good battles.
Wind picked up and he was very conscious to not beat us up with the waves.
Tried for some red fish and ended up with more Snook and assorted other species.
Great day Capt Jesse worked hard and did not take any short cuts keeping us in the action all day. End of the day Capt Jesse cleaned the fish we kept even made sure we had ice for our cooler to get them home.
My next everglade fishing trip will be easier I will just call Outgoing Charters.

When the day arrived for the trip we had booked with Jesse we weren’t expecting much. The wind was blowing a gale and there was a pretty high chance of rain. Jesse’s local knowledge, quick wit and fun loving personality turned it into a fun day of great fishing.

Went fishing in tough conditions with Capt Jesse the day after hurricane Eta. He was able to find and net plenty of bait in the storm discolored Everglades waters. The morning bite was slow with a few reds, snook, and jacks but we continued to search dozens of spots. After noon we really got on a tear with one spot yielding nonstop snook action for a solid hour until the tide slowed. Biggest fish was caught by my nephew - a 29 inch snook. We finished up on a school of trout that also was nonstop. Capt Jesse is a great guy who knows the waters and will work hard to make your day memorable
